Aliens Vs Predator | £3 (download) | Green Man Gaming | PC

The campaign mode lets you play as Aliens, Predators and human marines. It's a little rough around the edges, but the gameplay styles are varied enough to hold your interest while you warm up for the multiplayer. Hunting human opponents as the Predator online is magnificently empowering and should be experienced by all. Even playing as the Aliens is fun if you can get used to the dizzying wall and ceiling climbing aspects. Don't forget to use the voucher code above for the discount.

Aliens Vs Predator ought to have set the world on fire, but it ended up being a bug hunt rather than a stand up fight (ha). Trust me, you’re in for some chop (heh). Insert Aliens quote here (laugh). The core action is solid enough and everything generally works to some degree, which jars uncomfortably with the weak graphics and numerous niggles. That said, Brendan rated it very highly... and it's so freaking cheap I can scarcely believe my eyes. Surely someone can find it a good home?

No Aliens Vs Predator Sequel In The Works According To Sega

A V P

I wasn't that impressed with the new Aliens Vs Predator game. Sure, the multiplayer was pretty good fun, but the single player campaigns weren't that great, and I got a bit annoyed that the Predator dropped his cloak at every given opportunity. However, I'd love to see a sequel because it's a series that has bucket loads of potential and could be something truly jaw dropping if it was done well. So, it's a bit of a shame to here that Sega aren't planning on making one at the moment.

Aliens vs Predator 2

If you want to get your hands on a copy of Aliens Vs Predator, your best bet's to head on over to Play and get one from them because you'll save yourself just under £6 on the next best offer. There's nothing better than stalking your prey from the safety of the tree-tops whilst you're cloaked as a predator, choking back the laughs as you watch the colonial marines below fumbling around with their inferior technology. However, throw a few xenomorphs into the mix and you've got yourself the recipe for a good old fashioned interspecies royal rumble! Thanks to sheldococo @ HUKD.

Aliens vs Predator

Until Thursday you can rustle yourself up a copy of Aliens Vs Predator for under a fiver from Steam. Getting to play as your favourite hostile alien species is great fun, especially when you're stalking your prey whilst cloaked as the predator, however dropping yourself into the fray between xenomorphs and predators as a colonial marine's where the real action's at. Steam have also dropped the price for the swarm and bughunt map packs, so you can get your hands on both of them as well for under £3.

We’re back with another deals roundup, bringing you the best of the bunch from the last 24 hours. While there’s a good chance a large portion of you are currently embracing the Dragon Age 2 demo that was released today, we’ve found some wallet-friendly offerings for you to check out once you emerge from the preview of the Free Marches.

Let’s take a look…

Bayonetta | £8.32 With Voucher Code | Tesco Entertainment | PS3

Deals-roundup-Bayonetta

It may be filled with leather-clad, gun-toting witches, but it’s a slick action title that’s a visual treat when the combat gets going. PS3 owners who are looking for a combat brawler fix should check out this deal.

Aliens Vs Predator | £6.99 | Base.com & Affiliates | PC

Rebellion’s take on the classic game wasn’t the grand triple-threat FPS we were hoping for, but it manages to do a good job at being a solid if flawed game. It's a good price for PC owners looking for some simple shooter fun, or fans of the franchise crossover looking to unleash some fury as their favourite deadly extra-terrestrial.

Alan Wake | £9.99 | Amazon / Play | Xbox 360

deals-roundup-alan_wake

Dropping below the £10 mark, it’s an ideal time to try out Remedy’s Psychological Thriller for yourselves if you’re a 360 owner. Better yet, you have a choice of retailers from which to get it from as Amazon have price matched Play. Power to the people!

AVP isn't actually a bad game. In fact, it's pretty damn good. The marine sections are classic survival-horror, the Predator bits almost Arkham Asylum-esque and the Alien portions? Well, let's just say I had Wipeout vibes. And motion-sickness. It's just £7.99 at Play now, which is a fantastic price for a relatively big-budget game. It's feature rich, packed with content and solid multiplayer offerings. Treat yourself. Before it rockets up in price when January is over.

NB. If you use the code 'Rudolph' at the checkout, you can get a further 20% knocked off of the price!

Aliens vs Predator is not quite the triumphant return we were all hoping for, but at under a fiver, when every other merchant is charging at least double that, it's a pretty good steal. It's not a bad game, per se; it's just a little disappointing when all's said and done. Once again you take on the mantle of either the Marine, the Predator or the Alien, but you'll probably want to bypass much of the singleplayer and take full advantage of the interspecies carnage going on online. At least it's better than the AVP films! Thanks to Andy1212 at HUKD.

AVP

As a fan of both film series, I'd be lying to you if I said I didn't get a small amount of enjoyment from the single player campaigns. Unfortunately, after a short space of time, things start to seem way too familiar and it's hard to overlook the game's flaws. However, if you log onto the multiplayer you'll soon see where the real action's at, as you face off against Xenomorphs with other marines, or try to avoid falling into the traps set by cunning players who are jumping around the treetops as predators. Just make sure you leap onto Steam's website to take advantage of this price before it runs out on Monday 1st November.

Aliens vs Predator £9.99 @ Play [PS3 & XBox 360 Games] photo

If you missed the Aliens vs Predator deal that Felix posted last week then you can now pick it up from Play for just a couple of pennies more.

The Play price of £9.99 is £2 less than the next best for either console, £11.99 from Powerplay Direct and at most retailers it costs at least £13.

With Aliens vs Predator you get three games in one, giving you the opportunity to play in the shoes of the marines or the exoskeleton of the aliens and predators. Each section is made up of five campaigns with its own story that fits together with the other parts to provide an overarching narrative. As an alien you find yourself trapped in a laboratory by some mean scientists and you must make your escape so that you can head over to the marine's base and cause some good old fashioned mischief with your face cuddling buddies. As a predator you must survive the rites of passage that allow you to shed your "Young Blood" status and join a mission party on a neighbouring planet.

These alien and predator segments are quite fun with some fairly unique gameplay hooks to grab your attention but the awkward control system does put a bit of a dampener on things. The marines section on the other hand is just a fairly standard first person shooter affair but it does offer some nice creepy moments and evoke a decent atmosphere.

It's far from life changing but Aliens vs Predator is a damn sight better than its movie counterpart and certainly worth a punt at this price.

This week's Xbox Live Deal has a distinct otherworldly flavour. Or, to put it bluntly, the aliens are coming! Three games and a map pack have had their prices slashed- and as usual, click the links to check them out or download the demo from Xbox Live Marketplace. Note that only Gold Members can access the deals, and that you'll need to log in to see the updated prices.

Let's start with Zeno Clash. It's a bizarre, sinister and utterly first person bonkers first person brawler that's powered by Valve's venerable Source engine. I rated it very highly in my full review,  and suggest- nay, urge you to take the plunge and at least try out the demo. It's quite unlike anything else out there- and improves on the PC version with new challenge modes, cooperative shenanigans, improved graphics and a vastly superior voice actor replacing one of the horrendous characters. Ever wanted to assault a one man band with a pair of fish? Give it a go.

Aliens Vs Predator £9.93 @ The Hut [PS3 & Xbox 360 Games]

Forget the awful films, the real Aliens Vs Predator experience has always been on videogames. The most recent addition to the long-running series has now seen its price plummet to a mere £9.93 at The Hut. And if you're any sort of Aliens or Predator fan, you'll buy this game!

At a sub-tenner price, I really don't think you can miss out on this if you're a fan of the two series or simply an FPS fan in general. While it received a fairly mediocre reception, AVP is a rare thing, in that it's an FPS that takes risks. It's told from three perspectives, with vastly different mechanics and goals, all interwoven and integral to each other.

The story is simple. Aliens are on the loose, menacing Marines, and Predators are around hoping to off both sides. It's standard fare, and the story's not very important. After all, we're talking about penile-headed aliens with mouths inside their mouths, dread-locked galactic game-hunters with mandibles, and Marines that are surprisingly incompetent at their job.

AVP is played from three perspectives. At one end, we've got the Marines. It's familiar territory, pistols, rifles, shotguns. Marines lack the special abilities of their foes, and as such they're missions play out like horror levels, tense and dripping with dread. Then, we've got the Aliens. Almost like vehicles instead of characters, Aliens can climb walls and sprint ceilings, upside down. It's hectic, strange and wonderfully mad. Finally, meet the Predator. He's like a murderous Sam Fisher, keeping out of sight, bristling with weaponry like his shoulder-mounted cannon, wrist-blades and disc. He's huge fun, as are his trophy kills, where sneaking up on a hapless Marine results in his head being torn off, spine in tow. Wonderful.
