Assassin's Creed: Rogue only £7. Don't miss out

All was not lost for the Assassin's Creed brand last year. Ubisoft Sofia provided an excellent sequel to Black Flag and £7 is a very reasonable price for the PS3 version.

Compared to Unity, this is a masterpiece The combat's not broken, there's a rich and varied world to explore and yes, ruddy big pirate ships are back in. If you had fun with Captain Kenway, you should snap this one right up. Check out my Sunday Seven which sings the game's praises compared to Unity.

Thanks to dwor.

Assassin's Creed Rogue hits PC tomorrow, get in early for just £17.95

Ubisoft's other Assassin's Creed game is coming to PC tomorrow, and you can still save a bundle by pre-ordering for only £17.95!

You'll need to like CDKeys on Facebook and use the voucher code for your extra 5% discount using the widget at the top of the store page.

It's a screaming deal for a game that far surpasses Unity in terms of fun factor, letting you play as a Templar with advanced technology and a tricked-out combat ship to die for. A great new perspective on the series and an absolute steal at under £18, but  here's hoping that it's a half-decent port given Ubisoft's track record in that department.

There are a couple of points worth noting, though. First of all, Ubisoft famously deactivated a number of Uplay codes last month, but they were bought using stolen credit cards and CDKeys care about the providence of their codes. Secondly, though, Ubisoft are also famous for limp PC ports, so here's hoping that this is an exception. Alternatively you can buy Assassin's Creed Unity for £17.99 on Xbox 360.

It's yet another price cut for Assassin's Creed Rogue, with Base dropping the price to the lowest we've seen for both last-gen consoles. Overall there's a saving of around £2 over the next best deal. Despite the recycling of locations we've been to in previous games, Rogue ended up being the superior AC game last year. If you've yet to make the leap to current-gen and fancy some assassination action, this is an excellent price to jump in at. Thanks to oUkTuRkEyIII @ HUKD!

The Sunday Seven: How Assassin’s Creed Rogue smashes Unity

Assassin’s Creed Rogue has been living under the shadow of Assassin’s Creed Unity since it was announced that both games would be sharing a release window. When both were moved to the very same day, faithful and eager new-gen fans of course opted for Unity. Sadly, that loyalty was rewarded by a broken and oddly dull entry. But now that we’ve had time to play through both games, it’s clear that Ubisoft has released a fantastic Assassin’s title this year, but one you’ll have to dust off the PS3 or 360 for. So then, here are seven reasons why Rogue has absolutely smashed Unity.

The Sunday Seven: How Assassin’s Creed Rogue smashes Unity

Ships!

As in Black Flag, Assassin’s Creed: Rogue lets you set sail and take a break from all the climbing and stabbing. It’s as moreish an experience as ever and has greatly benefitted from the shift towards the frozen waters of North America and expanded arsenal options that make you more formidable than ever. Where is Unity’s escape from itself though? There’s simply nothing in comparison, ensuring you feel landlocked in every way possible.

Assassin's Creed: Rogue will let us play as a Templar and hunt assassins on last-gen consoles this Christmas. With poison bombs. And Haytham Kenway. It's a great premise, but will Rogue be a fitting sendoff for the Assassin's Creed III arc or a game too far for the franchise? I sat down with Ubisoft Sofia producer Karl Luhe to get the latest details on the new features and the party line.

Stay tuned for our hands-on preview!
