Get Just Cause 3 on PC for just £17.95

There's a saving of over a tenner on this listing, and it's made even better by using the voucher code above. In some regards, Just Cause 3 delivered more of the same, but when that more of the same is ridiculous carnage over a tropical island, that's no necessarily a bad thing. Unlimited C4 and the new addition of the wingsuit give the action new life, so as long as you can get over the load times you'll have a blast with this one. Cheers to Buzz for the heads-up!

Just Cause 3 Review - Appetite for Destruction

We've had more than our fair share of open world sandboxes on the new-gen consoles, but the wait for Just Cause 3 has been a rather long one. After all, nobody quite does explosions like Rico Rodriguez.

Just Cause 3 does so many fun things right, but the number of basic elements that it utterly fails at is truly shocking. My first few hours with the game were not good at all actually. However, as I got used to the rough edges, the fun side of the game eventually prevailed and I found myself reluctantly being teased into having a good time.

The story is mere window dressing to the carnage. Rico is once again tasked with liberating a sun-kissed set of islands from a tyrannical dictator. Rico isn't so much of a character as much as a walking accent. But at least he's not an asshole (hello, Mad Max).

Just Cause 3 Review - Appetite for Destruction

What's the best way to liberate a nation? By blowing up anything with red paint on it apparently. Small towns or settlements are packed with destructible items like propaganda speakers, dictator statues, billboards, fuel depots, generators and the like. Destroy them all and that's another location ticked off the map. With over 100 areas to liberate, you're not going home any time soon. You'll also need to reach various liberation milestones to unlock story missions, so you may as well get stuck into any town you glide past.

Mad Max Review - Bleeding out on the blacktop

Mad Max is a treasured movie series, and it was a great surprise to see the recent Mad Max: Fury Road reboot turn out to be pretty damn good. The pressure is certainly on for Avalanche Studios to deliver with their Mad Max game, which has been in the works since around 2008. So, it's perhaps not unfair to have high expectations, especially when you consider the same studio is responsible for the ludicrously fun Just Cause series, with a third entry set to tear through stores later this year.

Just think about the comparison though. Just Cause games are set in a tropical paradise and give you tonnes of guns, skydiving, mid-air car surfing, anything-goes grappling hooks and the fun cranked up to 11 for the duration. Mad Max is set in a desert wasteland, car fuel must be scavenged and fought for, ammo for your rusty sawn-off is in dire supply and just staying alive is a constant challenge. Can you guess which game is more fun to play?

Mad Max Review - Bleeding out on the blacktop

Mad Max's biggest challenge isn't that it's bloody hard (and it is), it's just so crushingly dull and long-winded. Missions see you constantly driving around the wasteland with ever shifting shades of brown or grey, doing the same sort of fetch quests that you've been commuting between for the last decade. The map is cluttered with collectibles, hot air balloons (Assassin's Creed-style sync points), races, bases to raid, scrap salvage areas, convoy routes to ambush, towers to destroy and so on. Most icons don't even have the decency to bugger off from the map once you're done either. The whole design seems content to make do with the dusty remains of gaming worlds that have moved on long ago, much like Max's life.

Get Max Max on PS4 / Xbox One for just £34.95

We've seen cheaper listing in the past, but at the time of writing this is the lowest price around for the current-gen versions of Mad Max. It's not a huge saving over the next best offers elsewhere, but a saving is a saving. While the opinion among industry critics has been split, gamers everywhere have been raving over Avalanche Studios open-world title. With vehicular combat, car customisation, RPG upgrades, and hand-to-hand scraps in the wasteland, it will will no doubt keep you busy for a while. Stay tuned for our review for Mad Max, which should be hitting the site in the near future. Thanks to oUkTuRkEyIII @ HUKD!

Just Cause 3 trailer is suitably insane

Here it is folks, leaked a few hours earlier than we were expecting, the first proper gameplay trailer for Just Cause 3. It certainly doesn't disappoint and is packed with that wonderful grappling hook, ridiculously dangerous attitudes to vehicle safety and more explosions than a Michael Bay montage. In short, it looks like the most fun game of 2015. Take a peek and see for yourselves.

Also, stay tuned to Dealspwn as I'll be bringing you a feature article later today on some of the finer points that'll have you wanting Just Cause 3 even sooner.

Mad Max gameplay trailer unleashes the Road Warrior

Today's brand new Mad Max trailer has been well worth the wait as we finally get to see lots of gameplay. As expected, there's a large focus on the vehicular combat, which looks similar to Rage, but with the fun factor turned up to 11. The desert may be all sorts of brown, but it's looking very detailed too.

The extensive trailer also shows off lots of combat features and emphasises that most of the on-foot action will be based around melee fights as ammo is incredibly rare in this post apocalyptic world. Customisation of your Magnum Opus car and Max's gear also gets a look in showing that there's much more depth to the game than we originally imagined.

Fans of the Mad Max movies may be a bit annoyed that the Australian setting seems to have been ditched for the States (are those the remains of the Golden Gate Bridge we see?), but we're presuming this is something the upcoming movie remake has done anyway. That said, Gibson fans (he used to be cool, before he turned into a massive anti-semite) will enjoy brief glimpses of homages to the original movies, like Max eating dog food and a cheeky glimpse of the Thunderdome.

Alleged Just Cause 3 screens leaked - Why we need Rico Rodriguez back in our lives

Just Cause 3 is looking... well... it's looking pretty Just Cause-y to be honest, if these rumoured screenshots of the Xbox One debug build are anything to go by. They don't reveal a huge amount apart from mountains, expansive landscapes, Rico shooting at traffic, and the purchasing of cars.

Eurogamer have managed to verify at least one of the images, more on that in a bit, but have your pinches of salt at the ready anyway.

I'm still yet to 100% Just Cause 2 -- I doubt now that I ever will -- but that hasn't stopped it being one of my favourite games in recent years, nor has it prevented us here at Dealspwn Towers craving a third instalment. Avalanche are being very coy, and no doubt focusing most of their efforts on Mad Max, but the return of Rico Rodriguez must surely be a priority for them.

We need him back, badly.

Would you like the good news or the bad news?

We've got a new trailer for Mad Max to show you today, which pleasingly focuses on post-apocalyptic vehicular carnage. Creating and customising your "ultimate combat vehicle" is going to be a key facet of the game, and it promises to be as fun as it sounds.

Unfortunately, the new trailer also reveals that Mad Max has slipped from its 2014 launch window into next year. Still, with red hot Just Cause 3 rumours currently churning through the mill, it's clear that Avalanche will still be making headlines over the next few months.

Mad Max Preview | Just Deserts

There's one thing that you need to know about Mad Max straight off the bat: Fear not. It's not a movie tie-in. In fact Avalanche have gone to great pains to separate the game from the film reboot coming next year. The curse of the licensed game tie-in is well documented, but Avalanche and Warner Bros. are keen to avoid any potential pitfalls with this one (hence why Max now sports a slight Australian accent following the outcry at E3) and, after catching a look at the game in action at Gamescom this year, it's easy to see why.

Avalanche have proven their pedigree when it comes to open world games. Just Cause 2 was an absolute leviathan of a game, packed full of points of interest and enormously entertaining systems. But whereas Rico Rodriguez's stunt-filled sandboxes have leaned towards anarchic fun, there's something a little (dare I say it) grittier about Mad Max. And that's not just because the post-apocalyptic, dystopian world in which it's set is a sand and dirt-filled wasteland.

Mad Max Interview | Emil Kraftling On Cars, Combat, and Customisation

We caught up with Emil Kraftling, senior game designer at Avalanche Studios, at Gamescom this year to chat about Mad Max and find out how the developers are going about packing their desert wasteland full of interesting things to see and do, how their bringing the crucially important customisation mechanics to the fore, and how strongholds -- bastions of humanity out in the dune sea wastes -- will work.

Mad Max Motion Comic Sets Up The Story

Warner Bros. have published a two-part 'motion comic' (animated graphic novel) to preface the upcoming Mad Max game. You'll get to meet the unhinged mechanic Chumbucket and taste a little bit of the post-apocalyptic setting. It tastes... gritty.

Mad Max is currently in development at Avalanche Studios, slated to release next year on PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.

Mad Max Gameplay Reveal Trailer: "Soul Of A Man"

Mad Max has received its first official gameplay trailer, which paints a surprisingly doleful picture of what it means to be truly alone in a post-apocalyptic world where hope and justice no longer exist. You know, before showing us loads of explosions, weaponised car chases and much punching.

Just Cause devs Avalanche Studios are behind the recently-unveiled tie-in, which promises an open world to explore. It's slated for a 2014 release on PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.

Avalanche Studios Shelves Steampunk Sandbox Title, Mysterious Screenshots Finally Explained

Avalanche Studios piqued our interest with some tantalising screenshots over the last few months, which many of us assumed to be in-development shots of Just Cause 3. However, it transpires that they were actually from an entirely new steampunk sandbox game that has now been shelved indefinitely.
