Battlefield: Hardline only £16 on PS4

Battlefield: Hardline turned out way better than we originally hoped and stiff competition this year has seen the price drop rather nicely. So much so in fact, you can get a new copy of Hardline on PS4 for just £16.

Unlike Battlefield 3 and 4, Hardline has a decent campaign mode putting you in the shoes of an LA Cop in a faux-episodic take on the shooter series. Sure you can spot every back-stabbing a mile off, but the performances from some reassuringly familiar faces ensure you'll stick with it. The multiplayer side of the game lacks that huge open-ground feel of the usual Battlefield games, but there's some co-ordinated cops vs robbers modes to enjoy in teams and the vehicular hotwire mode is heaps of fun. Check out Battlefield: Hardline Review - Campaign brings home the bacon or our Battlefield: Hardline Multiplayer Tips for more details.

Battlefield Hardline joins EA Access next month

The eagle-eyed users over on Reddit have discovered that Battlefield Hardline will be the next game to be added to the EA Access vault in October. It follows in the footsteps of such titles as Titanfall, Plants Vs Zombies: Garden Warfare, and Dragon Age: Inquisition to make their way onto the subscription-based, Xbox One exclusive service. Considering Hardline only came out in March, this is a fine addition for those who are part of EA Access, which costs £3.99 a month.

Thanks, Videogamer.

Battlefield: Hardline is a fair cop at only £14.99 on PC

Battlefield: Hardline is a fair cop at only £14.99 on PC

Against all the odds, it's the single player campaign that's proved to be Battlefield: Hardline's biggest selling point. Trying to play through as a 'good cop' by arresting baddies instead of filling them with lead is very rewarding. But the gunplay is as fun as ever if you want to play that way too. The multiplayer feels scaled down due to the smaller maps and the heist and assassination missions generally favour the defenders too much. Hotwire's car chases are essential though and will hopefully become a series regular. Battlefield: Hardline Review - Campaign brings home the bacon

Battlefield Hardline for PS4 drops to £29.86

Battlefield Hardline on the PS4 for only £29.86 seems like a fair cop to us! (how many times can we use that?)

Battlefield Hardline's first map pack revealed, deserves a vaguely Police-related pun

It would be criminal to... no. 'Ello 'ello 'ello, what's going on here then... argh, definitely not.

Tell you what, I'll leave the puns to you this time and stick to the basics: Battlefield Hardline has detailed its first DLC pack. Entitled Criminal Activity, you can expect four maps, two vehicles and plenty of unlockables including a nailgun.

Get a free Battlefield Hardline Gold Battlepack on PS3 & PS4

We would never recommend paying for Battlefield's randomised Battlepacks, seeing as they're effectively a slot machine, but getting them for free is another matter. You can currently grab a totally gratis Gold Battlepack on PSN for the PS3 and PS4 versions of Battlefield Hardline.

A Gold Battlepack contains 5 items, including a minimum of 2 Advanced items and 2 Standard items, with a bonus 5th item, that contains the likelihood of a Distinguished item, not present in a Silver Battlepack.

Battlefield: Hardline Review - Campaign brings home the bacon

Visceral games had a daunting task on their hands when they were given the reigns for the latest Battlefield game. But rather than attempt another military shooter, they've come up with a fresh angle for the series' single player campaign and the online multiplayer by infusing a cops and robbers vibe.

We'll start with the campaign, as it's always nice to get a feel for the guns before hopping online. That said, DICE's last two campaigns in Battlefield 3 and 4 have been terrible, you'd barely know that the same team were behind the excellent Battlefield: Bad Company games. Visceral know their way around a campaign though, having developed the excellent Dead Space series.

Battlefield: Hardline Review - Campaign brings home the bacon

You are Nick Mendoza, a Miami cop on the trail of the newest drug in town. The game plays out in TV episode-like chapters and as such has lots of ideal stopping points if you want to play through it in smaller chunks.

Battlefield: Hardline Multiplayer Tips

After easing ourselves in though Battlefield: Hardline's campaign (so much better than the last two games!), we've been hitting the servers pretty hard since launch. We've been impressed with how stable the online action has been and it looks like Visceral have learned from DICE's mistakes in Battlefield 4. So you've no excuses to not get the most from the online action. However, life as a cop or criminal can be seriously tough out there. So why not improve your chances by checking out our Battlefield: Hardline multiplayer tips.

Battlefield: Hardline Multiplayer Tips

Fire in bursts

Hardline's assault rifles have a mean kick to them and sustained firing causes your crosshair to dance around the screen making distant targets difficult to hit. You don't necessarily need to adjust the firing mode of your assault rifle to burst fire, just manually fire in shorter bursts and you'll notice how much easier it is to maintain a steady aim and not have to worry about reloading to finish of a single opponent.
