Review

If you're howling at the moon and hungry like the wolf fur a shooter to sink your teeth into (what big teeth you have, grandma), you'll say fangs to SimplyCDKeys beclaws their latest deal is snooker-lupine. Enough Wolf puns, though, because Wolfenstein has nothing whatsoever to do with wolves, more shooting future Nazis with massive guns and satisfying mechanics. Thanks to theg @ HUKD!

Wolfenstein: Occupied Edition £39.99 on PS4 at Zavvi

Wolfenstein: The New Order - Occupied Edition | Zavvi | £39.99
Review

I'm not entirely sure why an old-school shooter crams such an overt and obtrusive story front and centre (rather than explaining it in a .txt file), but Wolfenstein's latest reboot is oh-so-satisfying when the exposition stops and the shootybangbangdeath begins. Excellent mechanics, great guns and slick visuals make this one to play, especially now that it's coming down in price. We reckon that £49.99 was a big ask, frankly, but £39.99 for the merch-tastic PS4 occupied edition is more like it.

Wolfenstein: The New Order pre-order | SimplyCDKeys | £17.99
Hands-On Preview

PC gamers are used to spending considerably less money than their console-owning brethren, and this seems set to continue long into the new generation. Take Wolfenstein: The New Order, which you can pre-order for as low as £37.95 on PS4 and Xbox One, or £17.99 from CDKeys.

The game itself seems set to be fun, intense and perhaps willing to make up for the atrocious last Wolfenstein attempt. Thanks to M1k3strutt3r @ HUKD!

Boom Boom Boom Boom

After id Software were forced to go back to the drawing board and the legendary John Carmack jumped ship for Oculus Rift, we'd all but put Doom 4 on deathwatch. However, it seems that the vapour may be slowly coalescing back into a real game, since Bethesda has announced that Doom 4 could enter beta as soon as this summer.

Well, if you pre-order Wolfenstein: The New Order, that is.

Would you buy Skyrim on PS4 or Xbox One? Probably... and Bethesda knows it

The internet exploded earlier today when the eagle-eyed folks at OnlySP spotted an odd discrepancy on the official Skyrim website. Namely: PS4 and Xbox One versions. Twitter, Reddit and the internet's assembled hacks burst into a frenzy, all tremendously excited that Bethesda had outed a new lease of life for their epic RPG.

Except they hadn't. Turns out that it was just a website error... at least, that's the official line.

It's possible that Bethesda's denial is damage control pending an official reveal, or perhaps unbelievably devious market testing, but this morning's kerfuffle makes for a more interesting discussion. Would you buy Skyrim on PS4 or Xbox One, and what would it have to do in order to earn your moolah?

Dishonored GOTY Edition Launch Trailer Blinks In

Dishonored's DLC-packed Game Of The Year Edition is out this week, so predictably we've got a launch trailer to introduce new players to the setting and content. Including the excellent sandbox assassination game and its expansions - two of which are exceptional while the others are throwaway distractions - it's a decent value proposition.

2 Bethesda Games For £10 | Get Loaded | PC

Get Games are currently running a '2 for £10' sale on several Bethesda titles - though it's worth noting that many of these games often sell for less than £5 each in regular deals, making for a false saving here. As far as I can work out, buying Doom 3: BFG Edition and either Dishonored, Oblivion GOTY or Morrowind GOTY will save you a few quid.

Might be a good time to round out your collection, perhaps.

Bethesda "Pushing" Microsoft To Let Xbox Live Silver Members Play The Elder Scrolls Online

We recently learned that The Elder Scrolls Online will support a traditional monthly subscription model and microtransactions, which is going to be another expense on top of Xbox Live Gold fees. Bethesda are apparently lobbying Microsoft to make their MMO playable on Xbox One regardless of your membership tier.

Dishonored: The Brigmore Witches DLC Now Available

The final piece of Dishonored DLC hits downloadable marketplaces today, in the form of the Brigmore Witches expansion. This new content rounds off Daud's storyline, bringing him face to face with Corvo Attano's mercy or judgement.

It's available on Xbox Live for 800 Microsoft Points, and will subsequently launch on Steam and US PSN in a matter of hours. European PS3 owners will have to wait for tomorrow's update.

Perhaps you can enjoy this launch trailer to kill the time?

Bethesda: PS4 & Xbox One Easy To Port To, But Cross-Platform Play A "Nightmare"

Bethesda reckons that the next-gen consoles are much easier to create multiplatform games on, due to their PC-like architecture, but creating synchronous cross-platform experiences is still hellishly difficult.

Bethesda: Wolfenstein: The New Order More Than A "Mindless Shooter"

Bethesda's Pete Hines reckons that Wolfenstein: The New Order won't just be a straight-up slaughterfest, rather, it will have real character and some refreshing gameplay elements. It's a bit like Uncharted, apparently, only a first person shooter with nazi war mechs. So nothing like that then.

The Evil Within Interview & Gameplay Footage Leaps Out, Scares Us

Sony and Bethesda's Pete Hines got together for a little chat about The Evil Within: the upcoming survival horror title from Shinki Mikami. Not only is the ensuing footage rather informative (and promising for horror fans), but it also contains plenty of gameplay too.

Definitely one to watch ahead of its 2014 launch on current and next-gen consoles.

Wolfenstein: The New Order E3 Trailer Rewrites History

What would the 1960s be like if the Nazis won World War II? The latest Wolfenstein: The New Order trailer poses that question by taking us through some nightmarish perversions of historical scenes (such as four stormtroopers crossing Abbey Road), before getting down to gameplay footage of B.J. Blazkowitz shooting up legions of Nazi war mechs.
