Diablo III Console Builds "Up And Running"

It's somehow still not yet official, Blizzard have once again confirmed that they are working on porting Diablo III to console, even if they can't come out and announce it as A Thing.

What this means is that there are working builds up and running already, but they're not ready to announce anything yet, probably because as soon as they do, the internet will transform into a swirling mess of slavering hordes.

Creative Assembly: "No Fundamental Reason" Why Total War Couldn't Come To Next-Gen Consoles

The Creative Assembly, responsible for the excellent series of Total War strategy games, reckon that the next generation could well see the series make the jump from PC to console.

Strategy games aren't particularly big on consoles, it has to be said, but studio head Mike Simpson suggested that "there's no fundamental reason" why strategy games can't work on those platforms, it's just that no-one's really done it terribly well before.

Blizzard have suggested in the latest issue of GameInformer that should Diablo III make the jump to consoles, it is imperative that the game feels like it was built for those platforms, rather than simply being a port of a PC game.

Potential Port On Hold Until PC Version Hits

CD Projekt, the developer behind hit RPG The Witcher and upcoming sequel The Witcher 2: Assassin Of Kings, has suggested that work will begin on a long-rumoured console port once the PC version has successfully released. However, development has not yet begun on a home console edition, and the decision will be based on whether or not PC sales warrant it.

Oh, and apparently it won't "look like crap." Good to know.
