Ryse: Son Of Rome Video Explores Combat

Ryse: Son Of Rome seemed to be heavily-dependent on QTEs during the initial gameplay reveal back in May, but Crytek are keen to assure gamers that there's more to combat than button mashing. This new video delves into the brutal swordplay we can expect in the Xbox One launch title.

Project Phoenix Dev Diary Fleshes Out Tactical Combat

Project Phoenix is still drawing in the punters on Kickstarter, understandable since it's a revolutionary JRPG project from veteran AAA developers and Final Fantasy composer Nobuo Uematsu. Keen to attract even more extra funding above and beyond their original $100,000 target (which they've since sextupled) Creative Intelligence Arts have released a new developer diary discussing how terrain factors into the real-time strategy combat.

It will be interesting to see how many more pledges Project Phoenix attracts over the coming fortnight, especially since the initial target is notably low for a project of this scale. It's due out in 2015 on PC, with PS4 and Wii U ports under consideration.

Destiny Vidoc Reveals More Secrets

Destiny has revealed a few more of its secrets, courtesy of this new Silent Cartographer. I mean developer diary. Regardless, Bungie's new video discusses how they went about crafting a social FPS experience that still retains a strong storyline, the loot system, guns, customisation dynamic events and more.

And at a basic level, how "to make a world that people want to be in."

To say that we have 'high hopes' for Destiny would be an understatement, but since it's out in 2014, we'll have to wait and see whether it delivers.

Dragon Age: Inquisition Dev Diary Talks Being The Boss

Dragon Age III: Inquisition will cast players as The Inquisitor, giving us dominion over an influential organisation and its agent. As such, we'll have more responsibility and power than ever before, some of which is discussed in this new Gamescom developer diary from BioWare.

It's out next year, and we hope that BioWare's latest RPG will live up to the big decisions and freeform choice offered by the original game.

The latest developer diary for ambitious cross-generation openworld hack-a-thon Watch Dogs takes us into the motion capture studio, where Ubisoft have been painstakingly making combat as realistic and fluid as possible.

I recently interviewed animation lead Lars Bonde, who told us that Watch Dogs will use next-gen consoles to push graphical boundaries and feature extensive motion capture for even everyday scenes - such as being splashed by a passing taxi. Judging by what I saw of the latest production build at a recent preview event in Paris, this versatile player-driven adventure is definitely one to watch ahead of its release on November 22nd.

We'll know more about Killzone: Shadow Fall and other PS4 titles after Sony's E3 media briefing, slated for June 10th.

Lord of the Rings Online: Riders of Rohan DLC Developer Video Looks Epic

A new developer diary has emerged for the upcoming Lord of the Rings Online DLC, Riders of Rohan. The video shows off an impressive number of gorgeous looking environments, some familiar from the films and others brand new.

Rather than stick to the plains, the Rohan DLC will also allow you to explore Fangorn Forest and the Anduin River. And what better way to explore this new world than with your new customisable horse? Long-time players of the game will also be grateful for the Level Cap increase, which is now at Lv.85.

Check out the video after the jump.
