Skydrift Complete Pack | £2.05 (With Code) | Green Man Gaming | PC

We frequently see this 8/10 arcade aerial racing game hit rock bottom prices, but Green Man Gaming have upped the ante by throwing in the entire DLC smorgasbord too. It's well worth checking out if you fancy the idea of going up tiddly up up and down tiddly down down in a flying machine. Not unlike some sort of magnificent man.

Strictly speaking, we've seen this 30p cheaper thanks to GMG's voucher code, but you can't go far wrong here. Sine Mora is an excellent SHMUP (my few minor gripes such as overly fussy backgrounds and occasionally indistinct hitboxes pale in comparison to the amazing art direction), and a steal for less than £2.

We're always a little sad to see this 8/10 arcade aerial racing game hit rock bottom prices, but frankly, we're mainly chuffed for you guys. SkyDrift is currently available for just under £2.50 at GMG (slightly less than their barmy £1.74 offer from last Christmas, admittedly), which is well worth checking out if you fancy the idea of going up tiddly up up and down tiddly down down in a flying machine. Not unlike some sort of magnificent man.

Green Man Gaming have slashed the excellent Sine Mora down to a paltry £1.99, which is seriously impressive for the gorgeous and challenging SHMUP. You can even plug in their latest voucher code for an extra 39p saving - and you'll get a Steam code to boot. Lovely.

Suda51’s Black Knight Sword Bleeds Copiously Over XBLA Next Week

'Tis But A Scratch!

The latest project from Grasshopper Manufacture and Digital Reality (the Sine Mora dream team) will arrive on Xbox Live Arcade next week: a sidescroller that clearly pays homage to Monty Python & The Holy Grail. And looks like one of Terry Gilliam's animations.

Black Knight Sword certainly looks the part, full of blood and offbeat weirdness. Matt has some further gameplay observations for you, in which he may have used the phrase "Terry Gilliam on crack." We'll call it a draw.

Sine Mora Out Now On PC, Have A Launch Trailer

Sensational side-scroller Sine Mora is out now on PC, as evidenced by this launch trailer. Digital Reality and Grasshopper Manufacture delivered a smooth and challenging take on traditional shoot 'em ups, and though I have some criticisms regarding its busy backgrounds as a SHMUP fanatic, I heartily agree with Matt's 8/10 review.

Note that you an save a little extra with voucher code GMG20-FXYD1-7WHP1, but I'm pretty sure it's a one-shot deal. Chances are you spent it on Dead Island or The Darkness II last week.

Oh happy day! One of the finest strategy games of yesteryear - Digital Reality's Imperium Galactica II - has returned, for a fresh release on the iPad. A fantastic mish-mash of real time tactics, real time strategy, empire building and 4X gameplay, Imperium Galactica II is still an absolutely cracking game, and a must for anyone who, like me, was obsessed with 90s/early-00s strategy titles.

It costs £2.49, and you can (and should) buy it right now. Because it's excellent.

Sine Mora Review | Dieselpunk Daredevil

Platform: XBLA

Developers: Digital Reality, Grasshopper Manufacture

Publisher: Microsoft Studios

There aren't many games in which an anthropomorphic bison explains how he blackmailed a cancer-suffering rape victim to help him go time-travelling on a spree of murderous vengeance. Then again, Grasshopper Manufacture aren't your usual band of games developers. Their sweeping designs, combined with Digital Reality's impressive execution, have created a modern shoot 'em up that tries to be a little bit different.

Well, they've certainly succeeded.

Sine Mora Review | Dieselpunk Daredevil

Sine Mora attempts to bring a number of things to the genre. SHMUPs are classic games, often considered niche titles, thumb-blisteringly difficult, and predicated on a spirit of score chasing, evasive manoeuvring, and hardcore bragging rights.

New Sine Mora Trailer Confirms Price, Many Deaths

Sine Mora, the dieselpunk XBLA sidescroller from Digital Reality and Suda51's Grasshopper Manufacture, was given a firm March release date last week. However, this new trailer has confirmed the March 21st launch along with a 1200 Microsoft Points price tag - and shows off the breathtaking 2.5D graphics as well as satisfyingly hardcore SHMUP action. Over 60 different ships, weapons and gadgets will be available for our perusal, backed up by an original score from Silent Hill composer Akira Yamaoka.

Sine Mora Dated For March On XBLA

Sine Mora, the dieselpunk side-scrolling SHMUP from Digital Reality and Grasshopper Manufacture, will be exclusively releasing on Xbox Live Arcade next month. The project has been dated for March 21st, and if Matt's Sine Mora hands-on preview is anything to go by, will feature enough pulse-pounding action and gorgeous 3D visuals for the whole class. A range of difficulty  modes should also make it accessible to genre newcomers but punishing enough to satisfy bullet hell veterans.

New Sine Mora Trailer Shows Off Normal vs. Insane Modes

We've had our eye on dieselpunk SHMUP Sine Mora for a little while now, impressed last year by its swift accessibility, large boss battles and Insane difficulty level for genre veterans. Speaking of which, Grasshopper and Digital Reality have just dropped a new trailer for the game, showing off the difference between the Normal and Insane levels, and the sort of the experiences one can expect to find within each. Be assured, from what we tried of it back at Gamescom, the Insane mode is indeed insane and don't be fooled by the tame Normal screens here - yes, it provides a more generous learning curve to newcomers (and we think that's a good thing, if you can have your cake and eat it too), but things get suitably madcap as levels go on.

Haegemonia: Legion Of Iron | £3.99 | Impulse Driven | PC

The PC has no shortage of real-time space strategy games, but Haegemonia stands out from the pack thanks to its technically accomplished graphics, storyline and randomised events that add a new dimension to the action. Impulse Driven have knocked four quid off the current asking price, making it an impressive deal if you like your strategy to be deep, beardy and slightly impenetrable. Well worth a punt for strategy fans.

Sine Mora To Be An XBLA Exclusive

Digital Reality, the co-developers along with Grasshopper Manufacture on Sine Mora, have revealed that the hotly anticipated the dieselpunk SHMUP will be releasing as an Xbox LIVE Arcade exclusive.

"Mixing classic shooter sensibilities with next-gen presentation, Sine Mora is a gorgeous shmup that appeals to both hardcore and casual gamers alike," said Digital Reality. "The engrossing Story Mode weaves an over-the-top tale, while the Arcade Mode provides deep, satisfying gameplay to challenge fans of the genre. Sine Mora features over 60 combinations of planes, characters and time manipulation devices to complete every beautifully-crafted stage with scaling difficulty. All of this is set to an epic score of soaring heights, composed by Akira Yamaoka, acclaimed for his works on the Shadows of the Damned and Silent Hill series."

We're inclined to agree from what we've seen of the game so far, and you can check out our Sine Mora preview here. There's no info on a release date or price point, but when we know more so will you.

Let's make no bones about it, SkyDrift was pretty good to begin with, but now with the addition of the 'Gladiator Multiplayer Pack' Digital Reality have made it even better. You can now get a slice of arcade, dogfighting action for 400MSP on Xbox LIVE or £4.99 on PSN.

We'll have an impressions piece for you this week. In the meantime, feast your eyes on the screenshots after the jump.

SkyDrift Review | If Blur Had Wings...

Platform: XBLA (reviewed) | PSN | PC

Developer: Digital Reality

Publisher: Digital Reality

To say that SkyDrift looks good for a marketplace arcade title wouldn't really do it justice. It's as if Blur downed a bottle of Skittles vodka, had a night of passion with Diddy Kong Racing and gave birth to an airborne destruction derby that is like a colourful banquet for the eyes. Deliciously rendered environments, jungles, deserts, seaside vistas and towering mountains melt into a rainbow horizon as you run and gun your way to the finish line.

SkyDrift pits eight players against one another in a race with a simple aim: win, by any means necessary. You start out with only two planes, each with only a single skin, but there are eight planes in total to unlock, with four skins four each. All of the planes have different statistical weightings across five categories: speed, boost, acceleration, manoeuvrability and armour. more interestingly, the differences are really noticeable and you'll find yourself plumping for a favourite relatively quickly.

SkyDrift Review | If Blur Had Wings...

Getting to grips with your plane is very simple. Accelerate with the right trigger, decelerate with the left. You use the left stick to pitch left and right and vary your altitude, with the right stick used to augment turns by going side-on and pulling off acrobatic stunt moves. These along with slipstreaming, hugging the ground, squeezing through gaps, cutting off your opponents and blasting them out of the sky will earn you Boost, executed by pressing 'X'.
