Gears of War: Ultimate Edition drops to £24.99 at Zavvi

Following months and months of speculation that circulated the internet (as it does) of a possible remaster to the highly rated Gears of War title we were finally presented with leaked footage of the title back in May via YouTube thanks to the ever so covert user SparCkL.

Admittedly not the best video footage we have ever seen, we could however take from it that Gears of War: Ultimate Edition would run at 60fps in multiplayer, featuring new cutscenes with a whole suite of familiar game modes.

Game changer - Bethesda schooled the industry with Fallout 4's reveal

Sometimes the hype surrounding a game can outshine and eclipse the news of its actual release, even if it hasn't been officially announced. As an extreme example, Half-Life 3 has to be the most wanted game of the last decade, yet we know nothing about it, hell, we don't even know if we are ever to play Half-Life 3 yet Valve have the most valuable marketing tool they could every achieve: hype.

But at least Valve hasn't tormented us by announcing Half-Life 3, which is more than can be said for many publishers out there. Nintendo decided to show us Zelda on Wii U before cruelly snatching it away from us. BioShock Infinite went through years of interminable delays, to say nothing of Duke Nukem Forever. And don't get us started on Mass Effect: Andromeda, which EA dangled in front of us before spending an age talking about a poxy Minions tie-in. Hype is good, but firing us up too early can be absolutely awful.

Thankfully Bethesda are doing things differently, and more importantly, revealing games right.

Game changer - Bethesda schooled the industry with Fallout 4's reveal

GamesRadar recently spoke with Bethesda's Pete Hines asking why Bethesda decided to announce Fallout 4 at E3 allowing themselves only a 5 month window to the November 10th release limiting any time to create a buzz.

Pre purchase Trackmania Turbo on Xbox One and PS4 for only £22.87

Trackmania Turbo was announced by Ubisoft at this years E3 and will release for both Xbox One and Playstation 4 on November 27th 2015. To be quite honest it looks like a rather cool fun racer and at £22.87 seems like a no brainer for a very good pre purchase price from Zavvi.

Make sure to use code E3UBI drop the listed price of £25.99.

HoloLens looks incredible, but we hope it won't cost this much...

With a release date not quite confirmed in ink yet for the HoloLens it's quite difficult to estimate what the price tag for this device is going to stand at, although we fully expect to be looking somewhere in the £300 - £600 region,HoloLens looks incredible, but we hope it won't cost this much... possibly feeling quite comfortable pushing our wallets to the £1000 given the absolutely amazing Minecraft demo we witnessed as a part of Microsoft's E3 presentation.

Shopto.net have just recently listed the Microsoft HoloLens on their website and although it is quite clearly displayed as 'TBC' using the integrated HotUKDeals share button revealed somewhat of a surprise to us...

Need for Speed confirmed for November 3rd release - new gameplay & details revealed

What an amazing performance EA put on for us yesterday at their E3 presentation. Amongst notable upcoming entries to the gaming world from EA was the November 3rd release of the 2015 reboot for Need for Speed. With five ways to play Need for Speed has been marketed as '20 years of history and inspiration from some of the most beloved games in the venerable franchise, to create the definitive Need for Speed experience.'

Five ways to play a Need for Speed title seems to be an interesting concept so maybe it's probably best if we take a closer look at them.

Xbox One Elite Controller only £44.97

Update: The Xbox One Elite Controller now seems to have made quite a clever disappearing act from Gamestop. It is however listed at Shopt.net for £49.85

So we learned yesterday all about Microsofts new toy. The Xbox One Elite Controller is simply a beast. With an RRP of $149.99 we don't think it was intended to be offered to us as a cheap luxury which has me thinking somebody hasn't told the guys over at Gamestop where they currently have it listed for £44.97.

There is a very high chance that this could become somewhat of a minor pricing error (you would be right in thinking somebody has missed a 1 off in there somewhere) but as the old saying goes "you gotta be in it to win it". Good luck guys.

EA announce Mass Effect: Andromeda for 2016

Unfortunately EA decided to give the upcoming Minions: Paradise mobile game more screen time than the highly anticipated 2016 release Mass Effect: Andromeda so there isn't really much we can tell you. We can however show you the the announce trailer which was displayed as EA opened up their E3 2015 appearance.

Mass Effect: Andromeda is built using the EA Frostbite engine and has no continuity from the original Mass Effect trilogy and as suggested in the title takes place in the all new galaxy Andromeda.

HoloLens dedicated Minecraft confirmed at E3

We really are excited about HoloLens and the amazing advantages it appears to be able to bring to gaming when it is finally released. I personally have no time for Minecraft, even though I can see why others do and why they are more than happy to spend countless hours in their little worlds... until now.

Mojang's "Director of Fun" Lydia Winters took to the stage today during the Microsoft E3 presentation to demonstrate for us a HoloLens dedicated version of Minecraft, and it was fantastic!

Bethesda to announce Dishonored 2 tomorrow?

Well that is certainly what it sounds like in what has been described as an accidental mic broadcast on Bethesda's Twitch channel with Arkane Studios president Raph Colantonio and Harvey Smith (who co-directed Dishonored 1) rehearsing a presentation ahead of their E3 press conference tomorrow.

Bethesda Tweeted the following shortly after acknowledging the exposed rehearsal.

Rise of the Tomb Raider E3 preview trailer makes its way online

The Rise of the Tomb Raider E3 preview trailer has made an appearance on the internet a little earlier than intended. With an estimated release date of December 2015 Rise of the Tomb Raider will launch on both Xbox One and Xbox 360 as a timed exclusive for the Microsoft consoles.

The preview runs for 1:36 and doesn't include any gameplay action, but a mini movie of Lara Croft with Camilla Luddington reprising her role as the tomb raider is enough to keep us going until E3 in the hope of something more.

In addition to the preview trailer the box art for Rise of the Tomb Raider has also been revealed recently by Crystal Dynamics and Xbox.

Nine New GTA V Screens Escape E3

NEW GTA V SCREENSHOTS EVERYBODY! Yeah, this one is pretty self-explanatory. Are we trawling for shameless hits by slinging up screens of what will probably be the most popular game of the year not called Call of Duty? Probably.

We advise clicking on each picture to get a full-size shot, and then printing them off for a fully tactile experience. Even better, print them out multiple times, construct a blanket from them, and wrap yourself up in a duvet of pixellated crime to hibernate until September.

Disney Infinity Shows Off Its Versatility Whilst Shamelessly Trawling For E3 Awards

I love this new Disney Infinity trailer. Every time I see more of this game, it impresses me to a greater and greater degree. Of course, we still don't know if Avalanche Software can pull all of the threads together to make Infinity a coherent, accessible experience, but we're crossing every single appendage we have in the hopes that they can.

This E3 trailer uses the frame of canvassing for awards to show off just how many gameplay styles are represented in Disney Infinity. Please, please be good. It looks so very promising.

RUMOUR: Microsoft Prepping For Their Own Reveal This April

Sony's gamesmanship was cracking. First came Kaz Hirai, scoffing at the notion that Sony might be concerned with going first. Then came the news that Sony were readying a reveal for as early as February. Finally, on Wednesday, Sony lifted the lid on their plans for next gen.

For the story to be any good, Microsoft must now be scrabbling around furiously to cobble together some sort of a comeback in the hopes of not losing ground to their competitor ahead of conventions season.

The Thunderdome presents... CONSOLE WARS!! Raaaaaawwwwrrrrrr! Maybe.

Mental Masturbation Marketing: Why E3 and Gamescom Should Ditch The Booth Babes Too

I want to start this little piece off with a disclaimer. I like women. I like the female form. Women are wonderful, and I know that I am not alone in thinking so. Of course, I know as well that this shared appreciation has been used to sell everything from cars to soft drinks to electronic consumer goods. Market research has suggested that the sight of a near-naked woman crawling across the face of a smartphone will make it more appealling to a young male demographic.

It's this sort of thinking that makes me feel like  a grubby, sexualised simpleton, with only my dick for a brain. Except I'm not, and I'd rather that companies didn't aggressively suggest through their marketing campaigns that I am. Everyone knows what's happening, but no-one talks about it. As one Eurogamer Expo attendee said, it's a little like a fart in a lift, but for one significant difference. We can escape from sexualised marketing if we choose to.

This is seemingly the thought of EG MD Rupert Loman, who has pledged to crack down on booth babes for next 2013, apologising for the few companies who cloaked themselves in T&A at this year's show, and promising formal guidelines that will hopefully make it so that "next year the only thing people will be talking about will be the games". It's not a draconian policy dictating dress codes for women, it's not a policy borne out of "Think of the children!" sentimentality, it's about putting an archaic, sexist marketing model aside, embracing an industry that no longer needs.

Dishonored Reveals Closed-Door E3 Demo Footage

One Objective, Myriad Options

Arkane Studios' Dishonored was one of our picks of E3 2012, and I emerged from a preview session gushing about its freeform assassination gameplay, gorgeous artwork and the ability to possess a fish. Seriously, not enough games let us do that.

However, Bethesda has now released two guided gameplay videos of Dishonored's Golden Cat mission, which were only previously available behind closed doors to us press types. Each 15-minute long section of direct-feed gameplay footage shows off a different approach to completing the mission: one stealthy and minimising collateral damage, the other all guns blazing. Definitely check this out while reading our hands-on preview.

Reggie Criticises "Insatiable" Nintendo Fanbase

"We Gave Them Pikmin. And Then They Say: What Else?"

Nintendo Of America boss Reggie Fils-Aime has hit back at disgruntled fans who grumbled about their E3 showcase, labelling them as "insatiable" despite revealing several major games like Pikmin 3 and New Super Mario Bros U. According to the popular figurehead, "the gaming community is unable to differentiate between a phenomenon and something that is ho-hum."

Yikes. Full story below.

Iwata Admits Ninty E3 Press Conference Failings

Urges Us To Play Wii U Before Delivering Judgement

While I actually enjoyed Nintendo's E3 press conference from within the Nokia Theatre, the presentation certainly didn't pack the punch that many of us hoped it would. Ninty president Satoru Iwata has gone on record to admit that they "couldn't fully explain" the Wii U's unique features during the show, but strongly urges players to get hands-on before jumping to any snap decisions.

Watch 7 Brutal Minutes From The Last Of Us

Gameplay Demo Brings More Than A Few Cracked Skulls

We knew it was coming, and we knew it was going to be gritty, but we weren’t expecting it to be quite that brutal. Sony decided to close their press conference at this year’s E3 by giving us just over 7 minutes of in-game action from Naughty Dog’s next title The Last Of Us. We’ve got the whole thing after the jump.
