Far Cry 4 is great value at £25.18 on PS4

Far Cry 4 deals haven't been great since launch, which is a shame as we really want you to buy it and enjoy the good times. Thankfully, it's now available for just £25.18 if you use the WELCOME discount code with a new account. If you can't be bothered with the faff, it's only £27.98 without the code, which is still the cheapest price around.

Far Cry 4 takes the action to the Himalayas and once again proves to be one of the greatest names in open-world gaming out there. Admittedly, many of the mechanics are the same as FC3, but the new setting makes everything feel fresh enough to dive back in. Plus you get to ride elephants into fortresses or play in co-op with a pal controlling the gyrocopter. PS4 owners will find some 'Keys to Kryat', DLC codes to give to their friends so they can play co-op with them for a few hours, without even owning the game.

The swagalicious Far Cry 4: Kyrat Edition is only £39.99 on PS4, £34.99 on PS3

Far Cry 4 is fantastic fun and a shining light in an otherwise horrific year for Ubisoft. Better yet, the swagtastic Kyrat Edition is only £39.99 on PS4 or £34.99 on PS3.

You'll get the game along with a Pagan Min figurine, travel journal, DLC, poster, map and more inside a massive box. Thanks to benrelics @ HUKD and neotrix for the tip!

Alternatively the Far Cry 4 standard edition is less than £30 on PS4 and Xbox One.

Top 7 Gaming Features We Need In Real-Life

Games are great, they really are. They allow us to do things that science, reality and the like are probably never going to allow. It's not just the glory of stabbing dragons in the face, or the elation of winning the world cup that we wish would spice up the real world every now and then though. There are lots of little features in gaming that we take for granted, but would be incredibly helpful in the real world.

Here's seven of the best. Don't forget to let us know some of your own too!

Fast Travel

Top 7 Gaming Features We Need In Real-Life

Naturally if we're following gaming convention, you will of had to have visited your destination at least once by natural methods first. After that though, being able to pick a destination and then just be there would make life much simpler. Being late for work, or driving across the country for birthdays would no longer mean numb bums in trains, planes and automobiles.

Get on it science!

And what better way to select your fast travel destination than your very own RobCo Pip-Boy 3000. This wrist-mounted personal information processor has been the go-to gadget of the apocalypse in the Fallout series and it's clearly the way to go. Pulling a phone out of your pocket is so last century you know, you savage. It's all about wearable tech nowadays, so would someone kindly get this sorted en masse?

Ubisoft declares war on "fraudulent" serial keys, but hits gamers in the crossfire

Ubisoft find themselves in the headlines once again as angry gamers flock to the forums, complaining that their Far Cry 4 keys were mysteriously deactivated without any warning or explanation. It eventually transpired that all of these keys were bought from serial key resellers, companies that buy and sell on digital codes at significant discounts, with Ubisoft claiming that the keys in question were "fraudulently" obtained in the first place.

It's an interesting situation and there usually two sides to every story, but in this case, I feel that there are three. Publishers, illicit sources of serial keys and gamers stuck right in the crossfire. And everyone has something to learn here -- Ubisoft especially.

To be clear, the sale of Steam, Origin, PSN, Xbox Live and Uplay codes is legal and most sites comport themselves openly and legitimately. Everyone from Green Man Gaming to GamersGate, CDKeys and SimplyCDKeys. However, this is apparently a special case.

Far Cry 4 is brilliant. It's one of the few larger Ubisoft titles that manages to deliver on all fronts without compromising itself through awful design decisions, needless bloat, and all-too-ubiquitous Uplay integration. The worst thing we can say about it is that it feels more like Far Cry 3.5 than a truly new-gen sequel, but that doesn't really matter. Two words: exploding elephants.

Destiny, NBA 2K15, Far Cry 4 or LittleBigPlanet 3 only £22.49 on PS4 - US PSN Account required

If you have a US PSN account, GameDealDaily are back with one of their seriously cheap PSN code deals. You can pick up Destiny, NBA 2K15, Far Cry 4 or LittleBigPlanet 3 for only £22.49 -- though you can only redeem them using a US PSN Account!

The procedure is a little different to the norm. You'll need to pay £22.49 for the '4 games pick 1' voucher code, then redeem said code on the official Sony website for the game you want. Bear in mind that "the redemption website is experiencing issues which may result in users unable to complete the process" so definitely approach with a little caution. Far Cry 4 Review | When Rambo Met Dumbo
There's a good reason as to why this review has taken a while to get here. Kyrat is massive, there are simply so many things to do in Far Cry 4. As soon as the first introductory mission had passed, I ignored the story completely, jumped into Little Nellie and took to the skies, cackling and running down honey badgers from the air. hunting things is actually the best way to start Far Cry 4, to be honest. The ammo pouches and loot sacks you have to begin with are rubbish, and so skinning the various species of creatures roaming the Asian forests and mountains provides the only way to expand your arsenal. And believe me, you'll want to expand you're arsenal.

The other day I went for a swim in a serene lake. A glimmer caught my eye and I swam below to find a cornucopia of rare treasures and a shiny new gun. Then a pair of massive Demon Fish decided they wanted to eat me for lunch, and I panicked and mashed some buttons and fled the scene with the barest sliver of life left, retiring to dry land and a hut where a demonic mask sang foreboding songs at me. Then some Royalist punks came by in a red truck, and I set them on fire and stole their things. Truck included.

The things you can do with fire in this game...

There are moments in Far Cry 4, often when you've climbed your way above the skyline -- Kyrat is a mountainous places, far more so than the islands of FC3, and you have a grappling hook to help you traverse the undulating landscape in this game -- when the game takes your breathe away. It's a game still tethered to last-gen, using a last-gen engine and assets, but the development team have done a phenomenal job of making Kyrat look stunning. This is a world that's simply captivating to be in and explore, littered as it is with geographical and architectural wonders, not to mention collectibles that reveal more about the place. Kyrat is a fictional country, but it has elements of Kashmir and Nepal about it, with the Himalayas to the north and the notion of a beautiful, mystical country torn apart by war.

Far Cry 4 - Kyrat Edition just £44.99 at Amazon

Far Cry 4 is brilliant. I'm finding it more than makes up for the disappointment of Assassin's Creed: Unity, and I've become a monstrous arena fighter, a wingsuited menace for royalist scum, and the bane of honey badgers everywhere.

The Kyrat Edition of the game includes a figurine of Pagan Min, travel journal, propaganda poster, and map of the game world. It also includes the Hurk's Redemption Limited Edition, with three extra missions and the Impaler Harpoon gun. Thanks Pr3mi3r!

PS4 Console + Far Cry 4 for £319.85

A simple, but brilliant PS4 console bundle that sees Sony's console paired with the mighty Far Cry 4. There haven't been many Far Cry 4 PS4 bundles so far as the game has been retaining it's value well. That said, we ran a hot deal for this very bundle earlier this month and this offer is £10 cheaper. Act fast.

I've been hammering Far Cry 4 for a while now and have been having an absolute blast with the Himalayan adventure. It's not quite the massive departure I was hoping for following the excellent third game, but there's never a dull moment, that's for sure. If this deal isn't singing to your wallet or you're not bothered about Far Cry 4, maybe you can be tempted by one I posted yesterday for a white Ps4, LittleBigPlanet 3 and the Last of Us for £299.99. Not shabby at all, right?

Thanks to sharkalos.

Far Cry 4's opening is a bit brilliant, really. In fact, for sheer insanity, I'd go so far as to say that it tops its predecessor by a significant margin. You thought Vaas was a bit of a live wire? Well, he doesn't have a thing on Pagan Min.

We'll have our Far Cry 4 review for you soon, but in the interim, here's a look at the game's first 20 mins.

Those of you with current-gen consoles looking for a last minute bargain ahead of Far Cry 4's release tomorrow should take note of this deal from Tesco Direct. By using the voucher code below, the price falls to the cheapest we've seen for a pre-order, and will save you around £7 compared to the next best offer. Do bear in mind that the code will only work with new accounts.

The Limited Edition comes with the Hurk's Redemption missions, which apparently provides an extra hour of gameplay and a harpoon gun. We'll be delivering our official verdict later this week, but considering how impressed Jon was with the way Far Cry 4 goes between the relatively-realistic open world sandbox and a spiritual dimension where you have a tiger at your command, it's almost safe to say that if you enjoyed its predecessor you'll find some fun in this instalment. Eyeing up a bargain on Far Cry 4 or GTA V ahead of their launches next week? Well, there's still mileage to be had on the Rakuten voucher code.

NB. Remember, you'll need to use the code MSERAK10 to knock a tenner off of these titles and get them at these prices. You'll need to fire up a new account if you've already taken advantage of this voucher code, but all you need for that is a different email address.

PS4 owners, do be aware that in typical Sony fashion, PSN maintenance has been scheduled the night before these two games release. Thanks Assassin82!

Twitter Reacts... Ubisoft abandons Steam - "How to invite piracy"

Ubisoft have confirmed that they won't be bringing their biggest hitters of this winter -- Assassin's Creed: Unity, Far Cry 4, or The Crew -- to Steam, preferring instead that people pay £50 for these PC titles on Uplay or at partnered retailers.

I gave my take on the matter earlier today, asking why on earth Ubisoft would shoot themselves in the feet like this. Is it to keep the markup on price? Does it have anything to do with any backroom deals between Ubisoft and their retail partners? Steam just won Platform of the Year at the Golden Joysticks with good reason -- its ubiquity on PC is powerful indeed. But maybe Ubisoft just wants to follow in EA's footsteps and consolidate their own online platform.

Needless to say, the internet was not happy.

Are Ubisoft abandoning Steam UK this Christmas to charge top dollar?

Are Ubisoft abandoning Steam UK this Christmas to charge top dollar?

Ubisoft have got a big winter release slate lined up, featuring three key titles in The Crew, Far Cry 4, and Assassin's Creed: Unity.

And it seems that none of them will be on Steam here in the UK this Christmas.

“We’ve been in discussions with Valve about ACU, Far Cry 4 and The Crew, but for the time being the games are not available via Steam in the UK. In the meantime, UK customers wishing to purchase either of these games digitally can do so by visiting the Uplay store, our retail partners or other digital distributors," Ubisoft told us in a statement this morning.

"ACU, Far Cry 4 and The Crew are available on Steam in other regions outside the UK."

A glance at the Uplay store reveals that Ubisoft have set their big hitters at a premium price on PC, with all three listed at £49.99, just a fiver short of their new-gen console equivalents, and thus it's easy to turn to pricing concerns as a reason for Ubisoft skipping out on Steam this season. Steam games rarely go above the £39.99 mark for regular versions, with Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare currently set at that price point, as the most expensive game on the service. Ubisoft's own South Park: The Stick of Truth can also be seen on Steam for the same top price point of £39.99, despite having released over six months ago.

Are Ubisoft abandoning Steam UK this Christmas to charge top dollar?

Ubisoft are not the first publisher to go this route. Since EA set up Origin, the likes of Battlefield, SimCity, and FIFA have all fetched elevated premium prices on the service, with the publisher clearly seeking to close the pricing gap between PC and console and maintain full control over pricing.

It seems as though that's exactly what's happening here.

Pre-order Far Cry 4 Limited Edition on PC for just £24.99 at SimplyCDKeys

With less than two weeks to go until its release, this deal for Far Cry 4 is a mighty tempting offer. Given that Ubisoft seems hell-bent on charging top dollar for this (most digital partners are selling for £50!), snap this one up while you can.

The Limited Edition comes with the Hurk's Redemption missions, which apparently provides an extra hour of gameplay and a harpoon gun. Considering how impressed Jon was with the way Far Cry 4 goes between the relatively-realistic open world sandbox and a spiritual dimension where you have a tiger at your command, we have have every faith that Ubisoft will be able to match the quality of its predecessor. Please note that this deal will require a uPlay account to redeem and play. Thanks to greysquaill @ HUKD for the find!

The Sunday Seven: Why Far Cry 4 is Set to Own 2014

With one short month to go before Far Cry 4 lands, we take a decisive look at all the available evidence, including our very own hands-on sessions, to make the case that we could be looking at a Game of the Year contender here. So dive into this week’s Sunday Seven: Why Far Cry 4 is Set to Own 2014.

The Sunday Seven: Why Far Cry 4 is Set to Own 2014

The honey badgers will mess you up

You wouldn’t think it to look at them, but the honey badgers are arguably the most vicious creatures in Kyrat. Hunting missions will make a return, but using fire or explosions to kill animals will result in damaged pelts that are worth less cash and possibly not be as useful for crafting. Looks like we’ll have to avoid using rocket launchers and mines on the monochrome missile-like bastards then. Other animals that want to eat your eyes include wolves, rhinos, leopards, eagles, cave bears and much more. Come at me, nature!
