Fifa Street (2012) | £14.86 With Code | ShopTo | Xbox 360 & PS3

FIFA Street kind of does for the street football sub-sub-genre what Skate did for the skateboarding crow. Deceptively deep, and managed primarily by the two sticks, it's a good game, there's just not that much to it. Thankfully, it's now dropped under the £15 mark, so if you want a little flavour in your footy, then this is worth a look.

Nice one CyberbobGR.

UK Games Charts | 19th May 2012

Dear god! It's all change this week, as the number one and two spots are beset by newcomers. Max Payne 3 takes the crown this time, having outsold the PC-only Diablo III by just 8,000 units. Previous incumbent - Sniper Elite v2 - drops to fourth, with Mass Effect 3 falling out of the top ten entirely, and Modern Warfare 3 making a bit of a comeback.

Sniper Elite V2 is still sitting pretty at number one this week, and the only changes tothe top ten are that FIFA Street and Prototype 2 have swapped places, and Assassin's Creed Revelations has jumped five places and bumped Modern Warfare 3 out of the list. one can't help but wonder if, instead of saving all of the money for marketing in the most saturated period of the year in winter, it might be a better idea to spend half of the budget dropping one or two titles earlier in the year. It's working for 505.

And this week's winner is...Prototype 2. Activision and Radical Entertainment have knocked The Witcher 2 from the top spot with a fine showing on release from their sequel to 2009's mass-murder simulator. Prototype 2 recorded greater launch sales than Kinect Star Wars and The Witcher 2: Enhanced Edition, though it should be noted that those two games were platform exclusives (PC sales of the latter counting for less than 2%), but failed to match those of the original game despite a Tuesday global release.

The usual suspects make up the rest of the top five, with CD Projekt RED's critically acclaimed RPG slipping to 6th.

UK Games Charts | 21st April 2012

There's a new face in the charts this week (sort of), as Geralt of Rivia returns to take the top spot with the Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings - Enhanced Edition. The Xbox 360 exclusive has dethroned FIFA Street, although the usual suspects make up the rest of the top five. 98% of the Enhanced Edition sales came from the console version, with 2% made up of fresh PC purchases.

The Witcher 2 originally made its debut in last year's charts at #5.

And just like that, the old triumvirate returns. After a week off, as Kinect Star Wars made a barnstorming debut, FIFA Street returns to the top of the charts. There's a little bit of reshuffling in the top ten, but otherwise it's all familiar faces.

Drumroll, please! Kinect Star Wars has topped the UK charts at the first time of asking, succeeding in knocking FIFA Street from the top spot, and becoming the first Kinect-exclusive title to make it to number one. It's also the first Star Wars title to make it to the top since The Force Unleashed did it back in 2008.

There are a host of familiar faces in the top ten, with the only other new entries inside the top forty being Devil May Cry HD Collection at 18th and Kinect Rush at 32nd.

FIFA Street | £30.85 | Simply Games | PS3

A fresh take on the old EA BIG series, the new FIFA Street uses the FIFA 12 engine to good effect. We wish there were more game modes (particularly online), but it's still worth a look for the footy fan. Simply Games are rocking things today, and have the cheapest price by a quid, if you missed out on the Tesco voucher deal. Good spot, Buyt56.

UK Games Charts | 31st March 2012

EA are sitting pretty at the top of the charts once again, thanks to FIFA Street's continued tenure as the UK number one. The freestyle footy experience is followed up by strong continued sales of Mass Effect 3 and the latest Tiger Woods title, granting Electronic Arts the entirety of the top three - and four out of the top five due to FIFA 12's omnipresence. EA's aggressive targeting of the spring period seems to be paying dividends.

The 'divisive' (to put it mildly) Operation Raccoon City is still charting well. While critics have laid into Slant Six' latest title, the cooperative action definitely seems to be resonating with gamers.

Namco Bandai have enjoyed a fairly mixed week of trading - with the lengthily-titled Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja Storm Generations shadow cloning its way into sixth place while BugBear's Ridge Racer Unbounded languishes in the high twenties.

As always, we've got the UK top ten below complete with links to our reviews where applicable.

UK Games Charts | 24th March 2012

In spite of a relatively poor critical reception, to put it mildly, the big surprise this week is Capcom's Resident Evil spin-off - Operation Raccoon City - debuting at number 2. FIFA Street still holds pole position this week, with its big brother holding strong in fourth.

Elsewhere, Battlefield 3 gets a leg up, as does F1 2011, with the latter no doubt boosted by the start of what's looking to be a hugely entertaining and competitive season in Formula One this year.

FIFA Street Review | Futsal Factory

Platforms: PS3 | Xbox 360 (reviewed)

Developer: EA Canada

Publisher: EA Sports

From the stadia to the streets: EA Sports' latest footballing extravaganza scales down the grandiose drama of a Sky Sports Saturday that we saw in FIFA 12, to focus on the balletic nature of organised "street" football in a series reboot for one of EA BIG's flagship franchises, back in the day. FIFA Street started well as a series, before devolving into a mess of cartoonish button mashing, and this game is looking to inject a certain sense of professionalism back into proceedings.

FIFA Street Review | Futsal Factory

The starting point for that, has been the development of the game around the FIFA 12 engine. This means that players look, move, and react more realistically than they ever did before, that Wayne Rooney's in-game face will shatter mirrors just as easily as his real visage, and (most importantly) the Impact Engine is back.

UK Games Charts | 17th March 2012

EA must be pretty chuffed with themselves right about now. The UK chart is dominated by their titles, with the newly-released FIFA Street managing to dribble and trick its way above Mass Effect 3 for the top spot. Colour us surprised, but with the furore surrounding BioWare's controversial ending, we wouldn't be surprised if a few potential buyers are holding off. Just to cement EA's victory, the critically-acclaimed SSX and FIFA 12 have secured 3rd and 4th place respectively.

Elsewhere, the same old faces are jostling for market position, and there's nothing particularly new to report save id Software's RAGE making a surprise recurrence. However, it's much more interesting to note that GAME aren't stocking four of the top five titles, which is a worrying suggestion that the retailer may not be as important to UK retail as many currently believe.

As always, we've got the full chart below, and a FIFA Street review in the pipeline.

FIFA Street Demo Out Alongside New Trailer

EA have dropped a demo for the upcoming FIFA Street onto Xbox LIVE, with the PSN demo coming tomorrow, along with a new trailer that shows off some of the Premier League's finest.

The demo weighs in at 1.89 GB, and the full game will release on March 16th.

Moreover, EA have lifted the lid on pre-order rewards. Depending on the retailer, fans who pre-order FIFA Street will receive exclusive in-game access to the adidas all-star team featuring Messi. The pre-order offer also includes exclusive access to the Lionel Messi Barcelona venue, an environment inspired by street footballers playing in and around the Plaça de Catalunya in the historic center of Barcelona, that Messi helped design.

EA Sports Season Ticket holders will, of course, receive the game three days early.

New FIFA Street Producer Video Shows Off Game Modes

Creative Director Gary Paterson walks observers through the various game modes in EA Sports' upcoming celebration of footballing style - FIFA Street - detailing the differences in technical gameplay between Street and its larger, more conventional cousin. Dipping into what makes Futsal and Panna different from one another, and dispelling myths that this is simply dressed up five-a-side, Paterson gives a little insight into the nature of the game's content.

FIFA Street: Previous Games 'Left A Bad Taste In People's Mouths'

FIFA Street's producer Sid Misra has been pretty honest about the history of the franchise, suggesting that the overall quality of previous games in the series was lacking, particularly FIFA Street 3.
