The S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series is utterly sensational, an open-world apocalypse unlike any other. Uncompromising gameplay and incredible exploration go hand in hand, even if the story can be hard to follow at times. You can once again pick up the entire trilogy for just over a fiver on Bundle Stars.

I once wrote an article about how a hole in a fence proves that STALKER is brilliant. See also: Why We Love... A Gap In A Fence (And S.T.A.L.K.I.N.G.). Thanks jaystan!

Borderlands: The Handsome Collection Review | Butt Slams & Butt Stallions

Borderlands: The Handsome Collection is a whole lot of Borderlands. Borderlands 2 and The Pre-Sequel to be exact, remastered with crisp HD assets and shipped on a single disc with all the previously released downloadable content ready for action. Yes, there are far too many remasters on PS4 and Xbox One right now, but there's no quibbling with the value. We're talking dozens of hours of shooting, looting, butt slams and Butt Stallions as you return to Pandora and Elpis for another bloodsoaked foul-mouthed rampage, or visit for the first time to find out what you've been missing over the last three years.

There's so much content here, in fact, that this review would be several thousand words long if I attempted to fully critique both games again. Since Borderlands 2 and The Pre-Sequel remain unchanged in terms of gameplay, characters, missions and structure (they're identical right down to the menu tips, which still tout DLC that's actually included on the disc!), I'm going to link to our previous reviews, sum up the pertinent points and go into more detail about whether the new bells and whistles are worth the price of admission.

Beforehand, though, we need to look at a few new features that The Handsome Collection offers across both titles and some nifty cross-generation functionality that existing fans should take full advantage of.

Destiny Vanguard Edition | SimplyGames | £34.85
Destiny Starter Guide | Review

Destiny is an odd little thing: beautiful to behold, fun to play, yet lacking meaningful content and using a chance-based loot system to fill the void (and give you the illusion of accomplishing something). Still, multiplayer is great fun when you get a fireteam together, and I bet that plenty of you want to get involved just to be part of the conversation. SimplyGames' £34.85 price is nice and cheap for the Vanguard edition, which includes some extra DLC.

Borderlands 2 gets free Steam weekend

Not sure if Borderlands 2 is the right game for you? Pored over our detailed review and still can't make your mind up? Never mind, you most indecisive of gamers, because Gearbox' enormous shoot-and-looter is now free to play on Steam until Sunday evening.

If you get on with it, Steam have slashed their prices down for the standard and GOTY Editions, though we've occasionally seen it cheaper in GMG and Gamefly deals.

Borderlands 2 Vita Review | Impressive, But Not Quite Vital

Platform: PS Vita

Developer: Iron Galaxy Studios

Publisher: 2K Games

Borderlands 2 is probably the most impressive handheld game I've ever played. How could it not be? It's Borderlands 2!

Not a limp little spin-off or tatty tie-in: Borderlands 2 in its entirety. Every mission, every bandit, every ridiculous procedurally-generated gun, loads of DLC, all of it. Beyond a graphical downgrade, two-player cooperative cap and a few controls remapped to the rear touch pad, this is nothing less than the full PS3 version, even allowing you to transfer save files and Badass Ranks between the two platforms.

And that's a problem. Handheld games need to be designed and optimised specifically for their platform, but Iron Galaxy were locked into delivering an identical port, meaning that they had to find some corners to cut along the way. Many of which can make Borderlands 2's portable version as disappointing as it is astonishing.

E.Y.E: Divine Cybermancy Getting Free PvP Expansion Tomorrow

Bizarre yet compelling indie FPSRPG E.Y.E: Divine Cybermancy is getting a free DLC pack that bolts on a competitive PvP mode entitled 'Blood Games.' This should be an interesting way of seeing how our different builds stack up, but we certainly wouldn't have minded some extra story content. Either way, you can get a closer look at Blood Games in a new gameplay trailer ahead of its Steam release tomorrow.

Bungie: Destiny Will Require An Internet Connection

More Details & Wallpapers Emerge

Following Destiny's official reveal/big fat tease yesterday, Bungie has confirmed that their ambitious 'shared world shooter' will require a constant internet connection in order to function. The ability to cooperate with loads of other players in a persistent and evolving battle to save the last city on Earth is definitely going to be one of Destiny's most impressive unique draws, with gameplay resembling a cross between Halo, Borderlands and World Of Warcraft, so we're not going to kick off about the online requirement. Yet.

Top Ten Tuesdays | Borderlands 2 Survival Guide

Borderlands 2 is currently monopolising our disc drives and causing no small amount of sleep deprivation. As we discussed in our 9/10 review and PC video review, it really is a gloriously OTT triumph of big guns and bug funz.

However, it's also much more challenging than its predecessor thanks to the ferociously aggressive AI... and you'll likely find yourself fighting for your life more often than, perhaps, you'd like to admit. To this end, Carl and I have compiled a list of ten survival strategies that will help you live longer, kill harder and generally make the most of Gearbox's epic fun factory.

Note that this list won't contain any spoilers or boss strategies, but do feel free to get involved in the comments if you've got some specific tips to share!

10: Punch The Crystalisks!

Top Ten Tuesdays | Borderlands 2 Survival Guide

Crystalisks can be a formidable opponent if you're not well-prepared; capable of dishing out damage at both long, mid and short range. However, their obvious weak points are incredibly vulnerable to direct damage... and you might not know that they also take massively increased punishment from melee attacks.

Mid-level characters will only need one punch to shatter a leg segment. So long as you're willing to dodge and weave, a couple of well-placed blows are the most effective way of taking one down.

Borderlands 2 Review | MOAR!

Platforms: PC (tested) | PS3 | Xbox 360 (reviewed)

Developer: Gearbox Software

Publisher: 2K Games

Borderlands 2 is more Borderlands.

I don't mean this in a derogatory way. Far from it, since Gearbox' blockbuster follow-up is one of the most ambitious and exciting sequels of the generation. More - MOAR! - is the operative word here as Borderlands 2 takes the formula from the original FPSRPG and expands upon every single aspect; providing infinitely more variety, intensity, depth and belly laughs on top of what was already an incredibly compelling experience. More story. More guns. More personality. More crumpets. More everything.

Chances are you already know that Borderlands 2 is absolutely sensational, both when played solo or with three fellow vault hunters along for the wild ride. Put simply: it's the feel-good hit of the year.

Borderlands Players Will Unlock Exclusive Cosmetic Items In Sequel

Borderlands 2 will feature a much more robust cosmetic character editing suite, letting players equip their avatars with different skins, costumes and facial types. According to a new promotional poster (below), players of the original Borderlands will unlock exclusive heads and skins to use in the sequel.

I'd love to tell you lots more about Borderlands 2, but you'll sadly have to wait until Friday. Until then, might I suggest checking out our two-part Borderlands 2 hands-on preview, interview with art director Kevin Duc and E3 2012 Assassin/Commando preview?
