Game Buzz | Episode 35 - E3 2013: The Aftermath

We take a look at the landscape of the industry post-E3, discussing some of the little details and appraisals to come out of the news this week. We chat about the Xbox One, Microsoft's seemingly throwaway attitude to consumer concerns regarding the console's internet requirements, the return of the #dealwithit mentality, and the Achievements structure for next-gen; we look at Sony's clarification regarding Playstation Plus and the F2P opportunities that the service might provide; Jon lets rip with his outline of how EA should have presented Battlefield 4; and we take look at Ubisoft's indecision over the Wii U.

Game Buzz | Episode 34 - Who Will Win E3 2013?

There's only one thing on our minds this week: E3! We take a look at the predicted offerings from Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo and discuss what each company needs to do to have a good showing this year. We chat about the titles and unannounced offerings from certain studios that we're most excited about, and finally we attempt to predict who'll have the strongest showing come Monday's press conferences.

Before all of that, though, we get the knives out for Microsoft's willingness to trade away our consumer rights.

Do remember that you can enter our "Who Will Win E3?" poll for a chance to win a copy of The Last of Us. (You don't have to vote Sony.)

We came, we saw, we critiqued. The Xbox One was revealed in suitably buzzword-heavy fashion last night in an event beamed from a massive Redmond tent into millions of homes worldwide.

We slept on it and then convened to have a good old chinwag about the evening's revelations.

You can catch up with everything that happened over at the Xbox One hub here, and below are a few links to get you started. We'll have a YT embed for the cast shortly, but in the meantime just click here or on the banner above to listen.

It's just Jon and myself this week as Carl was off investigating WildStar (stay tuned for some big articles on that very soon). We eviscerate Nintendo's depressingly meagre Wii U Direct this week and discuss the implications of Ninty's new deal with SEGA; we take a look at EA's abdication of Nintendo's ailing console; we dance on the grave of the Online Pass and delight in the news of GT6 and Putty Squad's return, 20 years after it was never released for the Amiga; and we take a look at the recent formation of DICE LA, and what it might mean for EA and Star Wars.

This week, we find ourselves playing devil's advocate a lot. First we defend Windows 8's honour, and argue not only that it's possible the OS might not actually be the reason PC sales are down, but that it's made PC's accessible for many for the first time in years; we look at the latest rumblings from the rumour-mill, specifically Durango's backwards-compatibility or lack thereof, microtransactions potentially coming to Halo, and the resurfacing of Ryse on our radars; we chat a little about Bethesda's noise about noise, beg them to finish Prey 2, and look at Pete Hines' words on day-one DLC. Finally, we briefly discuss the emergence of Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon, the new Dark Souls II gameplay footage, and the Flashback sequel from Paul Cuisset.
