Game of Thrones - Episode 1: Iron from Ice free on Xbox One

Down from £3.99 Game of Thrones - Episode 1: Iron from Ice is now available on the Xbox Store for an extremely attractive £0.00. That translated to normal words equals FREE.

"Despite the limitations of its aging engine, Telltale have managed to replicate the world of Westeros in its cel-shaded art style. More than that, the dangers and intrigue from Game of Thrones are there, and if Iron From Ice is any indication, we could be in for an enjoyable yet emotional charged journey to save House Forrester."Game of Thrones Episode 1: Iron From Ice Review | “The North will remember that”

Telltale and Game of Thrones? It Could Be A Match Made In Heaven

If you saw the words Telltale and Game of Thrones pout together in that title up there and started having all of these strong, warm feelings and all of a sudden found yourself in uncontrollable throes of ecstasy, well, see a doctor. But the fact remains that an alliance between George Martin and Telltale Games might yield an episodic series of choice-driven, nail-biting, nerve-shredding moral quandaries the likes of which have never been seen.

If it happens, of course. Pinches of salt at the ready.

With season three fast approaching you may be looking forwards rather than backwards, but if you want to devour everything Thrones-related you'll want to take a look at the game. This RPG features a new story that links with elements of the first book. The story was actually approved by the original author, which will please fans of the books. Not as much as him actually finishing the remaining books already though.

Based on the books rather than the TV series and made in collaboration with the author himself, this is a decent tie-in if not overly adventurous when compared to the competition. There's a steady flow of DLC for the game though which hints at the developer's being keen to keep working on it as an ongoing franchise. Maybe they should let Mr. Martin get on with finishing off the books though. While you're waiting for the next series/book you could do far worse, so head on over to ShopTo and save yourself a few quid over the other sites.

UK Games Charts | 9th June 2012

It's week three for the Ghosts at the top of the UK charts, with Cyanide's Game of Thrones the only newcomer to the list. Mario's Olympics bid creeps back into the top ten at the expense of Prototype 2, and elsewhere it's really just a shuffled deck of familiar cards, with Battlefield 3 climbing, and everything else bar the top three slipping a bit.

Behold King's Landing In New Game Of Thrones Screens

A handful of new screenshots from Cyanide have given us a little taste of the game's representation of King's Landing - capital of Westeros. The new shots take a peek inside a brothel, show a Lannister guard in full armour, display a little inter-house scuffle, and give us a glimpse of a woman, presumably Cersei. You can also pick out a few of the house Sigils - primarily the Lannister lion and the Stark direwolf.

Hit the jump for screenshots and a little blurb on how King's Landing ties in with the game's story...

New Game Of Thrones RPG Screens Take Us To Westeros

Cyanide Studio has released some new screenshots of the recently-announced Game Of Thrones RPG. These six images follow the journey of the two playable characters in their quests the heart of Westeros. The fate of Mors, brother of the Night's Watch, will lead him from the Wall to King’s Landing through the hostile lands of the Gift. Alester, the red priest, will apparently "face trouble"s during his journey from Riverspring in Lannister territory to Red Keep in the capital. Much like the novels, the stories of the two heroes are told in turn - with each character getting the main role in his own chapter until their paths cross to pursue a common goal.

After A Game Of Thrones: Genesis failed to impress, it will be interesting to see whether Cyanide can do a better job despite having multiple projects on the go.

Game Of Thrones RPG Trailer
Focus Home Interactive and Cyanide Studio have released the first trailer for Game Of Thrones: the recently-announced RPG set in George R.R. Martin's fantasy universe. You'll see a lot of burly men walking dramatically towards the camera and hurting each other in the snow, basically. Cyanide promises to deliver a faithful and authentic take on the novels and television series with an all-new storyline... but considering their past form and several simultaneous projects, we're going to remain a little wary of this one for the time being.
