Halo: The Master Chief Collection Limited Edition down to £25 at Game

Halo: The Master Chief Collection sets a new benchmark for remakes, HD collections and re-releases by delivering thirteen years of excellence in a single purchase. Four restored campaigns, comprehensive multiplayer, one cohesive experience that reminds us just how important Halo was to videogames and the FPS genre... and how much fun it still is.

Our top score is usually reserved for games that push forwards in some profoundly meaningful way, but The Master Chief Collection looks backwards so lovingly, comprehensively and generously that I've got little choice but to come out swinging. Halo 3: ODST joins the Master Chief Collection this Friday [UPDATE: or not]

Halo: The Master Chief Collection is ready to make good on its apology package by adding Halo 3: ODST into the mix.

UPDATE: But not this Friday, apparently. "A placeholder release date for the ODST campaign for Halo: The Master Chief Collection was inadvertently listed on the Xbox Store," reads a new update from Microsoft. "We continue final testing and will make an official announcement once our release date is determined, and apologize for any confusion."

Halo: The Master Chief Collection is now £19.99 on Xbox One - time to finish the fight

Halo: The Master Chief Collection has long been castigated for its broken matchmaking, but I've encountered nothing but speedy loads and great matches over the last couple of months thanks to some great patches. I'd recommend it to any series fan as the amount of content is utterly staggering, including the four legendary campaigns that are a blast to revisit in their entirety, in co-op or cross game playlists. Well, apart from some of Halo 2's weaker missions, that is.

Go2Games are now selling a new copy for £19.99, which is a great price and one of the best we've ever seen without buying used.

Now that Halo: The Master Chief Collection is fixed, you can buy it for just £19.99 new

Halo: The Master Chief Collection is now £19.99 on Xbox One.

Now Halo: The Master Chief Collection is pretty much working as intended thanks to the massive recent patch, you can grab Spartan-117's entire gameography at a bargain £19.99 pre-owned using voucher code PATDAY20. It's well worth doing for series fans, as the amount of content is utterly staggering, including the four legendary campaigns that are a blast to revisit in their entirety, in co-op or cross game playlists. Well, apart from some of Halo 2's weaker missions, that is.

The multiplayer matchmaking has long been a serious source of anger and frustration, but the latest patch massively improves things for the vast majority of gamers and seems to be holding, even if there are a few wrinkles requiring attention. Such as bringing back SWAT, which is no longer in the playlist rotation. Don't jinx it, but Halo: The Master Chief Collection's major new patch seems to be working

But will it hold?

Following months of torment for many players and several weeks of teasing, not to mention the promise and subsequent cancellation of an open beta, 343 Industries have deployed the most significant Halo: The Master Chief Collection patch to date. Its aim? To finally fix matchmaking once and for all.

Don't jinx it. Don't even breathe. But as things stand, it seems to be working.
