Injustice: Gods Among Us £7.99 on Wii U

This is one of the best fighting games on the Wii U and an absolute bargain at £7.99.

Don't let the ever-dropping price fool you, this is a great fighting game. Parallel dimensions and an angry version of Superman provide the excuse for DC Comics' finest villains and heroes to smack the hell out of each other. The combat has similar controls to the Mortal Kombat games (same devs) and it feels smooth and incredibly fun to play. Each stage features interactive elements and NetherRealm have really delivered on some big promises. Batmobile rockets, gun turrets, dumpsters, statues, windows and more can be used to devastating effect. It's the most fun I've had in a fighting game since Street Fighter IV.

Injustice: Gods Among Us Ultimate Edition just £2.99 at Bundle Stars on PC

Injustice: Gods Among Us is awesome. It manages to make the Worst Superhero Ever and make him interesting in ways he's never been before. Superman goes bad, ladies and gents, it's a lot of fun.

This little digital deal is a bit of a steal,a nd the Ultimate Edition packs in six new playable characters, over 30 new skins, and 60 new S.T.A.R. Labs missions to go along with the main game. Netherrealm did a fine job on this one. Hell, they even managed to make Aquaman cool! Splendid spot by oUkTuRkEyIII!

Infamous and Injustice leading the line for PlayStation Plus freebies in December / January

Sony have revealed the leading lights of their PlayStation Plus Instant Game Collection across the next couple of months, with Injustice: Gods Among Us Ultimate Edition and Secret Ponchos coming to PS4 in December, and Infamous: First Light and The Swapper replacing them in January.

Injustice, despite being a last-gen title, marks the first triple-A appearance in the PS4's monthly freebie collection, and it'll be interesting to see hoiw Secret Ponchos stacks up on consoles. You can click here to see the PC version in action, but it's been a little sparse. Hopefully its release on PS4 will garner a bigger audience.

Infamous: First Light is a cracking standalone expansion, and a great way to test the waters for Second Son, and you can read my review of it here, and The Swapper is an absolutely brilliant, atmospheric puzzle platformer. Looks like PS4 owners are in for a good, wallet-friendly Christmas.

This week's Deals With Gold headlined by Batman and other superheroes

It's all about superheroes with this week's Deals With Gold initiative. As with the previous post, some of them are better than others, but we certainly won't turn our noses up at Arkham Asylum and City for under four quid apiece, even if you do need a Gold subscription to access these deal prices.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 for over £20, though? BAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!

Don't do it.

Parallel dimensions and an angry version of Superman provide the excuse for DC Comics' finest villains and heroes to regularly smack the hell out of each other. The combat has similar controls to the Mortal Kombat games (same devs), but feels smoother and much more fun to play. Each stage features interactive elements and NetherRealm have really delivered on some big promises. Batmobile rockets, gun turrets, dumpsters, statues, windows and more can be used to devastating effect. It's the most fun I've had in a fighting game since Street Fighter IV. This edition comes with the extra skins, new lab missions and the DLC characters Zod, Scorpion, Zatanna, Martian Manhunter, Lobo and Batgirl.

Zatanna Added to Injustice Roster

NetherRealm have built up a strong roster of characters for Injustice: Gods Among Us since release, with regular DLC drops doing a great job of keeping the game locked into our consoles whenever we feel a bit fighty.

Zatanna the magician is the latest fighter and we have history and gamplay videos for you after the break.  She's going to be a tough one in the hands on experts as she's very fast. Cool teleport moves and excellent juggling skills are ready to make your life hell. Her magic skills mean Superman in particular is going to have a tough time with her, which should please Batman no end. Unless Zatanna mind-wipes him again. Still, we'd rather risk that than have to spend any time with the cast of Charmed or Hermione. Videos after the break a review link here.

General Zod DLC Out Now for Injustice: Gods Among us

Been to watch Man of Steel recently? The epic brawls between Superman and his classic nemesis, General Zod, have probably nicely whetted your appetite to re-enact the Kryptonian grudge match in the best fighting game of 2013 so far.

For 400 MS points/£3.99 you can add General Zod to the roster in Injustice: Gods Among Us. He' has many exciting powers, like summoning a phantom creature for assistance, trapping foes in phantom prisons or just smashing them right through the moon. His appearance sadly doesn't take inspiration from any of the movies he's appeared in. Instead he's bald and has a terrible excuse for a beard. He looks rubbish to be honest, but he could be fun to play as.

Also newly available is a new Man of Steel skin (80 MS points/79p) for Superman and The New 52, Blackest Night 2 and Earth 2 packs for 240 points or £2.39 each. Enjoy a Zod gameplay trailer and a history video too after the break.

Get Over Here (For £3.99)

Here comes a new challenger. Mortal Kombat's Scorpion will join the ranks of Injustice: Gods Among Us' DC brawlers in a new DLC pack, which will set you back 400 MSP/£3.99. We reckon that the undead ninja will fit nicely into the roster, though the toned-down gore level might take some getting used to...

Injustice: Gods Among Us is an absolute hoot even if you're not the biggest DC Comics fan. You can check out our 8/10 review for our final verdict.

Injustice: Gods Among Us

You don't have to be a man to don a Batsuit and kick the Joker's bottom. Warner Bros. have released a new trailer for Injustice: Gods Among Us showing off the recently confirmed upcoming DLC character in action.

The download will cost 400 MS Points/ £3.99 on Xbox 360 and PS3, or nothing whatsoever if you've shelled out for the Season Pass.

"Who the hell is Lobo?" you might ask. Well he's an incredibly violent chap who happens to be the favourite DC character of Marvel creative legend Stan Lee.

And he forms the first character-based slice of DLC for Netherrealm's super-stuffed fighter -- Injustice: Gods Among Us. Lobo is available today on PSN/XBL for £3.99/400 MSP. Read our Injustice review here.

UK Games Charts | 4th May 2013

Dead Island: Riptide has survived to take the top spot in the UK charts once again this week, with a number of the fresh releases from the past few weeks holding strong in the top ten. It's good to see two 3DS titles standing firm, and Injustice holds on to the #2 spot, with Tomb Raider rising two places to complete the top three.

Elsewhere, as the Playoffs begin across the pond, it gives me a great deal of personal stisfaction to see NBA 2K13 sneak back into the top 40. Because it's awesome.

Batgirl Confirmed As New Injustice Character

It's official, Batgirl will be joining the likes of Batman, Flash, Joker and Wonder Woman in this year's top brawler, Injustice: Gods Among Us. The news was confirmed via the game's Twitter feed after a few leaked images appeared on the net.

There's no release date yet, but we presume she'll be included in the season pass. Expect a gameplay video showing off her skills at some point next week. We imagine she'll play like a more nimble version of Batman. The nasty, pasty slaver Lobo has also been confirmed as a DLC character -and we were worried they'd have to scrape the barrel to expand the roster, ahem. Other rumours point towards the Superman series villain Zod and Mortal Kombat's Scorpion turning up at some point.

Game of the Month | April 2013

We're bringing it back.

Even as the Wii U seems to be floundering, gasping for air and energy without the nutritious bounty of new release, the 3DS appears to be soaring. Last month saw Mario's green-capped brother charm charts and critics alike, and the fantastic Fire Emblem: Awakening stormed into shops, boasting high sales and high scores this month.

There were disappointments too, games that we had hoped might set April alight -- Riptide and Defiance, we're looking at you -- but it's been a great month for titles away from the high street shelves. The likes of Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon and BattleBlock Theatre have shown that larger indie titles and double-A developments are forming a delicious middle ground, bolstered by digital distribution, and they certainly deserve honourable mentions.
