The Wolf Among Us is essential at £7.99 on PS4

The Wolf Among Us is amongst Telltale's finest in their long history of interactive drama titles. This £7.99 PSN offer is the way to go as the physical version is about £15.

The story features a cast of fairy tale characters who are struggling to get by in a dark, 80s New York setting. Think a grimy noir version of Once Upon a Time with a murder investigation. Despite those trademark Telltale technical glitches, The Wolf Among Us is an essential purchase and exceeds the studios’ previous efforts in gameplay, visuals and voice acting. The impact of choices you make in interrogations, conversations and crime scene investigations will keep you hooked right until the end.

Beyond: Two Souls is worth a shot at £5

Much like finding a great deal on a TV series boxset, Beyond: Two Souls is certainly worth a look at this price. Mainly because you'll spend more time watching than playing.

Despite the generally passive nature of the experience, I enjoyed the story because the acting from the two leads of Ellen Page  and Willem DaFoe is excellent throughout. Player choices don't have the same major impacts as Heavy Rain, but fans of Quantic Dream's efforts won't find a cheaper price than this today. It's certainly better value than shelling out for the new PS4 version.

It's ridiculously expensive going to the cinema nowadays and there hasn't been a decent horror film in ages. Instead, you'd be much better off spending the money on a copy of Until Dawn, it's one of the best PS4 games of the year.

Life is Strange only £8 on Xbox One

Life is Strange is a contender for best new IP of 2015 and if you act fast (offer expires tomorrow), you can download the entire season for just £8. Apparently, you don't need to be a Gold member to get the discount, but you do need to be signed in to see the £8 price. You can buy via the link below or on your dashboard.

Life is Strange is an episodic adventure game similar to those by Telltale. However, the lead character has the ability to rewind time, giving a fresh new take on the genre. Some of the script is a bit painful thanks to the teen/hipster vibe, but overall the experience is well worth checking out. Be sure to check out my spoiler-free reviews of Episode 1Episode 2Episode 3, Episode 4 and Episode 5.

Give Steins;Gate a shot for £13.99?

It may have a spellchecker-worrying name, but Steins;Gate is one of the best Vita games yet according to Jon's review. This is the best price I've seen for it too. It's the same price on PS3.

You can see the anime on Netflix right now if you want to find out what all the fuss is about, but Jon heavily recommends going in game-first if you're completely new to the Steins; Gate universe. Be sure to take a look his full review. Or read the short version: "The definitive version of a true modern classic. Steins;Gate presents a truly captivating and uncompromising storyline with exquisite characters, powerful themes and often heartbreaking choices to make. It's a beautiful, essential thing. Making poor choices is easy when you have the power to change the past, but here in the present, make the right choice and buy this astonishing piece of software."

Life is Strange Episode 5: Polarized Review - The illusion of choice?

Coming in late? Be sure to check out my spoiler-free reviews of Episode 1Episode 2Episode 3 and Episode 4.

Life is Strange's five part episodic series began life back in January and the last episode was released nearly three months ago. It's safe to say the release schedule has been a mess. Even the originally-planned six-week gap between episodes should have been flagged as a narrative momentum killer.

Such is life when reviewing and playing episodic content these days. If you're smart though, you'll have stayed away until today. Now the final episode is out, you're free to play through the whole story at your own pace. And to get right to it: you really should.

Life is Strange Episode 5: Polarized Review - The illusion of choice?

With so many questions left unanswered, Episode 5 has a lot of work to do. Without going into any spoilers, I can tell you that events of the 'dark room' narrative are satisfactorily tackled. Thankfully, that damn storm that's been lingering unexplained throughout finally gets some attention in the plot. Whether you'll accept the reasoning behind it may prove divisive between players.

Life is Strange finale will be very late

Remember Life is Strange? That very promising episodic adventure game? Well, we finally have a release date for Episode 5, the final part in the first season.

The previous episode released at the end of July, and the gaps between episodes continues to grow as the finale won't be ready until October 20th. That's an absurd 12 week difference. Dontnod originally intended to release episodes every six weeks, but the second half of it has fallen way behind schedule.

Until Dawn Review - A night to remember

Horror games aren't usually meant to be 'fun' or known for being 'a laugh'. Scrambling around in the shadows for ammo in The Evil Within, or managing a tiny inventory in Resident Evil can be harrowing and stressful experiences. And then there's the nerve-shredding trauma of Bloodborne.

But what about horror movies? Beyond the blood and gore, we're waiting for inevitable scare lurking around the corner to make us jump out of our skins and then laugh it off with friends. Until Dawn is the gaming equivalent of that horror movie experience and it's been well worth the wait.

Until Dawn Review - A night to remember

Before horror cinema became obsessed with low-budget, haunted house, night-vision camcorder borefests and the gorno genre fetishised the violence with series like Paranormal Activity or Saw respectively, horror films were generally based around hapless teens fleeing supernatural forces or maniacs with machetes. Until Dawn is all about that teen slasher style and runs the genre's favourite tropes through a Heavy Rain filter with those all-important player choices affecting multiple lead characters who can die permanently. Supermassive's game borrows intelligently from other games and films, as even the scares you might predict still threaten to send you scurrying behind the sofa.

Until Dawn: Extended Edition is a bargain at this price

Until Dawn may be one of the best PS4 games of the year and thanks to today's voucher code, you can get a hefty discount off the Extended Edition. The next best deal for this version is £40.

My review of Until Dawn will be ready soon. I finished my first playthrough this morning and was seriously impressed. The teen horror movie vibe works wonderfully with the game and it's a lot of fun, especially when it makes you jump out of your skin. I'm going to replay it tonight, but with different choices so I can test out the different branching options and see how much of an impact they have. Stay tuned for more.

Until Dawn: Extended Edition £39.85 on PS4

Despite being a brand new product, there's already an Extended Edition of Until Dawn. On the plus side, this retailer's price is even cheaper than the best deal we can find for the standard edition, making this the clear choice for horror movie fans wanting to see how Sony's long-awaited game holds up.

Until Dawn has been coming for years. Originally a PS3 Move title, the game has ditched the motion controller for DualShock 4 support on the PS4. It's looking like a lot of fun too and early reviews have been largely positive. This spin on the slasher horror movie has a bunch of teens trying to escape a masked murderer in what looks like Scream meets Heavy Rain. It's a bit of a quick-time-event fest, but with choices leading to possible perma-deaths of characters, replay value could be high. Want to know more? Then check out Jon's Until Dawn hands-on preview and keep an eye out for our full review whenever my postman gets his act together.

Life is Strange Episode 4 - Darkroom Review

Coming in late? Be sure to check out my spoiler-free reviews of Episode 1, Episode 2 and Episode 3.

Life is Strange is becoming known for killer WTF endings to each episodes, making that damn six week gap between episodes absolutely excruciating. Don't worry I'm keeping up the habit of not giving away any past plot events for those of you waiting for the season to wrap up before diving in, Netflix-style.

The opening section of Episode 4 is a radical departure for the story given the ending of the last entry. Max's whole reality is seen from a new point of view. There are new entries in her SMS log, a new group of friends and her relationship with Chloe has transformed.

Life is Strange Episode 4 - Darkroom Review

Expect to sit back and listen to a lot of dialogue for the first hour in a scene that goes on a bit too long without much meaningful player interaction. Don't worry though, the narrative sucker punches you without warning before you get too impatient.
