Demon Gaze Review | Strong, Smart & Dangerously Sexy

Platform: PS Vita

Developer: Kadokawa Games | Experience Inc.

Publisher: NIS America | Reef Entertainment

The Vita isn't short of fantastic localised JRPGs for British connoisseurs to enjoy. Here's another one, again courtesy of those fine folks at NIS Europe and Reef Entertainment.

Demon Gaze looks quirky and moe enough to whip Japanese gaming fans into a frenzy, but that isn't doing it justice. Taking aim at the hardcore 'gridder' RPG genre popularised by early MegaTen games, Ultima, Dungeon Master and Legend Of Grimrock, this superb effort throws us into tightly-designed first person dungeons with parties of our own creation, challenging us to out-think and outlevel some outrageously tough encounters to survive. Its as rewarding and difficult as you'd expect, versatile enough to provide deep and meaningful choices at every turn.

Demon Gaze Review | Strong, Smart & Dangerously Sexy

Yet while its fellows delight in making things as impenetrable as possible for new players (indeed, I died within minutes in Legends Of Grimrock because it didn't tell me how to attack), Demon Gaze does its best to open up the genre to everyone. Before punishing them.

Oh, and it's also a bizarre pan-sexual odyssey, seeing as your crazy digs make frat houses look tame. Anything goes... and don't say I didn't warn you.

Killer Is Dead Gameplay Footage Shows Insane Combat, Tiger Bike Fights & Worrying Gigolo Missions

Suda 51's Killer Is Dead has revealed more of its secrets thanks to two new gameplay videos captured by Famitsu Magazine [via Gematsu]. The first clip shows off some tight, colourful and furiously-paced combat that looks to be incredibly involving, along with a bike chase against a massive transforming tiger.

The second video, however, sheds some more light on the 'Gigolo Missions' that our protagonist Mondo Zappa will find himself pursuing from time to time. It's... a bit sleazy, to put things as mildly as possible. With luck, these sections will provide a meaningful gameplay experience that makes sense in context. Maybe?

See what you make of Killer Is Dead ahead of its August launch.

Killer Is Dead Trailer Is Pervy, Sleazy, Jazzy

This latest jazzy trailer for Killer Is Dead shows us some of the "lovely ladies" who task hitman Mondo Zappa with all manner of assassinations. They'll get a discount of course, for the bargain price of a smooch... right before Mondo uses 'Gigolo Glasses' to look at their lingerie. Then he goes to the moon, because this is a Goichi Suda game and nothing has to make sense.

Oh, come on Suda. More gameplay, less potentially offensive cheesecake next time please. Killer Is Dead is out in August on PS3 and Xbox 360, and it's set to be bonkers - though we hope that all of this embarrassing titillation actually adds something to the experience beyond tawdry sex appeal.

Lollipop Chainsaw Review | Suda's Sweet, Sexy & Stupid Surprise

Platforms: PS3 | Xbox 360 (reviewed)

Developer: Grasshopper Manufacture

Publisher: Warner Bros. Interactive | Kadokawa Games

Juliet Starling is an ordinary 18-year old. She's one of the most popular girls in school, captain of the Cheerleading team and totally in love with her wholesome beefcake boyfriend Nick. She loves lollipops and shopping. She's well adjusted, comes from a loving nuclear family and gets reasonable grades at San Romero high.

Oh, and did I mention that she's a Zombie Hunter who beheads the undead with a massive chainsaw while wearing her cheerleading miniskirt? All while her boyfriend's animated severed head dangles from her belt?

Lollipop Chainsaw Review | Suda's Sweet, Sexy & Stupid Surprise

This is a Suda51 game, after all. The demented genius auteur behind Killer7 and Shadows Of The Damned is at his reckless, most inventive best here, creating a grindhouse slasher flick overlain by a candy-sweet tweeny visual style. Unbridled sexploitation, streams of vicious profanity, upskirts and gory ultraviolence go hand in hand with rainbows and pixie dust; brought to life by a slick and darkly hilarious script from Slither writer James Gunn. Lollipop Chainsaw is a visually exciting, styish and anarchic romp, and one that makes no apologies for being as dumb as it is brilliant, unpredictable fun.

However, there's no denying that Grasshopper Manufacture have gone out of their way to court as much controversy as possible. Perceived sexism and objectification permeates every aspect of the experience, and has already outraged more than its fair share of pundits and gamers. As such, this review will need to tread some divisive ground... and answer a more basic question. Behind the rainbows, gore and glitter, is Lollipop Chainsaw actually a good game?

Kadokawa Games and Grasshopper Manufacture have just dropped Lollipop Chainsaw in the States today, and we can expect it to hit our shores this Friday. Imagine if Buffy, zombies, a packet of Skittles, some crack, one of Suda 51's genius poos, and a B&Q catalogue were all shoved into a blender..it'd make a mess.

But a gloriously insane action-adventure type of mess. Hopefully.

Japanese Lollipop Chainsaw Promo Showcases Bosses

The more we see of this game, the more we want it. Killer punk rock zombie that can stitch himself back together? Yes please! A morbidly obese Viking, spewing laser beams of death metal from his decapitated noggin? Yep, we'll have that. And what about the funky undead lovechild of Baron Samedi and Bootsy Collins, who literally drops bombs?

Yes, yes, a thousand times yes! Ahem.

Suda 51 Bares All In Lollipop Chainsaw Dev Diary

Behind The Lollipocalypse

When the Killer7's director and Slither's director collaborate on a videogame, you know that things are going to get seriously weird. Goichi "Suda51" Suda and James Gunn have sat down to discuss the thought processes behind Lollipop Chainsaw in a new developer diary, and their quest to make a "funny zombie game" that defies conventions and expectations. They're certainly on course to deliver something truly bizarre, if the insane chainsaw-cheerleading, zombie rock lord-murdering, pole-dancing, goth-antagonising, sister-exploiting project is anything like as awesome as the trailers make out.

Lollipop Chainsaw is set to release on June 15th for PS3 and Xbox 360- hit the jump for the new developer diary.

Lollipop Chainsaw Valentines Day Trailer

"How Am I Still Talking... Without A F*cking Thorax?!!"

Love is in the air during this most romantic of seasons, and can blossom between the unlikeliest of people. For example, between chainsaw-wielding cheerleader Juliet and the decapitated head of her boyfriend Nick. This touching (and thoroughly NSFW, I'd like to add) trailer explores their relationship and how Nick can be used as a deadly weapon in Suda51's upcoming brawler Lollipop Chainsaw.

Oh, and it's properly hilarious.
