XBMC Launches On OUYA

Just a quickie: I know that many of you were excited about the OUYA's potential for becoming an inexpensive media hub, so you should know that the official free XBMC app is now available on the marketplace. Good news for those of us who haven't already side-loaded the APK, and remember that the cubic console actually still exists.

OUYA launched to muted reception back in July, its thunder somewhat stolen by the next console generation. I'll be revisiting it soon, since a number of UI update have taken place since release. More details in our exhaustive OUYA review.

Ouya Partners With XBMC Media Player As Kickstarter Reaches Final Countdown

As we fast aproach the last day of the Ouya Android console Kickstarter campaign, the dev team has announced a partnership with XBMC. The award-winning open source media player and entertainment hub will be available on the platform at launch.

Microsoft Unveil SmartGlass, IE Coming To Xbox

Aside from the usual bit of media company name dropping, Microsoft unveiled their plan for cross-platform media domination...and it's called SmartGlass.

Marc Whitten, the head of Xbox Live, revealed that the service will connect your tablets, phones, and console together. A demo showing how you can send a movie from platform to platform, whilst receiving further information was shown at the Microsoft press conference today.

REPORT: Nintendo Looking For Media Partners For Wii U

Could Nintendo be looking to emulate Microsoft? Well a recent article from AdWeek seems to think so, with the site's sources reporting that the Big N is actively seeking partnerships with large media companies, producers and distributors.
