Monsters Hunter 4 Ultimate on 3DS drops again to £18.99

We've seen it at £18.99 recently before it took a rather upsetting rise back up the monetary scale. We don't care though because it is definitely worth Base's £18.99 asking price twice over.

Free Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate 3DS Theme

Capcom announced last month that they were to give Nintendo 3DS owners a free Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate theme in celebration for surpassing 1 million sales (combined retail and digital) of the game. That time has now come and you can download the theme from your Nintendo 3DS from the eShop.

If you are looking for cheap Nintendo credit to spend on the eShop, CDKeys have a £15 voucher for only £13.29 and a £25 gift card for £21.54 (both on the assumption of the 5% discount code from their Facebook page).

The best game of 2015 so far is now getting even better with today's free DLC. Not only will Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate receive even more gratis downloadable quests, but you'll also be able to unlock and equip two of very familiar outfits.

Namely a full suit of Samus' armour and her Zero Suit getup, plus the iconic arm cannon. Seeing as Samus is already the galaxy's ultimate bounty hunter, it sense that she'd be adept at hunting monsters too. If that's not enough, your Palico companions will also be able to cosplay as Chun Li and Mega Man.

The Game Of The Year 2015 contenders so far - don't let these great games slip under your radar

Game Of The Year? In May?

I know, it seems bizarre, but there's method in my madness. Every year we get to GOTY season, submit our nominations, hand out our awards and then spend weeks painfully facepalming because we've missed out loads of sensational contenders from the first third of the year. Considering that so many games release over Christmas, it's all to easy to get overwhelmed and forget about some of the under-appreciated gems that released in Spring.

Not this year. Not on my watch. Now we're a third of the way through 2015, here are the Game Of The Year challengers so far: the games that we absolutely have to give due credit once voting season comes around. And, it must be said, the games you should probably be playing. We've linked to our reviews and latest deals for your surfing pleasure.

COMMENT | Bloodborne, Cities Skylines & Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate prove we want great games, not "mass appeal"

Break out the bubbly, because three great games have announced massive sale milestones in the last 24 hours. Bloodborne, Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate and Cities Skylines have all sold over one million copies since launch, which is a magnificent achievement.

Congratulations and celebrations are in order, then, since it's well deserved. However, what strikes us is that none of these three games have what executives and pundits typically describe as "mass appeal," yet have sold astonishingly well regardless. Proving that games that would have once been described as "niche" can mix it up with the AAA titans in the charts, and more importantly that us gamers demand uncompromising and quality experiences regardless of platform.

The games we want, not the games publishers think we want.

Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate is officially a Western smash hit - and possibly the best game of 2015 so far

Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate passed an incredibly important sales milestone today. Capcom announced that the exceptional 3DS title has managed to sell more than one million copies in the US and Europe, making it the first game in the franchise to unquestionably be hailed as a Western smash hit.

And quite right too!

Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate deserves every one of those sales, both as a magnificent step up for the series and one of the best games of the year so far regardless of platform. The best game of the year so far in my not-so-humble opinion, even compared to the monstrous Bloodborne.

Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate is officially a Western smash hit - and possibly the best game of 2015 so far

In an age where us press are often accused of trading on doom and gloom, allow me to throw the spotlight on the hours of joy I'm still gleaning from Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate and why, if you haven't taken the plunge, you should think very seriously about getting involved.
