Gothic III | £2.89 | Zavvi | PC

I was about to bring Impulse Driven's £4.49 offer to your attention... until I spotted this little gem. Zavvi are willing to part with Gothic III for £2.89, which is much cheaper as well as providing you with a proper physical edition. As far as gameplay is concerned, Gothic III is properly hardcore: it'll chew you up and spit you out, but leave you enriched by an RPG experience that doesn't pull any punches. Not bad for under £3.

Piranha Games' Mechwarrior Reboot Is Still Happening... [UPDATE]

... Being Revealed Verrrrrry Sloooooowly

Remember the Mechwarrior reboot? Piranha Games has been worryingly quiet of late - but have recently started leaking fragments of a composite image on their twitter feed. These fragments appear to be forming a collage of a Mech, logo and the release date, which currently stands at "201?" I'm trying to identify the mech in question.

Piranha's new project is confirmed to be a reboot/prequel set in the year 3015, with plans to release on the PS3 and Xbox 360. With any luck, it will be a triumphant return for the slumbering franchise as opposed to another Front Mission Evolved fiasco. Check out the composite after the break.

UPDATE: PC Gamer reports that, contrary to earlier intelligence, the reboot will actually be a PC exclusive. That makes more sense.

Risen | PC

Risen never quite achieved critical superstardom, but it's worth noting that Piranha Bites' RPG is surprisingly deep and involving once you take the plunge. Waking up on an island, you'll need to decide what skills to nurture, what people to help and how best to go about the storyline... and also decide whether to forgive the flagrant technical glitches and weak combat. GamersGate currently boast the cheapest price around, which might well convince a few of you to give it a go.
