PlayStation Plus to receive a price increase from September 1st in Europe

It's always a good time to be an online gamer with an Xbox One, the cost of an Xbox Live Gold subscription seemingly drops every week with lowest pricing hitting the £18 mark for a years subscription. Not so much for PlayStation owners however, currently a years subscription for the ability to use Sony's online capabilities and Instant Game Collection will set you back £39.99 on the PlayStation Store with CDKeys periodically dropping to around the £33 mark.

Of course there is also the monthly (£5.49) and three monthly (£11.99) and options for those who prefer not to commit to the PlayStation + subscription model. Unfortunately that is all set to change as of 1st September 2015 as both the monthly and three monthly subscriptions are to be increased in price.

Resident Evil Revelations 2 release date confirmed for PS Vita, life in the old dog yet?

Resident Evil Revelations 2 release date confirmed for PS Vita, life in the old dog yet?

I argue the case every time somebody insists to me that the Playstation Vita is dead, it's not dead, it's simply an underestimated product. Uncharted: Golden Abyss, Minecraft, LittleBigPlanet, the Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster, Rayman Origins, Steins; Gate, Persona 4: Golden, to name just a few of the outstanding titles the PS Vita has to offer, it's not a dead product, we just ask too much of it. Or at least, I think so anyway.

On the back of the recent rumours doing the rounds about the upcoming release of XCOM: Enemy Unknown Plus for Sony's handheld Playstation device, we now have official confirmation of Resident Evil Revelations 2 set for an August 18th release, see, there is still life in the old dog yet.

Shoot and loot for only £14.99 with Borderlands 2 on the PS Vita

At the risk of becoming repetitive on every Borderlands deal I post, I can't help but mention just how brilliant they all are. Borderlands 2 is a masterpiece in my opinion which should be played, if not owned by everybody. Although Borderlands 2 on the Playstation Vita does unfortunately suffer with some major frame rate issues, were looking at £14.99 for one of my personal all time favourites, and it's portable!

Is XCOM: Enemy Unknown Plus coming to the Playstation Vita?

What does the Playstation Vita need for this revival we all seek so badly? I must hear a couple of times a week somebody tell me how the PSV is dead, IT'S NOT DEAD!

Would XCOM: Enemy Unknown Plus be a great starting point for revival? If recent rumours are to be believed then it may well just be happening as a recent spot on the Korean video game ratings board site suggests just that.

The best PlayStation Vita games of 2015 so far - this "legacy platform" ain't dead yet!

People keep telling me that the PlayStation Vita is dead. Hell, even Sony referred to it as a "legacy platform."

I've said it before and I'll say it again: you're wrong!

Now we're halfway through the year, it's the perfect time to look back at an exceptional six months of handheld gaming. Though we've already covered the Top Ten PS4 games of 2015 so far, I had to combine the 3DS and Wii U to bulk out yesterday's list.

The Vita, conversely, can easily carry one all by itself thanks to a range of exquisite localised Japanese titles, cross-play greats and more. Naturally we've linked to our reviews and the best prices on the internet for your convenience.

Steins;Gate

The best PlayStation Vita games of 2015 so far - this "legacy platform" ain't dead yet!

Steins;Gate is a true modern classic, not just as a videogame or visual novel, but as a work of fiction and a story for the ages regardless of medium. You owe it to yourself to pick up Steins;Gate, and when you do, buy it on Vita. The new handheld version is the best of the bunch due to its gorgeously crisp screen and built-in convenience features.

Steins;Gate presents a truly captivating and uncompromising storyline with exquisite characters, powerful themes and often heartbreaking choices to make. It's a beautiful, essential thing. - 10/10 review

Pre-loved Sony PlayStation Vita Console only £79.99

The Playstation Vita is the second most used console in my house, and it is staying with me forever, FOREVER. The poor little blighter gets so much stick and that legitimately makes me sad. Granted it hasn't had the best support from Sony since its release back in February of 2012, but it's kept on going and it has given players worldwide hours and hours of entertainment.

Assassin's Creed III: Liberation, Uncharted: Golden Abyss, Wipeout 2048, Rayman Origins and Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster are all personal favourites of mine and amongst others are the reason I keep going back to my little handheld beauty.

Sony quietly released a Vita highlight reel

Sony's E3 2015 press conference featured about 1.5 seconds worth of coverage for the PS Vita, which they've previously dubbed a "legacy platform," but they've quietly released a sizzle reel of upcoming games for their portable system.

We really do mean "quietly." As far as we can tell, the video only launched on PlayStation's Antipodean YouTube channels with no fanfare whatsoever. Shame, because there's some good stuff on here.

I also freely admit that my Steins;Gate and Operation Abyss reviews are overdue thanks to my recent illness. Spoiler alert: 10 and 8. Stay tuned.

Super Meat Boy is coming to Playstation... and will be free for PS+ members

Team Meat were not allowed to bring Super Meat Boy to the Playstation platform in what they describe as "complicated circumstances". That's now all about to change as Super Meat Boy is now heading to the Playstation 4 and Playstation Vita later this year.

That's good news, right? Now it's time for some great news as Super Meat Boy will be available free to all Playstation Plus subscribers at the time of it's release. Happy days!

PlayStation Vita Christmas Buyer's Guide

The PlayStation Vita is a pocket powerhouse, a device capable of replicating the home console games you know and love while out and about, boasting graphics you'd scarcely believe on a gorgeous OLED screen. Though Sony have failed to match the wealth of games available on 3DS, the Vita does offer some seriously impressive big hitters - while staunch indie support and compatibility with downloaded PSOne and PSP games provide a surprisingly strong back catalogue even for niche connoisseurs.

The Vita also offers a massive range of input methods, from a capacitive touchscreen to a rear-mounted trackpad, cameras and gyroscope... though in practice the second thumbstick is by far its most important feature. In addition, a handful of useful apps make it a surprisingly practical piece of kit, while its voice chat functionality is PS4-ready.

Now that UK retailers have decided to drop the price down to eminently affordable levels, there's rarely been a better time to pick one up. But when it comes to navigating the cheapest Vita prices, its two models, memory cards and essential games, there's a lot to consider. Luckily we've got you covered with a buyer's guide that's got the basics locked down.

Another neat little Vita bundle that makes good use of the GAME voucher code. Definitely one for shooter fans. Mercenary is the best FPS on the platform (though that's not really saying much), but the previous deal might offer a little more versatility if that's what you want.

No, it's not quite as good as the ShopTo marketplace deal that we stumbled across a few weeks back, but this is still a cracker. The Kids Mega Pack includes download codes for LittleBigPlanet Vita, MotorStorm RC and WipEout 2048 amongst seven others, and there's that useful little memory card there too.

Great spot chrisvenn!

ShopTo are up to their sneaky little marketplace dealings once more. By which I mean that they've stormed Play's marketplace with an absolute cracker of a deal.

Is this the best Vita we've ever seen? Probably. There'll be 10 games on that Mega Pack. TEN!

Thanks for the tip BTL!

Playstation Vita (Wi-Fi) | £139.99 | Zavvi Outlet (via Play)

Another odd little retailer-hopping listing, you'll have to go through the Play.com marketplace for this one, but Zavvi's retail outlet is a tried and tested source, even if (as with all Hut Group deals) their delivery reliability can be a bit suspect.

Nice one, Syzable!
