Get Killzone Shadow Fall on PS4 for £1 when you spend £10 on preowned titles at GAME

Much like with last week's deal with Watch Dogs, GAME are selling pre-owned copies of Killzone Shadow Fall for just £1. All you have to do to get it at this price is spend £10 on pre-owned titles at your local store. Unfortunately, the website has run out of stock already, but we've got the link below for you to check out just in case they do manage to find some more stock somewhere. Just do bear in mind that unlike the in-store offer - where you can spend £10 on any pre-owned game - there are only select titles on offer via the website.

As for the game, it ended up being more of a tech demo than a definitive FPS experience, but the multiplayer is still a good romp and for just a pound it's definitely worth adding to your PS4 library. You can read more about it in our Killzone Shadow Fall review. Thanks to adamguest1985 @ HUKD!

One of the best games of last-gen, if not the best, Fallout 3 is an astonishingly fine game. An ambitious and expansive title, its stuffed with hard choices, morally questionable scenarios, super mutants to blast into chunky kibbles, and the joys of romping about the Capital Wasteland with Liam Neeson as your Dad.

You need it in your life, and it's super cheap pre-owned. Cheers Biboboy.

Ready At Dawn: "Retail Outlets Are Taking Everybody For A Ride"

Ready At Dawn boss, Ru Weerasuriya, has slammed the current state of the used games market, saying that although he appreciates the principle of consumers being free to trade in their old games, the current system is far too heavily weighted in favour of certain retailers.

Yes, GameStop, we're talking about you.

Game Buzz | Episode 36 - Digital Futures

This week on Game Buzz, we shower CD Projekt with praise because we can, and also because of the ridiculous GOG Summer Sale; we take a look at the rest of this week's mutterings about the Xbox One, and that rumoured MS worker testimonial; we discuss the implications of a game such as Planetside 2 being exempt from the PS Plus multiplayer requirement; and we wonder if Nintendo have run out of ideas completely, not just for F-Zero.

COMMENT | Microsoft's Capitulation: We're Not Ready For Our Own Digital Future

I posited in my section for the roundtable article dealing with the aftermath of E3 that, if anything, this year's show had proved that we're not ready for our own digital future. Microsoft had put plans in place to drag a hefty corner of this industry a few steps further, kicking and screaming into real change and real transition. Instead of limiting themselves by appealing to lowest common denominators when it came to internet services, they'd opted to let that be someone else's problem, forging a controversial path ahead.

That controversy was understandable and expected. Ownership is a big deal.

We'd been begging for Microsoft (and EA for that matter) to show us something new, something forward-thinking and original, and they did just that. But they did it in the worst way possible.

I wrote an article a few weeks back, around the time that Adam Orth was finding out that in spite of most disclaimers that say "my views are my own" the Twitter jury can still find you guilty of misrepresenting the company for which you work, discussing the importance of clear communication, and of understanding consumer concerns.

COMMENT | Microsoft's Capitulation: We're Not Ready For Our Own Digital Future

Microsoft have paid the price for failing to express their vision for next-gen in a positive fashion. The advantages afforded by a system that has you constantly connected have been lost because Microsoft resorted to corporate doublespeak, long-winded, buzzword-stuffed rhetoric that serves nobody. The existence of Xbox Wire -- a website purposefully created to solve this problem -- was undermined by a wave of original press releases that served only to confuse and discombobulate. Don Mattrick's u-turn post was probably the most clearly written entry on the whole site up to this point.

Game Buzz Extra | Xbox 180 - Microsoft's U-Turn on DRM and Used Games

Following on from Microsoft's announcement yesterday that the Xbox One will now work in a similar fashion to the Xbox 360 when it comes to online requirements and pre-owned games, we pick apart Microsoft's U-turn, we ask what this means with regard to consumers, and weigh up the positives and the negatives of the decision.

Sony's House: "You Buy It, You Own It"

Andrew House got incredibly animated towards the end of Sony's E3 press conference, almost projecting a combative persona as he laid down the Playstation 4's policy on used games.

In a follow-up interview, House reiterate his point -- that he feels Sony have responded to a bubbling feeling of discontent from consumers over their shifting rights in this digital age --saying that for all of the scepticism following the PS4 reveal in Februry, Sony never had any intention of restricting consumer rights regarding physical media.

Peter Moore: "I Like Used Games", Online Pass "A Mistake"

When EA's Peter Moore isn't getting ranty in the comments section of an industry website, he's swooshing about in a shiny grey suit and telling everyone how much he loves used games apparently.

The COO of EA has revealed that the company has no solid plans on any used game policy going forward at the moment, saying that there have been no internal meetings on the subject yet.

CONFIRMED: PS4 Will Not Restrict Used Games, Has No Online Requirement

Well, Sony just killed it.

Sony's Jack Tretton jas just confirmed that the PS4 will feature no used game regulation whatsoever, using the same pre-owned model we currently enjoy. "We believe in the model that people invest in today," he stated, somewhat smugly. "When people buy a PS4 disc, they can trade it in, lend it to a friend or keep it forever."

He also took somewhat obvious joy in confirming that there's no online check-in requirement, and games can be played offline without restriction or penalty.

However, it appears that PlayStation Plus subscription might be required for online play. We're looking into it.

COMMENT | Xbox One: Consumer Rights? Who Gives A Damn!

The mantra "It's all about the games" always rings true. Consoles live and die by their exclusives, by the killer apps that encourage you to buy one over the other, and by the ease with which you can access these formidable selling points.

Microsoft know that. It's why they've funnelled $1 billion into the acquisition of exclusive properties for the Xbox One and the expansion of Microsoft Studios. It's why Don Mattrick took the time in a press conference that had nothing to do with games to emphatically tease no fewer than 15 unique games on Microsoft's next-gen system. It's why Microsoft are confident enough to stick an enormous middle digit up to the consumer audience and dare us not to buy the Xbox One.

COMMENT | Xbox One: Consumer Rights? Who Gives A Damn!

The "clarification", if you can call it that, of Microsoft's policies (which are, of course, subject to change at any given point) regarding the Xbox One and game ownership made for some dark reading. We had hoped against hope that Microsoft would strive to make their systems more open, more friendly, and more transparent. We were foolish and suffering from a severe case of denial. The signs have been there all along.

Can shutting down the pre-owned market result in cheaper games for everyone? Well it could. And Co-founder and Chief Technical Officer of Avalanche Studios, Linus Blomberg, certainly seems to think that this might well be the case.
