Borderlands 2 prequel is set on the moon and out this year, claims report

Hype-rion

Gearbox have strenuously denied that they're working on Borderlands 3 over these last few months, but an interesting new rumour alleges that they've actually outsourced a "pre-sequel" (ugh) to 2K Australia. Apparently we'll soon be scampering around Hyperion's moonbase, conserving oxygen and abusing the low gravity later this year on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.

Maybe. Though outlandish, the report definitely has the ring of truth to it.

Xbox One Pre-Owned Reports: Microsoft & Publishers Get A Cut, Activation Fee Around £35

More Grist For The Rumour Mill

The Xbox One reveal event didn't manage to clear up many of the rumours we've been debating for months (and in fact made many more unclear), but Microsoft's strategy surrounding pre-owned games may be getting slightly less hazy. According to two new reports, Microsoft and game publishers will be guaranteed a cut from pre-owned retailers, but the activation fee for secondary licenses will cost the best part of £40.

Report | Kinect 2 Patent Hints At Visual DRM: "The Users Consuming The Content Are Monitored"

"Remedial Action May Be Taken"

Kinect 2 is a core part of the Xbox One experience; always-connected, always listening out for voice commands and always watching. However, a patent for the device suggests that it can also be used to monitor how many people are looking at a piece of content such as a video or TV show, so the copyright holder can set a maximum viewer restriction... followed by "remedial action" if it's exceeded.

Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon Achivements Leak Online

Likely To Be An XBLA Spin-Off

Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon has been churning around the rumour mill for a few months, and Exophase have managed to get their hands on an achievement list for the mysterious property. Since there's 400G up for grabs (the traditional amount for an XBLA game), this is likely to be a downloadable spinoff rather than a beefy expansion - tying in with some box art dredged up earlier this year.

So we're in the bizarre position of having to issue a spoiler alert for a game that hasn't even been announced yet. Ubisoft are bound to announce something soon, so watch this space.

REPORT | Aliens: Colonial Marines Was Neglected, Delegated, Then Assembled In Nine Months

Gearbox Palmed Development Off To TimeGate

Aliens: Colonial Marines feels like a rush job despite ostensibly being in development for six years, and this might be right on the money. Kotaku claims to have heard from numerous sources who worked on the project, who allege that Gearbox totally ignored the project to focus on Borderlands 2, outsourced the whole thing to TimeGate and then desperately tried to make a working product in less than a year.

Another PS4 Controller Photo Leaks Online, Likely Genuine

Touchpad, Loudspeaker, Headphone Jack & Motion Control

Another photo of what purports to be an early prototype PS4/Orbis controller has hit the net, courtesy of Digital Foundry. As industry sources line up to confirm the images as legit, it looks like we could well be getting our first look at Sony's next-generation offering. Meaning, presumably, that touch controls and PlayStation Eye compatibility could well be built directly into core next-gen PlayStation experience.

Report: Silicon Knights Secretly Worked On Eternal Darkness 2 Alongside X-Men Destiny

Ex-Staffers Allege Dodgy Developmental Skullduggery

Silicon Knights, the developer behind Eternal Darkness and more recently Too Human and X-Men Destiny, now lies in ruins. The studio now only consists of a skeleton crew of five staffers, including CEO Dennis Dyack. More damningly, however, a report from newly redundant personnel alleges that  Silicon Knights secretly siphoned resources away from Activision-backed X-Men Destiny to work on an Eternal Darkness 2 prototype, and never 'took it seriously.'

Departed OnLive CEO Delivers Parting Message...

Report Alleges That His Gaikai Obsession Crippled The Company

OnLive co-founder and recently-departed CEO Steve Perlman has issued a parting message of hope to the community, urging players to "please give the OnLive team a chance to regroup."
