Rise of the Tomb Raider £27.85 on Xbox One

You can now get a new copy of Rise of the Tomb Raider for just £27.99. If you're Xmas shopping, this might be one of the better prices you'll get before the delivery cutoff.

Lara's latest adventure is another fantastic entry in the series. The world is bigger than the last game too and there are many more optional tombs to explore. The story is pretty poor, but there's no faulting the action as you're generally free to approach combat with all guns blazing, or opt for a stealthier approach.

Forza 6, Halo 5, Rise of the Tomb Raider - Choose 2 titles for £50

Well this is a fantastic way to kick off what will be week filled with ridiculous deals. As the title explains, all you need to do is choose two of the three games mentioned above, and you'll be charged just £50. While Halo 5 has been around that price point recently, the fact you can get the latest Forza or Tomb Raider for that price as well is a fantastic deal. Act fast though, as this is (the first of many) a flash deal that will appear over the next seven days. Thanks to Danjw91 @ HUKD!

Here's the best Rise of the Tomb Raider launch deal

Now that the solid reviews have started landing, it's probably safe to lay some cash down for a shiny new copy of Rise of the tomb Raider on  Xbox One. That launch trailer makes it even harder to resist. This is the cheapest deal on the market today although we imagine we'll be able to shave a few quid off in the coming weeks.

Rise of the Tomb Raider launch trailer + combat trailer

Here's a duo of new trailers for Rise of the Tomb Raider. The launch trailer doesn't have much new material as far as locations go, but there are some fresh character scenes with Lara's friend, Hannah, and the no-good leader of Trinity. If you're after some new footage, you'll be better off checking out the second part of the Woman Vs Wild series, where we see Lara engaging enemies with different combat styles. Oddly enough, there  seems to be a lot of Stealth kill XP awarded for using explosives. Hmmm. Not that we can't wait for the release in just 10 days time!

We've included the latest preorder deal too, although we've seen it cheaper in recent weeks.

Rise of the Tomb Raider - Harsh Environments trailer

A new series of Rise of the Tomb Raider videos entitled Woman Vs Wild are set to give us new looks at the game in the build up to launch next month. Today's episode looks at 'harsh environments'.

This shows us the wildlife Lara will face. And by face, I mean nail to the endangered species list with an arrow or possibly shotgun. There's a brief mention of the story too and a look at the new expanded hub environments. Enjoy the trailer after the break and I've dug out the cheapest current preorder offer too.

Rise of the Tomb Raider - Descent into Legend trailer

It's not hard to see why Microsoft were so keen to grab Rise of the Tomb Raider as an exclusive as it's looking pretty damn good right now. The latest trailer is an action-packed tour of the various locations in the new title as we see gaming's most beloved burglar embark on another epic quest to steal some fancy relics before the guys with guns do.

We're presuming the relics are linked to an ancient power that shouldn't fall into the wrong hands. Otherwise, it would mean that Lara's just a murdery mental-case. We've always had an odd feeling about her yanno.

Microsoft Gamescom 2015 Presentation Roundtable Impressions - This fight is far from over

Microsoft have just left the stage at Cologne for their Gamescom 2015 presentation and we've put our heads together to bring you our roundtable impressions of what we've just seen. There were new game announcements and lots of encouraging footage of upcoming titles. Unlike E3 though, there was plenty to see coming in 2016 too. Is Sony going to regret not attending the largest gaming expo on the gaming calendar after this showing? We'll have to wait until Paris Games Week to find out really. For now, let's see what the green team have up their sleeves.

Did Microsoft choose the wrong stage demo for Rise of the Tomb Raider at E3?

Well, that's more like it Microsoft and Square-Enix! The new extended gameplay demo of Rise of the Tomb Raider is a considerable improvement over the arguably dull E3 2015 appearance. So much so, it's hard to imagine why Microsoft went for the video they did for their on-stage gameplay reveal over the new one released over the weekend.

The timed Xbox exclusive is one of the year's biggest releases and the gameplay reveal at E3 was one of our most anticipated parts of Microsoft's show. But then it happened and they turned E3 into QTE3. It wasn't a bad demo by any means, but there was a heavy focus on quick-time-events and climbing rather than showing us extended on-foot scenes. Tomb Raider scenes.

Did Microsoft choose the wrong stage demo for Rise of the Tomb Raider at E3?

This latest trailer will restore any faith that may have dwindled as you watched Lara bounce off the side of a mountain in the mother of all blizzards. Seriously Lara, check the weather ahead next time, yeah? The new demo takes place straight after the E3 one, where we find Lara picking herself up after somehow not dying after tumbling down the mountain and using her face to smash through walls of ice.

Microsoft E3 2015 Media Briefing impressions - "they've finally convinced me to buy an Xbox One"

The Microsoft E3 press conference had a lot to prove. Following Bethesda but kicking off the main day of press conferences, they were stuck between a rock and hard place, yet also had a some massive open goals to score. As expected, they went in hard with 90 minutes of games, footage, killer features and reveals.

In short, they smashed it.

The three of us have picked over the event to present you with three different opinions about where Microsoft succeeded and failed in regards to the Xbox One, Windows 10 and the all-important games.

Wow. Without a shadow of a doubt, that was the most impressive press conference that Microsoft has thrown in years. It packed a huge amount of games, reveals and massive features into a breathtaking ninety minutes.

Rise of the Tomb Raider E3 preview trailer makes its way online

The Rise of the Tomb Raider E3 preview trailer has made an appearance on the internet a little earlier than intended. With an estimated release date of December 2015 Rise of the Tomb Raider will launch on both Xbox One and Xbox 360 as a timed exclusive for the Microsoft consoles.

The preview runs for 1:36 and doesn't include any gameplay action, but a mini movie of Lara Croft with Camilla Luddington reprising her role as the tomb raider is enough to keep us going until E3 in the hope of something more.

In addition to the preview trailer the box art for Rise of the Tomb Raider has also been revealed recently by Crystal Dynamics and Xbox.

Uncharted 4 delay paints a tough Christmas for PS4 this year

So, Uncharted 4 has been pushed back to Spring 2016. As news goes for PS4 gamers, it's pretty damn heartbreaking. But as we've said time and again here at Dealspwn, delays aren't always a bad thing for a game. We've had enough of unfinished releases like AC: Unity and DriveClub, and are trying to be as patient as possible for the likes of Batman: Arkham Knight and The Witcher III, both of which have needed more time before the developers have been ready to unleash them. And major kudos to them for that and as much as it pains me to say it, Kudos to Naughty Dog too.

But with Uncharted 4 gone from the PS4's Holiday Season/Christmas line-up, it's hard not to think that staff at Microsoft and Square Enix are laughing their assess off. First up, let's talk about Tomb Raider. Lara's next outing,  Rise of the Tomb Raider, is a timed Xbox One exclusive and was set to go head to head with Uncharted around Christmas (naturally, you'd buy both if you have both consoles), now Square's title will have no direct competition.

Uncharted 4 delay paints a tough Christmas for PS4 this year

Microsoft will no doubt be celebrating Uncharted's delay, but maybe Square are kicking themselves that their exclusivity deal means they won't be sweeping up sales from PS4 gamers with no Uncharted to play this year.

COMMENT | The hysterical backlash against Tomb Raider exclusivity is risible, but so is Microsoft's communication... AGAIN!

You could see the smile dance across Phil Harrison's face as he uttered the word "exclusive" during the Microsoft Gamescom press conference. Exclusives have traditionally been the weapons used by platform holders to wage war against one another. As Nintendo did unto SEGA, so Sony did unto them, and so Microsoft blah blah this has been going on forever blah.

But lately the waters have become muddied. Time was when companies would slap down cash for studios and IPs, it was all or nothing. Platform holders went big or they went home. But the dawn of digital distribution and product updates allowed companies to deliver bits and pieces of games, and suddenly the rights for those were up for sale. These are the DLC times, and frankly it's difficult to know whether or not you're getting the "complete experience" with certain titles these days.

Then, of course, there are timed exclusives, games with timed exclusive DLC, console exclusives, and a whole host of other ways to otherwise baffle and confuse consumers.

Let's look at the facts: Microsoft did not buy a studio and invest in their talent. They did not secure the rights to an exciting new IP or charge a talented outfit to deliver something fresh. They dropped a fat bundle of cash in Square Enix's pocket for a limited period of exclusivity for a sequel to a game that eventually broke even, but needed a generation-jump retooling to do that.

That's pretty much all we know at this point.

Microsoft admits that Rise of the Tomb Raider exclusivity "has a duration"

Well, we thought this might be the case, what with the very specific wording of the announcement and the lack of clarification from any of Microsoft's senior management. But after a day of mulling it over, no doubt, Phil Spencer has finally come out and admitted that Rise of the Tomb Raider's exclusivity on Xbox One "has a duration".
