Rise Of The Triad is FREE on GOG (30,000 copies available!)

Rise Of The Triad is FREE on GOG.

Right now. Go.

However, there are a couple of caveats. There are only 30,000 keys available and there's a good chance they'll all be gone soon... seeing as the site is struggling to stay online under the weight of demand. Still, try your luck.

I only got round to trying Rise Of The Triad recently and wish I hadn't waited so long. It's one of the purest 'old-school' shooters in years; bringing the action back in its twitchy slippery glory rather than trying to change it for a new audience. I much preferreed it to Wolfenstein: The New Order if I'm honest.

legacy pack 2
  • What: Apogee Legacy Pack
  • Where: Apogee Software Store
  • Current Price: ~£9.30 ($14.99)
  • Voucher Code: Father
  • RRP: £12.50

Many of you probably haven't heard of Apogee Software... but I daresay that the very mention of the name makes many of you hark back to classic sprite-based adventures and all-out carnage. To celebrate the launch of their new online store, they've thrown together a Legacy Pack containing Duke Nukem 3D: Atomic Edition, Duke Nukem: Manhattan Project, Rise of the Triad: Dark War, Blake Stone: Aliens of Gold, and Blake Stone: Planet Strike. DN3D and Rise Of The Triad are probably worth the price of admission by themselves, to be honest. The Father voucher code will knock an extra $5 off of the RRP until 20th June. Retronauts (those of you who don't already own these games), start your downloading!

Note that they'll try to fleece you for extended download cover. Be ready to download and backup these games as soon as you make the transaction to avoid shelling out an extra $5.99.
