Dark Souls 3 tipped for "early 2016"

If this is a leaked promotional image for Dark Souls 3, which IGN seems to think it is, it basically tells you everything you need to know.

This ties in with rumours last week, which suggested that a third Dark Souls game was in development with series creator Hidetaka Miyazaki back at the helm. If true, this suggests that the third game in the series might undo some of the more newcomer-friendly formula tweaks made in Dark Souls 2: Scholar Of The First Sin.

We assume that Bandai Namco will announce it at E3, but when? It will either break cover via press release or piggyback on Sony or Microsoft's press conference. Check out the full E3 2015 timetable here!

Megaton Xbox One rumours hint at new cheaper model before year's end

Some truly massive rumours surrounding the Xbox One have hit the internet over the last 24 hours, ostensibly outing Microsoft's plan to release a cheaper Xbox One model before the end of 2014 - with the intention of giving the PS4 a run for its money in a less-than-figurative sense.

Throwing fuel on the fire, Microsoft are reportedly trying to bring their legal eagles to bear on the source, while several major outlets are lining up with corroboration of their own. It could be absolute tosh, of course, but there's an interesting discussion to be had here regarding the console's hefty RRP.

Xbox One Pre-Owned Reports: Microsoft & Publishers Get A Cut, Activation Fee Around £35

More Grist For The Rumour Mill

The Xbox One reveal event didn't manage to clear up many of the rumours we've been debating for months (and in fact made many more unclear), but Microsoft's strategy surrounding pre-owned games may be getting slightly less hazy. According to two new reports, Microsoft and game publishers will be guaranteed a cut from pre-owned retailers, but the activation fee for secondary licenses will cost the best part of £40.

RUMOUR: Inside Source Reveals Next Xbox Specs?

Mandatory Kinect & Game Installs For Every Console, Allegedly

Time to put on your speculation hats on folks, because new word has emerged on the next Xbox. Kotaku has posted information online from a “reliable source” that allegedly gives us the lowdown on what to expect from the next console from Microsoft, currently codenamed Durango. Normally we would heap a heavy amount of scepticism on this one, but considering the informant has been revealed to be “SuperDaE”, the same  person who tried to sell a Durango development unit on eBay last year, it's possible that this time there could be some weight  to it.

id Software: 'When We Officially Show Doom 4, You'll See Awesome'

Some weird shenanigans have been going on over the last 48 hours, with some sites claiming that Doom 4 has been cancelled and massively leaked via a veritable torrent of screenshots. However, id Software's Matthew Hooper has spoken out to debunk these rumours - as well as to tell us that we can expect "awesome" things from the finished article.

"Those images have nothing to do with what you're gonna see in Doom4. When we officially show things you'll see awesome."

Good news then, but the wording is interesting. While the rumours are debunked, it's likely that the leaked artwork represents conceptual material that bears little resemblance to the game in progress. We'll let you know when id are good and ready to show off Doom 4. [Twitter]
