Hopefully Space Hulk: Deathwing will vaguely resemble its gorgeous "in-game" trailer

The latest trailer for Warhammer 40K-themed FPS Space Hulk: Deathwing is turning heads and raising eyebrows. Both on account of it being astonishingly pretty, but also because it claims to be entirely comprised of "in-game" footage.

To put this in perspective: each Storm Bolter shell casing is individually embossed.

We're cautiously optimistic about Space Hulk: Deathwing

I must admit that our hearts sank when we heard that Space Hulk: Deathwing was in production. Though Warhammer 40K has spawned its fair share of great games (Relic Entertainment are still annoyingly coy about the next Dawn Of War, damn them), the announcement that Focus Home Interactive were publishing a first-person shooter wasn't what we wanted to hear.

You know, because Focus Home's track record is... inconsistent... outside of Blood Bowl and Sherlock Holmes. And Full Control's Space Hulk reboot was a load of old cobblers.

However, a clutch of new screenshots and the specific developer involved have piqued our interest considerably - perhaps enough to get cautiously optimistic about what could be a fiercely unique tie-in.

Contrast Looks Much Better Than DriveClub, Frankly

New Screenshots Prove It Handily

When fate closes a door, it opens a window. Specifically in that the PS4's PlayStation Plus freebie lineup has lost its token racing game, to be replaced by a innovative puzzle-platformer from Focus Home Interactive. This, we feel, is a change for the better.

But you don't have to take my word for it. Behold, some new screenshots, which I've compared to DriveClub directly along with some useful commentary.

New Grand Theft Auto Online Screenshots Foreshadow The Fun

Grand Theft Auto Online releases next Monday - and though Rockstar have warned us to expect a rocky launch, we couldn't be more excited about this 16-player crime playground.

Wait, sorry, we've just seen some brand new screenshots showing fighter jet dogfights, ATV races and drive-by heists. Now we're even more excited.

New Deep Down Screenshots Delve Deeper Underground

We've now got a better handle on what Deep Down actually is, a procedurally-generated cooperative dungeon crawler set in the ruins of 2094 New York City that presents new environments and monsters every time. Capcom have released a quintet of new screenshots showing some of these bleak labyrinths and deadly monsters in their unnatural habitat.

Deep Down has only been slated for PS4 at present (though Capcom's annual financial report suggests that it's heading to "next generation consoles," so an Xbox One version may not be out of the question). Western release details have yet to break cover.

Wasteland 2 Screenshots Escape Gamescom

I know, I know, we're posting a lot of screenshots at the moment. I'm afraid that we'll probably continue to do so for the remainder of Gamescom 2013, but when you get a moment, we've secured a new clutch of Wasteland 2 in-progress images for your perusal. It's looking more detailed and exciting every time we see it.

Matt caught up with Brian Fargo at Gamescom to discuss inXile's Kickstarted sequel, which he describes as a "labour of love." Look out for the video interview soon, ahead of a (projected) late 2013 release.

Gorgeous Killer Is Dead Screenshots Hype Next Week's Release

Killer Is Dead releases next Friday in Europe, so rather than vainly trying to describe it, I'll let these screenshots do the talking. Goichi Suda's latest brawler is sensationally stylish, and frankly makes most other games look like wallpaper paste.

We'll have an exhaustive review for you on Tuesday (the American release date), but before you start to worry, review copies were dispatched the best part of a month ago. Deep Silver have nothing to hide, rather they want to make sure that coverage doesn't get swallowed up by Gamescom 2013.

Destiny Gamescom Screenshots Go In Heavy

The Gamescom screenshot deluge continues unabated, but if you only have time to see a few, bump these new Destiny shots up to the top of your list. Bungie's cross-generational shooter is looking utterly sensational, and we hope its gameplay can match the art direction.

Destiny is out next year on PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One. A PC version hasn't been announced.

Dark Souls 2 Closed Beta Hits PS3 In October

For Now, Have All The Screenshots

Dark Souls 2 won't release until Spring 2014, but a few select PS3 owners will be able to get involved ahead of time. Namco Bandai have announced a platform-specific closed beta that starts on October 5th, though vexingly haven't revealed how testers can register. They've promised to do so via social networks, so we'll keep an eye out.

In the meantime, here's an enormous heap of screenshots direct from Cologne.

X Rebirth Flaunts New Trailer & Many Screenshots

X Rebirth has been in development for the best part of seven years, and frankly it shows.  Matt and Carl will bring you some Gamescom impressions soon, but for now, enjoy this glorious feast for the eyes.

It's out on November 15th, and I won't have to convince my Sidewinder Precision Pro to work on Windows 8. Apparently intuitive streamlining without a lack of depth will make X Rebirth eminently playable on gamepads.

LEGO Marvel Super Heroes Gamescom Trailer Builds Excitement

Builds. Geddit? HA.

But seriously, LEGO Marvel Super Heroes has received a brand new trailer from Gamescom, which serves to construct (no)... stack up (worse)... explain (there we go) the storyline, which hinges around Dr. Doom's pursuit of mysterious all-powerful bricks. To construct "Dr. Doom's Doom Ray Of Doom."

Basically, we couldn't be more excited about this. LEGO Marvel Super Heroes is out this Autumn on practically every platform imaginable.

Behold The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt In New Gamescom Screens

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is set to offer us a morally ambiguous open world to explore, and any number of tough decisions to make along the way.

However, on a more shallow and superficial level, it also looks utterly gorgeous - as you can plainly see in these new screenshots direct from Cologne. Matt got some contact time with the next-gen RPG today, and apparently it may already be his game of the show. It's out next year on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

Peggle 2 is headed to Xbox One later this year (and eventually everything with a screen, we suspect), and we've finally got a look at the anticipated PopCap title. Spoiler alert: it's like Peggle, only exactly the same. And thus exactly what we want.

We'll update with a trailer as soon as possible, but for now, here are the latest screenshots.

Dead Rising 3: Outrageous 'Combo Vehicles' Revealed In Explosive Screenshots

Dead Rising 3 plans to take weapon modificaton to its most welcome and illogical conclusion: ridiculous jury-rigged vehicles to splatter the zombie hordes as you drive around the enormous open city. Examples include the RollerHawg: a hybrid between a motorcycle and Steamroller with flamethrower attachments.

Oh baby. We've got the screenshots below. Dead Rising 3 releases in November as an Xbox One exclusive launch title.

See The Sights Of Los Santos With Brand New Grand Theft Auto V Screenshots

Helicopters, Sunbathing, & Topless Quad-biking

The folks at Rockstar Games are looking to keep the momentum from their recent gameplay trailer with the release of a set of new screenshots this afternoon for Grand Theft Auto V. As you can expect, the brand new stills provide more of a look at Los Santos and the trio of main characters for the upcoming open-world crimebox, of which the highlights include water-based shenanigans, liberal use of lens flare, and Trevor being Trevor. See the rest of the pictures after the jump.
