Have A Listen To A Snippet From Destiny's Soundtrack

The lack of a Marty O'Donnell soundtrack was one of my biggest laments when it came to halo 4, but the Bungie composer and his long-standing partner in musical awesomeness, Michael Salvatori, are busy beavering away on the soundtrack to Destiny.

Download Mass Effect 3: Citadel's Soundtrack For Free

Don't worry, it's legit. BioWare have freely released the soundtrack to Mass Effect 3's latest DLC pack, and you can pick it up on the BioWare Social Network. Note that you'll need to log into your Origin account (or existing BSN account) to do so.

If you're interested, I was utterly flabbergasted by how brilliant in our 9/10 Mass Effect 3: Citadel DLC review. It's like a holiday special that gets the whole cast back together, and gives you great new memories of Mass Effect 3 without compromising the ending in any way.

Remember that video of Bastion's audio director Darren Korb and vocalist Ashley Barrett performing a simple acoustic rendition of 'Build That Wall'? Well, Bioshock Infinite's Troy Baker and Courtnee Draper – who perform VO for the characters of Booker DeWitt and Elizabeth respectively – have released a video of two of them in the studio, recording an acoustic duet of the song “Will The Circle Be Unbroken” from Bioshock Infinite's OST.

Bioshock Infinite release on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 on March 26th. [Irrational]

Loved Journey? You'll Love Wintory's Annotated Score

Journey exists for me now as a collection of glorious, almost ethereal memories, as if my three playthroughs of thatgamecompany's emotional, evocative experience were part of some waking dream.

Of course, much of that has to do with Austin Wintory's majestic, Grammy-winning orchestral score, which he's uploaded to YouTube with a bunch of screens, artwork, and insightful annotations giving interested parties a rather  compelling look into the making of the soundtrack.

Latest Episode of The Final Hours of Tomb Raider Looks At Sound

Bafta winning composer Jason Graves, the man who made us all soil ourselves with the creepily discordant tones and wails of Dead Space and its sequel, is placed front and centre for the latest in-depth development diary for Crystal Dynamics' Tomb Raider.

Titled The Sound of Survival, it takes a look at the scoring process for the game, how CD came to choose Graves for the job, and the motifs and themes that governed his composition.

Also, Zach Levi appears to have gone blonde. Which is weird. Really weird.

Dustforce | £5.24 | Desura | PC / Mac

Not the cheapest we've ever seen Dustforce, but still nearly a £2 saving on this indie gem. Releasing at the very beginning of 2012, Dustforce delivered one of the smoothest gameplay experiences and best soundtracks of the entire year.

Complete Forza Horizon Soundtrack Unveiled

With Playground and Turn 10 gunning for the festival vibe with Forza Horizon this November, getting the soundtrack right is absolutely key. Thankfully, they roped in Rob da Bank to sort out the music side of things, and they've now announced the full setlist, which will be spread across three different radio stations: Bass Arena, Pulse, and Rocks.

And yes, of course Nero is in there. Though we reckon they should have put Jon's version in there instead (skip to 01:24).

The radio will also serve to provide hot tips on special events, rumoured hidden vehicles, and barn locations for snapping up some unique wheels. Don't expect any humourous Rockstar-esque ads, though.

Dustforce | £3.49 | Steam | PC / Mac

The second of Steam’s Midweek Madness deals is Dustforce, yet another Indie darling that delighted the Dealspwn team earlier this year. The 50% reduction provides a saving of around £3.50, but as with the Bastion deal we posted earlier a Soundtrack Bundle is also available for one pound extra.

Slick, exceptional platforming and top-notch presentation in the art style, along with a glorious chiptune soundtrack, makes Dustforce a budget buy to recommend. That said, we here at Dealspwn recommend playing this one with a gamepad to avoid frustration. Thanks to silkhuk @ HUKD!

Bastion | £4.59 | Steam | PC / Mac

Steam have unleashed a double whammy of Midweek Madness deals today, and the first is for last year's indie triumph Bastion. Over £4 separates this deal from the next best offer from Green Man Gaming, but if you fancy getting the Soundtrack Bundle (and you should, because the OST is awesome) you can do so for an additional £2, which still works out cheaper than GMG’s current price.

Jon goes into far more detail in his review than I ever could here, but here’s the short version; it’s a beautiful game that deserves your attention, and the dynamic narrator is so awesome you’ll wish you had someone similar being a voiceover to your own life. Whether you get the Soundtrack Edition or just the game on its own, Bastion is definitely one title you need to try. Thanks to Pankratz @ HUKD!

Journey Soundtrack Becomes Massive Global Success

Gorgeous PSN-exclusive Journey has a killer soundtrack courtesy of Austin Wintory, and thatgamecompany proudly reports that it has become a global iTunes phenomenon. The 18-track OST reached (and frequently topped) the overall top ten iTunes charts in over a dozen countries including Japan, Canada and Spain - and has dominated the soundtrack-specific charts in twenty nations. You can buy it here.

Journey's success is well-deserved, and with videogame scores becoming ever more accepted into the wider musical community, it's great to see another, smaller game's OST doing so well. In case you don't already know, Journey is one of this year's standout games, having garnered a 10/10 in our full review.

A Bastion Jam: Supergiant's Voices Perform 'Build That Wall'

I was going to save this for tomorrow's Daily Bite, but I couldn't. More people need to see and hear it immediately! Anyway, Supergiant Games dropped a little treat onto their official blog earlier in celebration of Bastion's latest sales milestone, a treat that features audio director Darren Korb and vocalist Ashley Barrett performing a simple acoustic rendition of 'Build That Wall'. There's even a couple of medley surprises towards the end.

WildStar Composer Talks Music

The folk over at Carbine Studios have started to drip out snippets of information thanks to the new 'WildStar Wednesday' feature, having previously talked about the monster Metal Maw that was designed with help from the fans, and a brief bit of lore about the MMO’s setting on the planet Nexus. Late last night the blog on the official website updated for this week’s offering, this time giving centre stage to Lead Composer Jeff Kurtenacker to discuss the influences for the music of WildStar.

Last week we reported on how buyers of the 3DS remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (for which you can find Matt’s review here) could get their hands on a free copy of the soundtrack by registering their new purchase over at the Club Nintendo website. Things did not go as planned however, and a “technical issue” meant that many users were unable to qualify for their free copy. You only have to look at our comments section to see a fraction of the disappointed fans that had trouble registering on the site.

However, the panic is now over as Nintendo have finally responded to the situation, and it is good news for everybody.
