State Of Decay had a penis problem

You couldn't make it up.

State Of Decay was a massive cult smash when it released on Xbox 360 and later on PC, but Undead Labs have admitted that it suffered from a unique problem. Apparently rogue contractors had left a huge amount of phallic imagery buried within backgrounds and scenery, which were only spotted during development of the new Xbox One version.

State Of Decay Title Update 3 Out Today, Lets You Team Up With NPCs

Rough XBLA diamond State Of Decay is scheduled to receive another title update today, which fixes some more annoying issues and adds some welcome extra features. Chief amongst them is the ability to bring a community member along on missions to "watch your back," which should make things easier - if even more tense. Note that the bug that accidentally let players exceed the population cap and break their save file has been removed, but not retroactively fixed if you've been affected.

We've got the patch notes below, fresh from Undead Labs themselves. In case you don't know, State Of Decay refreshes the tired old zombie apocalypse trope with a massive open world and consequences to every decision. More details in our 8/10 State Of Decay review.

State Of Decay Sandbox DLC Will Put Players Through The Wringer

Undead Labs have explained how State Of Decay's upcoming Sandbox DLC pack will work. Players have to keep their survivors alive, fed and healthy... but somehow make an impossible choice of who to take with them to another town in a single RV.

State Of Decay Coming To PC Before Year's End

State Of Decay is one of this year's Xbox Live Arcade highlights, but plenty of players have been holding onto the promise of a PC version. After months of silence on the subject, Undead Labs has now confirmed that the port is coming later this year, complete with enhanced visuals.

Though State Of Decay is a phenomenal singleplayer experience, its open world and multiple characters have caused many players to wonder whether cooperative multiplayer will be patched in after the fact. Don't hold your breath.

Game of the Month | June 2013

It's been a month where the phrase 'quality over quantity' has proven particularly pertinent, especially on consoles. PC titles such as the fantastic Gunpoint and the impressive (if not exactly revolutionary) Company of Heroes 2 put their noses to the window of this month's list of the best, but could only muster honourable mentions.

Indeed, June has been mostly characterised by zombies and XBLA, by the PS3 and Naughty Dog, and by catching fish for that lazy anteater you have living next to you on the 3DS.

Runners-Up

Game of the Month | June 2013

State of Decay - The patch is out, but in all honesty State of Decay would have made the list even in its rather buggy and broken state. We're not excusing releasing barely complete glorified betas, but this was something different, something a bit special: a game that allowed us to live out our own version of The Walking Dead, our own stories of community survival in an ever-changing open world with dynamically-generated missions and horrors. You were confronted with choices, forced to make hard decisions instead of simply watching them, and then made to actively deal with the consequences. Fantastic. - 8/10

State Of Decay Patch Fixes A Hot Mess Of Issues

State Of Decay is one of the best zombie games to have released in years and deserves to be one of this year's most successful sleeper hits... despite me describing it as "rough enough to file your nails on" in our 8/10 review. Undead Labs have now released a new patch that fixes a huge number of the more egregious problems, while also adding V-sync (hurray!) and tweaking balance.

We've got the full patch notes below.

State of Decay Smashes The 500K Sales Barrier

Fastest-Selling Original Xbox LIVE Game

Ambitious open-world zombie-stomper -- State of Decay -- has passed half a million paid downloads since the game's release on Xbox LIVE on June 5th, a figure that Microsoft say makes it the "fastest selling original game ever on Xbox Live Arcade".

State Of Decay Review | Zombie Land

Platform: XBLA (PC version TBA)

Developer: Undead Labs

Publisher: Microsoft Studios

Zombies, zeds, infected, walkers, revenants, rots, call them what you will - but our love affair with the undead continues unabated despite the torrent of terrible knock-off games in which they star. Download services teem with lazy, rehashed and unambitious affairs that genuinely believe that zombies can sell an awful game by simply turning up. Frankly, we're getting a little fed up of the whole thing.

State Of Decay is something else entirely, something better. Though the familiar setup of whacking zombies with scavenged weapons remains reassuringly intact, this recklessly ambitious title throws you into an enormous open world teeming with possibilities and tough decisions, tasking you with leading an entire community through hell and out the other side intact.

For 1600 Microsoft Points, Undead Labs have delivered what could (and probably should) be one of this year's biggest sleeper hits.

State Of Decay Dated For XBLA

Zombie survival game State Of Decay is out on June 5th for Xbox Live Arcade, Undead Labs announced today. This ambitious open-world survival experience has barely tickled our radar over the last few months, yet promises an "open sandbox world that develops in real-time, dynamically generating content based on your actions, the choices you make, and the ever-increasing zombie threat."

For 1600 MSP. It's a bold claim, and one that could see State Of Decay becoming a massive sleeper hit if accurate. I'll look into a review.
