Super Mario 3D Land | £25 | Tesco | 3DS

No, it's not the cheapest price this game has ever been. But it's currently the cheapest option if you're thinking of snapping it up for Christmas. With most retailers sitting pretty around £30, it would appear Tesco are doing the same...until you add the game to your basket that is. Then it drops to £25 quid.

As a number of eagle-eyed HUKD-ers have noted superbly, this'll work for Mario Kart 7, Mario Tennis Open, and a handful of other 3DS titles too. Again, thanks to loll1es @ HUKD for the initial spot.

Missed it at this price when The Hut had it? Fret not dear friends, for Tesco has you covered this time around. Is it particularly groundbreaking? No. But with some cracking level design, plenty to collect and explore, and Nintendo's trademark whimsy and charm, it's one of the few must-buy games for your 3DS. Nice spot reaper200.

Super Mario 3D Land | £21.95 | The Hut | 3DS

A further two quid less than it was just a couple of weeks ago, The Hut still have the cheapest price, though the competition is only a pound or two away. Mario's first adventure in stereoscopic 3D doesn't really break any new ground this time around, but it's an enjoyable romp, particularly if you loved SMB3. Nice spot Mienaikage.

Still a £4 saving, just a quid cheaper than it was last month, it's all about The Hut if you want to snap up Super Mario 3D Land on the cheap. It's not quite reached the magical sub-£20 threshold just yet, and it probably won't for a little while yet...but as the 3DS starts pumping out the quality, expect it to sink further.

Hayashida: New Hardware "Gives People A Sense Of Freshness"

Super Mario 3D Land director Koichi Hayashida has suggested that hardware changes, and the unique capabilities for which new tech allows, are what help to drive forward existing IPs such as Mario. Hayashida suggested that generational steps allowed developers to explore new combinations of familiar mechanics with "something special" made possible by new hardware.

Nintendo Considering Paid DLC For Super Mario 3D Land?

Will Ninty Finally Embrace The DLC Model?

Nintendo is still unbelievably late to the digital download party as far as post-launch content and updates are concerned... and it appears that they might be about to embrace the industry status quo. Speaking in a recent investors Q&A session, President Satoru Iwata suggests that profits could be massively boosted by supplying "Super Mario users" with new levels via the eShop - which would also ensure that their games stay relevant for longer. Full details below.

Christmas Buyer's Guide | Games For Kids

Too often games geared towards a more youthful audience are rife with mediocrity and repetition. So we've tried to pick out a few games from the past twelve months that offer a little more in terms of quality. There's a range of titles to be had here and it should be noted that we've tried not to choose five titles that are only suitable for kids. Rather a couple of these games are quite simply experiences to be enjoyed by all ages, and all the better for it.

UK Games Charts | 21 November 2011

A lot of new games have released this week and are giving Modern Warfare 3 a run for its money. Activision's blockbuster has marked an 87% decrease in sales compared to the last time we checked in, but has still managed to cling on to the top spot for now. Skyrim, FIFA 12, Battlefield and Just Dance 3 are also still enjoying strong Christmas sales and jostling around the lower positions.

Elsewhere, however, it's all change please. Assassin's Creed: Revelations has zip-lined and British gunpowdered its way into second place, along with Saints Row: The Third, Halo Anniversary and The Legend Of Zelda: Skyward Sword all securing top ten prestige. A 3DS game is also in the charts (hell, it's about time), thanks to Super Mario 3D Land finally giving us beleaguered early adopters what we want.

As always, we've got the all-important rankings below.

PETA: Playing Mario Turns You Into A Furmongerer

Normally, when someone objects to video games, it's because of extreme violence or sexual content - you know, worthwhile ventures. PETA, on the other hand, must have been pretty bored in the office yesterday, because they've gone and targeted a fat plumber whose only real crime is to enjoy dressing up in onesies.

Apparently, according to PETA, the Tanooki Suit promotes the notion that wearing fur is worthy of a thumbs up. No, I'm not kidding. They're denouncing Mario on the grounds that he might prove to be a fashion trend-setter.

The 3DS has not been in the best health of late, but on top of the upcoming price drop, Nintendo have announced that Super Mario 3DS is now to be called Super Mario 3D Land and will be releasing this year in November. Furthermore, Mario Kart 7 will be releasing on the 3DS in the December window, so there'll be a couple of must-have games for the platform just in time for Christmas...that would appear to be the idea, anyway.

We previewed both Super Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart 7 earlier this month.
