Syndicate is currently freely available to download on PC. Act fast as these On The House deals can come and go without warning.
Syndicate is an odd isometric strategy cult classic that sees you controlling four cyborgs tasked with killing off corporate rivals. Chances are you've heard of it before (or played the FPS remake that had little to do with the original at all). But for the price of zilch, you should check it out.
Us Brits love Bullfrog, and GOG are now running a seriously cheap PC bundle including most of their greatest hits. £3.95 will net you Dungeon Keeper Gold, Dungeon Keeper 2, Syndicate Plus, Syndicate Wars and of course the almighty Theme Hospital, which is currently selling for £1.99 by itself elsewhere. Two extra quid will net you four extra games!
There's also an FMV bundle including 7th Guest and the Phantasmagoria series, but without Realms Of The Haunting, it's a failure in my book.
Satellite Reign, an open-world RTS designed by several veteran developers behind Syndicate and its sequel, is still well short of its $350,000 Kickstarter funding total with six days to go. To this end, Five Lives Studios have released an in-engine visualisation of what the game will hopefully look like. Target footage, not gameplay footage - but it sure is purdy.
Six days to go, $58,000 to raise. Are you in?Click here to read more...
5 Lives Studios, a five-strong team of industry veterans with titles like Syndicate Wars under their belt, have launched a Kickstarter campaign for an incredibly ambitious new project. Satellite Reign promises to offer tactical real-time gameplay set in a dynamic open-world cyberpunk city, which is the best sentence I've typed all week.

The rather impressive Bullfrog Collection over at GOG serves to remind just why Peter Molyneux remains one of this industry's most beloved developers. Includes Dungeon Keeperand its sequel, Magic Carpet, Populous, Populous 2: Trials of the Olympian Gods, Populous: The Beginning, Syndicate, and of course Theme Hospital.
The games are all available individually for $1.49, which is about 92p.
Welcome to the weekend, dear reader, as evidenced by Good Old Games' traditional weekend sale. This week brings us a grab bag of classic EA discounts, including Syndicate, Dungeon Keeper and its sequel, Wing Commander collections, Theme Hospital, Magic Carpet, all the Ultima games and more... for £1.49 each.
It might be high time to stock up on a few legendary games you haven't tried, sample Molyneux in his prime or grab compatible versions of old games you already own. Either way, click the banner or this link right here to hit up the splash page.
Not to be outdone, Origin have started their own Summer Sale by halving the price on several of their games. Not every title listed is a bargain (Mass Effect 3 can be found cheaper elsewhere) but we’ve got the highlights of the offerings below.
Although the single player campaign was par-for-the-course in many respects, DICE’s heavyweight FPS provides one of the best online experiences around, especially in the case of the PC version. Discounted “Shortcut” booster packs are also available if you don’t want to catch up the old fashioned way.
While I couldn’t recommend this at full price, this is definitely worth a look now it has fallen below the £10 mark. While it didn’t quite hit the mark in its execution, the main campaign is a fun if fairly short experience, with the co-op providing some lasting appeal.
It looks highly unlikely that we won’t be getting any form of sequel, but Amalur is worth a look if you want an action-packed RPG. With plenty of content and things to do in this, it could be a tenner well spent.
While it certainly wasn’t a sequel worthy of its predecessor, Dragon Age II managed to get the combat right (on PC at least.) Sadly, everything else was a clearly rushed affair that dragged the experience down. For the current price though, it could be an opportunity for you to continue your adventures in Thedas.
You have up until August 18th to grab any of these if they take your fancy. To check out the full list of current offers head over to Origin by clicking on the link here.
Starbreeze CEO Mikael Nermark has been emphatic in his proud support for the work he and his team did on the FPS reboot Syndicate, suggesting that there were always going to be those who disagreed with the decision to reboot the franchise on a fundamental level, and that those parties "were never ours to win".Click here to read more...
GOG is running an EA guns and spells sale this weekend, with some utter classics up for grabs at half price. Here's the list in full:
Well, that's the weekend sorted, then.
Starbreeze's CEO Mikel Nermark has suggested that the turmoil of the UK retail market last month, centred around the troubles that swamped specialist retailer GAME, hurt the sales of Starbreeze's FPS reboot - Syndicate.Click here to read more...
It's PWNCAST day, folks! This week we gush about Journey, rip Syndicate a new one, discuss the big GDC debate surrounding modern Japanese games, take a look at the Kara traiiler, and ask if Peter Molyneux is better off without Microsoft breathing down his neck. It's the usual mish-mash of industry insight, witty (and not-so-witty) banter, sexy fun times, and we have another competition in store for you.
Yes, that's right, we found an extra Xbox 360 copy of Mass Effect 3 floating around after our Tiwtter party earlier this week. So listen in to the podcast to find out how you could be in with a chance of winning.
NB. The competition will close at noon on Thursday 15th March.

The Syndicate reboot is out, and thus far the FPS has received fairly positive reviews. Basking in the warm afterglow of the game's release, EA have stated that the choice to bring back the franchise as an FPS was the right choice.Click here to read more...
The Vita has landed... squarely on top of the UK charts. Uncharted: Golden Abyss and FIFA Football have romped to first and second place respectively - and with good reason: they're both undeniably fantastic games as well as being solid launch titles for the new platform. I'm reliably informed that sales of these two titles accounted for nearly half of all games sales in the UK over the past seven days. An amazing achievement.
Elsewhere in the charts, controversial newcomer Syndicate has entered in seventh place, and we'll have a full review for you soon. Starbreeze has big shoes to fill and a vocal fanbase to convince. Rayman Origins is also back in the top ten thanks to its new Vita version (which features heavily in a number of launch bundles), and we couldn't be happier.
We've got the full top ten squirreled away after the break, along with links to our reviews where applicable.Click here to read more...
There's an unmistakable whiff of Deus Ex, particularly in light of Human Revolution, about Syndicate (especially if you swap out black and gold for blue and silver). But while the futuristic setting, the cyberpunk backdrops and the cool takedowns are certainly shared, Starbreeze's game is looking a lot more slickly violent. There's a reason the trailers keep on making us watch that guard shoot himself in the head.Click here to read more...
EA has confirmed that Starbreeze's upcoming Syndicate reboot will not ship with an online pass - and all multiplayer functionality will be unlocked regardless of whether you buy a new or preowned version. Apparently they're confident that players will enjoy the cooperative modes enough to not trade it in, which is actually rather refreshing logic to us. Full story after the break.Click here to read more...
Today's PSN update is all about the demos. The Twisted Metal Beta is the main event, supported by Syndicate's cooperative trial and the freely-available Gotham City Impostors demo. Get on it ahead of tomorrow's server outage.
Otherwise, it's really rather quiet. Kane & Lynch games are now available to download at extortionate prices (avoid, avoid like the plague), and Dead Island's Ryder White DLC pack is on hand to provide a new perspective on the singleplayer campaign. More details here.

Microsoft have announced that a co-op demo for EA and Starbreeze's upcoming shooter Syndicate will be arriving on January 31st. Furthermore, all of L.A. Noire's DLC is half price for the next week as part of the Xbox LIVE Deal of the Week and, better still, Bastion is half price the week after. There's literally going to be no excuse for not playing Supergiant's splendid smash hit.Hit the jump for the full list of Xbox LIVE updates for the next two weeks...
EA's Syndicate reboot is only a month away from release, but if you're a fan of Bullfrog's classic original (and why wouldn't you be?), you'll be pleased to know that the strategic masterclass is headed for a new lease of life. Good Old Games have announced that they'll be releasing the original 1993 game this Thursday with Windows compatibility.
This would normally be cause for celebration, but since other Bullfrog games have been released as mediocre DOSbox versions (including Dungeon Keeper), we'll have to watch and wait to see whether the port passes muster. Still, beggars can't be choosers.
Syndicate's cooperative missions are set to be a major draw for the controversial yet promising FPS reboot, and EA have announced that you'll soon be able to try it out for yourself thanks to a four-player co-op demo slated to release before the end of January. Cast as an agent of emergent megacorp Wulf Western, players will need to work together in order to infiltrate Cayman Global, assassinate Colonel Enrico Gabron, steal his technology blueprints and force his corporation back across the Atlantic. With any luck, it will reflect the quality we witnessed in our hands-on preview.
The demo has been confirmed for the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live, and note that you'll need an active EA (Origin) account for both versions and Xbox Live Gold Membership if you plan to play it on Xbox 360.
