Team Meat Rather Apathetic Over Next-Gen

It's fair to say that Team Meat's Tommy Refenes and Ed McMillen aren't the biggest fans of the console publishing carousel of hoop-jumping. Going on past performance from the console bigwigs, they're not exactly chomping at the bit for the next generation of consoles. In fact, they don't think Durango, the PS4, or the Wii U will have too much of an impact, mainly because hardcore gamers are no longer the ones dictating trends.

Team Meat: Mobile Gaming Companies "View Their Audience As Dumb Cattle"

Team Meat's Edmund McMillen has issued a rousing call to arms in updating fans of Team Meat's plans to bring a Super Meat Boy experience to mobile platforms. In a recent blog post, McMillen castigated "large numbers" of mobile companies for treating gamers with a "lack of respect", accusing them of viewing their consumer audience as "dumb cattle".

Team Meat: WiiWare Space Allowance "Horrible", 3DS' eShop "Reasonable"

Team Meat have slammed Nintendo's file size allowance on WiiWare, branding the 40MB allowance for uploads as "horrible".

"Super Meat Boy would have been on WiiWare if we could have had just a few more megabytes of space," said Team Meat’s Tommy Refenes.

Team Meat Prototyping Tech For Possible Super Meat Boy iOS Release

Team Meat co-founder Edmund McMillen has revealed that the studio are looking into the possibility of bringing acclaimed platformer Super Meat Boy to mobile platforms such as Android and iOS in some form, and are already dabbling with tech and testing out prototypes.

"We are currently developing tech for the next game that might be a touch remake of Super Meat Boy for both [iOS and Android] platforms mentioned," he explained.

"If we end up doing it it won't be anything like the version people are familiar with but something new that embodies the SMB spirit."

Super Meat Boy To Get XBLA Discount & New DLC

"Patching Things Up" With Microsoft

Last week marked a full year since the astounding (and astoundingly difficult) Super Meat Boy hit Xbox Live Arcade, and Team Meat are planning all manner of festivities to celebrate their boy's first birthday. According to the official blog, they're in talks with Microsoft to arrange a major discount for the XBLA version next month as well as a massive new level pack. As if wasn't good enough value already!

Despite loudly complaining about Microsoft's treatment to anyone who'll listen (and being taken to task by other Indie devs), Team Meat plan to patch things up and put the past behind them to "do what is best for SMB and the fans." We're glad to hear it, because whilst Microsoft's indie policies have plenty of room for improvement, Team Meat has definitely come out of the collaboration with major profits and one hell of a game.

Super Meat Boy Ultra/Rare Edition Review | 500% Of Your Awesome RDA

Platform: PC

Developer: Team Meat

Publisher: Lace Mamba Global

Super Meat Boy is an indie benchmark; a mechanically perfect and unrepentantly difficult platformer that has already gained an impeccable reputation on Steam and Xbox Live Arcade. However, the merchandise-laden physical disc editions remained tantalisingly out of reach over on the other side of Atlantic Ocean... until now. The Ultra and Rare editions are now available to buy in the UK, and since we don't have a review of the original game on site (mainly due to the fact that I was unable to push through the Rapture world for several months), it's high time we gave this latter day classic the respect it deserves.

Team Meat & Zen Studios Brawl Over Microsoft Indie Treatment

Super Meat Boy Devs Attacked By Fellow Indies

Over the last few months, Team Meat has continually publicly attacked Microsoft's handling of the Super Meat Boy XBLA release, which they claim was under-exposed, poorly advertised and horribly supported. The Indie studio went as far as saying that Microsoft "f*cked" them as part of a "f*cking mindf*ck" (ouch), but in an interesting development, fellow independent outfit Zen Studios (the developers behind Zen Pinball) have spoken out to defend Microsoft's policies. On top of that, they've accused Team Meat of cynically milking the situation for extra PR rather than actually making a stand against a corporate juggernaut that's crushing the little guy.

As you'd expect, Team Meat haven't responded well - leading to a genuinely unpleasant and filthy war of words on Twitter, Gamasutra and social networks. We've got the full story below... and have a review of the recently-released Super Meat Boy Ultra Rare Edition in the pipeline.

These days, pirates don't look like Johnny Depp, they have no swash and very little buckle and their Tortuga is an enormous search engine for torrents. Team Meat know a little bit about pirates, what with Super Meat Boy having been cracked and copied a fair bit on PC, but apparently it really doesn't bother them at all.
