Get Dying Light on PC for just £8.54

This ends up being one of the lowest prices we've seen for the PC version, even without the use of the voucher code. In our review we called Techland's latest "a diamond in the rough that really empowers you to revel in the design aspects of its zombie-infested sandbox," so to grab it for under a tenner isn't too shabby. Huge Dying Light expansion 'The Following' announced

The Following, a large story-based expansion for popular zombie title, Dying Light, has just been announced by Techland. This new setting was teased earlier this week with images of an all-terrain dirt buggy.

Most of the details are being held back for a proper reveal at Gamescom next week., but the best news so far is that The Following will be made available to Season Pass holders at no extra cost. A price for non-pass holders has yet to be announced.

Dying Light Review | Fight or Flight

I'm being chased by men with guns, which seems particularly unfair given that all I have is a loose piece of plumbing equipment being gently warmed by a battery duct-taped to one end. But Dying Light isn't really a game that wants you to fight very often; it would much prefer that you run.

So off I tear, racing down side streets and narrow alleyways, gently nudging the right bumper to kick off towards nearby ledges, scrambling over fences and rooftops, and dodging legions of the walking dead, occasionally sliding between the festering legs of these shambling zombies to deliver the odd crunchy powerslide attack... because it feels good. I race to the top of a high building and realise that I've inadvertently solved my earlier problem. The men with guns are now being ripped to shreds by the undead masses.

The sun is going down, and the vision below me is captivating. Gory, disgusting, and peppered with sickening squelchy sounds, but undeniably beautiful to me with my slim sliver of health.

Dying Light Review | Fight or Flight

I'm really enjoying this game, and that's not something I really thought much during my first few hours with Dying Light.

Opening Scenes | Dying Light Gameplay - First 30 Mins

Dying Light is an odd game. Its story is rubbish, and its scripted missions are even worse, frequently railroading you into combat against men with machine guns when all you have is a bloodied table leg. But there's something to be said for the systems underpinning the game's world. Ignoring the script and going off-piste and just having fun with all of Dying Light's bells and whistles is actually a lot of fun. Ignore the clunky framing, and there's a wonkily brilliant sandbox to much around in, stuffed with the undead and things to climb.

Not that you see much of that in the game's opening scenes. Let's just say that it takes a little while to get going.

Nonetheless, here's a look at the game's introduction and the scene setting and instruction that comes with Dying Light's first half hour or so. The video above is bereft of commentary, but you can click here to see and hear me take on the game's first hour too if you like.

If you're a fan of gritty westerns and tight shooters, I recommend this surprisingly excellent download without hesitation. Dead Island is your new free Xbox 360 'Game With Gold'

Xbox Live Gold Members can now download Dead Island for free thanks to the Xbox 360's 'Games With Gold' promotion, replacing Lara Croft & The Guardian Of Light. The cooperative weapon-crafting zombie-smacking adventure makes up for its awful characters with plenty of scope for freeform fun, especially when you team up with friends. Plus, you know, it's free. Which is awesome.

I daresay that many gamers will have completed Dead Island years ago, but you know what they say about gift horses. They need to shape up or face a one-way trip to the knacker's yard You shouldn't look them in the mouth.

12 Minutes of Dying Light Gameplay

12 Minutes of Dying Light Gameplay

We've been dying (sorry) to see Dying Light in action since its initial E3 reveal and Techland have finally unleashed some gameplay footage. This survival action game takes the Dead Island template and adds in some slick parkour moves to spice up the action.

It's about time developers started to take some influence from the criminally under-appreciated Mirror's Edge and we have our fingers crossed this will be more fun to play than Brink. Gameplay here looks to be very open, with tough choices needing to be made on the fly, as shown when discovering a lone survivor on the way to a supply drop.

You'll also get a brief look at how much of a bad idea it is to be caught outside after dark in Dying Light. We'll presume the almost instant transition to night-time was sped up a little for display purposes in this mission, but it would appear direct combat is a big no no at night. The zombies appear to go through some sort of transformation, becoming faster, stronger and more agile requiring intense sneaking around or terrifying sprints when discovered. Consider this one back on our radars. Enjoy the video after the break.

Dying Light Trailer Runs Like Hell

Techland's new trailer for Dying Light might be bereft of gameplay, but it's a good tone-setter for the recently-revealed open world zombie survival game slated for next-gen consoles. Dying Light will feature a dynamic day/night cycle that profoundly impacts on enemy behaviour, while also showing off the PS4 and Xbox One tech to advantage (though current-gen versions have also been announced). By the looks of things, we can expect some parkour-inspired traversal too.

Check it out below, and let us know what you make of it.

Hellraid E3 Trailer Goes Medieval On Zombies

Techland's first person zombie slasher Hellraid has gotten a new gameplay trailer showing off wholesale undead annihilation. Unlike Dead Island, players will have access to magical spells and imbued weaponry, and the game is likely to be more focused rather than offering a sprawling open world. We'll find out more soon.

I'll level with you, folks: we're going to be posting a lot of trailers over the next week (and you'll see some increasingly desperate puns). Just sit back, grab some popcorn and we'll all get through this.
