Darkness II: Limited Edition is unmissable at £3

The Darkness II is usually lurking around at a wallet-friendly price, but today it's practically throwing itself at you for £3 on the 360.

The Darkness II is a fine example of how to improve on an average first game. We love the new comic-noir art style that perfectly complements this grim tale of a mob boss battling rival mobs and cults who want to steal his powers. The Darkness of the title enables Jacky to use two serpent-like arms that sprout from his shoulders to attack his enemies. Using these attacks in conjunction with guns provides the ultimate in quad-wielding bloodbaths.

Thanks to sethjee.

The Darkness II: Limited Edition is back down to £3.00 delivered on Xbox 360

Tesco are once again giving The Darkness II: Limited Edition away at the crazy price of £3.00.

The Darkness II is a decent sequel with a moody colour palette and gloriously gory quad-wielding combat, as you can simultaneously fire two guns while impaling foes with your nightmarish demon tentacles. Though I can't help but feel that it lacks some of the atmosphere of the first game, there's no denying that it's an absolute blast and a steal at £3.00.

Many thanks to Ace Hayward @ HUKD.

The Darkness II deal is back - £3.25 on 360

Tesco really don't like having the Darkness II in stock, as soon as they do they're practically giving it away for £3.25. Maybe it grows vicious tentacles at night and smashes through crates of Hudls.

The Darkness II: Limited Edition | Base | £3.99
Price Comparison | Review

Also available on Xbox 360 for £4.99.

Get on my pile, Darkness 2! This one had slipped off my radar since its release two years ago, but at £3.99 it's straight into my basket over at Base.com. I'd advise you to act fast if you want it for this price too. The comic-book inspired FPS sequel was given a killer 'comic-noir' visual makeover (cel-shading) which works well with the twisted tale of the mafia, monsters and quad-wielding via Estacado's two hydra-esque helpers.

The Darkness II: Limited Edition | £9.99 | Game Collection | PS3 / 360

The Darkness II is a fine example on how to improve on a dreary original. Adding a cell-shaded comic noir style really gave the game an identity. Not that you'd get it confused with many games as you have two demon tentacles sticking out your shoulders allowing you to rip enemies in half like a wishbone while you dual-wield your guns. This limited edition includes extra abilities, Darkling costumes and digital downloads of a few comics. It's about seven pound cheaper than the regular version so you might as well get this on the cheap.

This download will save you over £7 over the boxed version so is well worth a look. The Darkness II is a much more polished experience than the first game and the violent quad-wielding gangster slaying has never looked better thanks to the cell-shaded graphical overhaul. So, if you want to use demon tentacles to rip a man in half like a wishbone, pick this up now.

The Darkness II Trailer Shows Off Brutal Executions

2K Games have released a short, sharp trailer for The Darkness II that focuses on one of the major benefits of living with a monstrous demon parasite: horrifyingly brutal executions. Prepare yourself for 33 seconds of thorough nastiness.

The Darkness II will hit stores this Friday - and you can find out what Josh made of the demo here. Or download it yourself. Both fine options.

The Darkness II Demo Impressions | Pretty Goodfellas

It took only twenty minutes to make my way through everything The Darkness II's demo had to offer, and in that twenty minutes I saw more evisceration and 'things that make me squeal “ouch”' than I have in any other game this generation. Hyperbolic as that may sound, Digital Extremes make very clear from the get-go that their take on Top Cow's supernatural noir isn't about to pull any punches, and it certainly ISN'T for kids.

The Darkness 2 Demo Due Next Week

On Xbox LIVE, PSN And Steam

Despite some initial reservations, we're quickly warming to The Darkness 2, what with its quad-wielding chaos and wonderfully original art style. We're a little sad to see Starbreeze jump ship - although at least it was for this - but Digital Extremes appear to have truly tapped in to what makes Jackie Estacado and his demonic passenger work, and the results speak for themselves.

Set for release later this year, publisher 2K Games has announced a demo for The Darkness 2 is due by the middle of next week. It launches first on Xbox LIVE on Tuesday the 17th for Gold subscribers, before Silver members, American PSN users and Steam subscribers can download it the next week, on Tuesday the 24th. Finally, PSN users in Europe and Asia/Pacific can get their hands on it the following day, Wednesday the 25th. Expect our verdict on the demo very soon. [2K Games]

The Darkness 2 Video Shows Off Co-Op Mode

'Vendettas' Brings Four New Characters To The Table

The more we see of Jackie Estacado's return in The Darkness 2, the more we like it. Between the original visual presentation, the lauded 'quad-wielding' features and now the recently announced co-operative mode - Vendettas - this might just be the surprise hit of 2012. Running parallel to Jackie's story in the campaign, Vendettas adds four additional characters with unique abilities to the mix and tasks you with battling the mythic Brotherhood cult who want nothing more than to rip the Darkness from Jackie, regardless of the outcome.

Murder With Style In The Latest Darkness 2 Video

Jackie's Art Is Death...

And he's about to paint his masterpiece. I'm lifting a line straight from Tony Scott's Man on Fire there, but the latest The Darkness 2 video really does demonstrate how elegant Jackie's murdering sprees have become since the first game. The ability to swat foes with your tentacles in Starbreeze's effort was a tad clumsy, with Digital Extremes now at the helm, Jackie's demonic limbs have a new lease of life, plucking up mob goons, splitting them from their middle or simply plunging down their every orifice. It's gruesome, it's bloody, it's pretty damn awesome.

Finally, a custom illustration from Marc Silvestri adorns the cover, while a redeemable token inside grants you access to digital copies of the Darkness Origins Volumes 1 and 2 comics. [Eurogamer]

The Darkness 2 Trailer Shows Off Quad-Wielding

Proves Men Can Multi-Tentacle-Task

The more we see of The Darkness 2, the more we like the look of it. At first, the change of hands from Starbreeze to Digital Extremes had us worried; then came the switch to pseudo cel-shaded visuals. We expected the worse. Turns out Digital Extremes seem utterly at home with Jackie  Estacado's second outing, and the visuals are actually quite lovely. A new video has been released, showing off Jackie's new-found 'Quad-Wielding' capabilities, with the demonic mobster slicing up enemies with his tentacles whilst blasting them away with his patented pistols. How dextrous.

The Darkness 2

Just a quick update here for fans of Digital Extremes' upcoming demonic blood-bath, The Darkness 2, that publisher 2K Games has opted to shunt the title into a 2012 release slot. Initially scheduled for October 7th of this year, either the developers require a wee bit more time to iron out the kinks and wipe on the polish, or the bustling presence of blockbusters such as Arkham City, Elder Scrolls V Skyrim and - of course - Modern Warfare 3 have forced 2K's hand.

It's a wise move, really; the rest of the year is filled to the brim with cracking titles. An early 2012 release offers 2K the chance to plunder a few post-Christmas blues and avoid the likes of Mass Effect 3 and co before they land. Tom dropped a preview back in March, detailing the games' newfangled features, such as 'quad-wielding' and the grisly new executions you can perform courtesy of your mischievous demon arms. The scamps!

E3 is almost upon us now, and so the hype-machine for a number of titles is creaking into gear as publishers crank out the media in anticipation for the year's biggest videogame event.
