  • What: Toy Story Nintendo DS Lite Bag
  • Where: Game
  • Current Price: £2.98

Lets face it, if you need something to cheer yourself up, seeing your favourite Toy Story characters like Woody, Buzz, Rex, Ham, Jessie, and Bullseye, staring up at you just before you start playing away on your DS will certainly bring a smile to your face, as will the price seeing as Game have just shed over a fiver. The bag is officially licensed by Nintendo and it's compatible with the DSi, DS Lite, DSi XL, and supposedly the 3DS as well. You also have a say about which characters are strewn across your bag seeing as their pictures are removable. For an idea of what the bag looks like click here. Thanks to goonertillidie @ HUKD.

This latest Toy Story title is that rarest of things, a movie tie-in game which doesn't completely suck. Like the movies, the game is well made and solid, a clear recipient of high attention to detail. Unfortunately the DS version does not match up to those available on the consoles thanks to a story which feels poorly put together, a selection of technical issues including a dodgy camera and somewhat skeletal presentation. It's a perfectly playable game with nice graphics and some charming touches and therefore probably worth picking up at this price but it's just a real shame that it didn't receive the same sort of care as its bigger brothers on the consoles.

The Toy Story 3 game for the PS3 and XBox 360 is actually surprisingly decent. The DS version, while not bad, suffers from problems not found in the console editions. The graphics are quite nice but the presentation feels a bit skeletal, with the story sort of cobbled together. There are some technical issues too, with glitches and bugs being an issue and a dodgy camera. Overall the DS version is playable with some neat little touches that are probably just enough to make it worth picking up but it just feels a bit like an unloved stepchild, which has received only the barest attention. You've seen the movie and perhaps shed a tear, and now you want an interactive experience with all your favourite toys including Buzz, Woody, and Rex. Well, it's a good job there's a tie in game for you to get your hands on.

Picking up a copy on the PS3'll set you back £29.99 if you mossy on over to The Game Collection, which is just over £2 cheaper than the next best offer of £32.04 coming in from Tesco Entertainment.

You can play as either Woody, Buzz, or Jessie, and there's also a PS3 exclusive character for you to take out for a spin in the form of Emperor Zurg, who has a unique set of missions for you to embark on although his main priority is to destroy Buzz.

The game's split into two modes. Story mode follows the events of the new movie, whereas Toybox mode allows you to build your own levels, which includes deciding on the inhabitants and the missions you'll have to undertake. You'll also be able to increase the number of items you can construct your environments with, by earning money in story mode, which you can then spend on objects at Al's Toy Barn.

The enjoyment of dropping into the Toy Story universe is the main thing the game's got going for it and despite the fun you can have with it, it's probably best to wait for it to drop down in price a bit more.
