Pre-order Call of Duty: Black Ops III on PC for just £22.79

There's still three months to go until the latest COD title arrives, but if you're looking to secure a PC copy ahead of its release this deal is the best around by some margin. So far Black Ops III has been making some rather positive noises, with the multiplayer looking like good fun, the inclusion of 4-player co-op in the main campaign, and the promise of larger maps to accommodate for the increased player count. You can learn more about the changes in our article from earlier this year. Thanks to KarnageCentral @ HUKD!

Can Black Ops 3 fix Call Of Duty's biggest flaw?

Call Of Duty: Black Ops III broke cover over the weekend, as I'm sure you know. The hype train is already rolling in advance of its November 6th launch following the reveal trailer, news of a beta and loads of leaked intel about what Treyarch's third game plans to bring to the table.

To be frank, we're really rather excited.

Professional detachment and  Treyarch's past form aside, Black Ops III is making some very encouraging noises and seems dead-set on fixing one of the biggest problems with the series so far. The singleplayer campaign.

Can Black Ops 3 fix Call Of Duty's biggest flaw?

Call Of Duty is famed for its multiplayer, of course, but many players have forgotten that COD 4: Modern Warfare also delivered one of the most impressive FPS campaigns of the last console generation. It may have been bombastic and intense, but it also delivered a uniquely thought-provoking perspective on war, focusing on the personal cost in some unforgettable and surprisingly intimate sequences. Coupled with some sensational set pieces (All Ghillied Up will remain a timeless classic), it was an underrated component of a deservedly lauded shooter.

Call of Duty: Black Ops III gets ridiculously fun trailer

The brand new gameplay debut trailer for Call of Duty: Black Ops III from Treyarch just landed and it's pretty damn awesome if we're honest.

You'll have fun spotting some of the 'influences' from other hit games. So far we can see reminders of the likes of Vanquish, Titanfall, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Binary Domain and wait,,, Haze? We can't wait to get our hands on the game as it looks set to continue in a similar manner to the highly enjoyable Advanced Warfare, despite development reverting back to Treyarch.

We didn't see exo-suits, but enhanced movement like speed thrusts, wall-running and knee slides certainly seem to be in. Along with Deus Ex-style upgrades and robotic enemies and mechs as seen in the likes of Vanquish and Binary Domain. We're certainly not complaining, mash up all these influences and you have the potential for a fantastic shooter. Advanced Warfare was the boot up the arse the series needed and Black Ops III looks like it may speed things up even more. We most certainly approve.

Call Of Duty: Ghosts isn't as forward-thinking as we'd have liked (especially in terms of its nonsensical campaign, which Black Ops II somewhat puts to shame), but there's no denying that its mental multiplayer is still great fun. SimplyCDKeys will email you a PC Steam key for a shade under £20, which is a decent saving if you're looking to get involved. Thanks to imdurc @ HUKD!

Amrich Hits Back At Despicable Trolls Following Black Ops II Gun Tweaks

'This Is Why The World Doesn't Take Gaming Seriously'

The latest round of Black Ops II rebalancing fractionally increased the kill time of certain weapons, but Treyarch have subsequently suffered "threats of violence" and personal abuse via email, Twitter and forum posts from disgruntled players. Community man Dan Amrich has stepped up to decry the "immature, whiny assholes" behind the hateful torrent, suggesting that their behaviour is responsible for perpetuating negative gamer stereotypes.

Infinity Ward: Call Of Duty Ghosts Engine Is 'Significantly Upgraded,' Not Entirely New

Despite describing Call Of Duty: Ghosts' engine as "all-new" in the initial press releases, Infinity Ward has stated that it's instead been heavily upgraded from their existing tech, and packs enough sweeping improvements to legitimately be referred to as a brand-new.

Comparison Video Pits Call Of Duty: Ghosts Against Modern Warfare 3

Infinity Ward have released a portion of their Xbox One reveal presentation that demonstrates the advances Call Of Duty: Ghosts makes over Modern Warfare 3 in terms of graphical grunt. The newly unveiled shooter uses a new next-generation (cross-generation, technically) engine that finally makes motion-captured dogs a reality.

Call Of Duty: Ghosts is dated for November 5th on current-gen consoles and PC, while it's also confirmed for PS4 and Xbox One. You can watch the reveal trailer and dev diary through the link.

Mo-Capped Dogs Confirmed

Call Of Duty: Ghosts took to the Xbox One stage to reveal our first look at their next-generation engine, which seems to do a fantastic job of handling foliage and facial expressions (the latter of which is odd for a game about "masked warriors," but hey ho). Infinity Ward promise that it will be the "best" and "most emotional" Call Of Duty game to date, with writing duties falling to Stephen Gaghan (Traffic, Syriana).

Fans React To Call Of Duty: Ghosts Footage On Slow News Day
Some Australian Call Of Duty fans were shown a snippet of Call Of Duty: Ghosts footage, and apparently got rather excited. Watch below for insightful critique and commentary, like "sick" and "that's scary."

Why yes, it is a slow news day today, thanks for asking. Mainly because of that great big next-gen reveal event scheduled for 18:00, during which we'll presumably get to see that footage ourselves. However, if they're actually running live code on that MACBOOK, this might be one of today's biggest stories...

Black Ops II: Uprising DLC Review | Whole Liotta Fun

Platforms: Xbox 360 (reviewed, 1200 MSP) | PC | PS3

Developer: Treyarch

Publisher: Activision

It's increasingly fashionable to rail against Call Of Duty and everything it stands for, but despite a few predictable grievances, millions of players still flock to its enjoyable blend of skill, uncomplicated fun and rampant spectacle to unwind after a long day. It's interesting, then, that the latest map pack for Black Ops II favours the latter. In an effort to give players something interesting to look at beyond wartorn streets, Uprising goes heavy on gimmicks, bells and whistles, offering four maps and a new Zombie level that all feature a unique 'thing.' Whether you're dodging through lava, stomping across a miniature city that makes you feel like a giant or punting zombies into a demonic maw as Ray Liotta, there's no denying that Uprising is gun fun on a bun.

If you've fallen out of love with Call Of Duty, don't regularly play Black Ops II or spend your days whining about there being "too many shooters" without making the effort to enjoy the cornucopia of different genres out there (you know who you are), there's nothing for you here. But if you're still enjoying Treyarch's blockbuster, Uprising is going to be a welcome breath of fresh air over the coming months.
