When it comes to role models for the youth of today, Grand Theft Auto isn't exactly the first name that springs to mind. However, the BBC plans to shoot a drama about the making of the legendary series in order to help glamorise the UK software industry and get more children interested in coding.

'TV TV TV!' - Xbox Original programming revealed

From Halo to Thierry Henry

Phil Spencer may be bringing the Xbox brand back to videogames (a novel idea), but Microsoft are still planning on cementing the Xbox One as a multifaceted entertainment system with a robust selection of original programming. They've now announced a lengthy list of shows and features headed to the service, from Spielberg's Halo television series to footy documentaries, gritty crime shows, comedies, graphic novel adaptations and even exclusive footage of discovering the legendary ET landfill - which happened yesterday.

The next time we say, "TV TV TV," we might actually mean it as a compliment.

The wheels have fallen off of Microsoft's wagon a little bit of late with the early resolution battles coming out strongly in favour of the PS4. But given that the slogan for Microsoft's next-gen console is All in One. Input One. can they claw some ground back with the announcement of a slew of TV and entertainment partners?

No, probably not. At least, not when the ones confirmed are the ones we already have on Xbox 360.

Spielberg To Produce Live-Action Halo TV Series

During the Xbox One reveal event, Stephen Spielberg revealed that he'll be producing a live-action Halo TV show. Describing the franchise as "myth-making meat" via an on-screen presentation, the legendary director confirmed that he'll be working closely with 343 Industries, and we can assume that the oft-delayed Halo film probably won't be happening any time soon.

Halo: The Television Series will apparently be a "premium" show delivered via Xbox One's television services. We don't know whether it will be pay-per-view or free for Xbox Live Gold members yet. We'd have probably preferred a Halo 5 announcement, but we'll take what we can can get.

Battlefield: Bad Company Getting A Comedy TV Show

News from Tinsel Town: Battlefield Bad Company will be headed to the small screen. Deadline Hollywood reports that Fox has greenlit a comedy action series based on the misadventures of the perpetually-unlucky squad, written and produced by John Eisendrath of Alias fame.

"It follows four renegade soldiers as they exit military life and enter the private sector," Deadline Hollywood elaborates. "But trouble is never far behind as they realize their commanding officer had used them to further the ends of a shadow unit within the government and now wants them dead to cover his tracks."

Understandable knee-jerk reactions aside, perhaps this would be a good fit for a lighthearted TV show? We'd still prefer another series entry, though...

Microsoft Puts Web TV Subscription Work On Hold

Scared Off By Licensing Costs?

Last week, rumours emerged that Microsoft was planning a DVR-esque device to be integrated in to future Xbox consoles. Work on the project had split off from previous work inside Microsoft on a patented set-top box where the company could deliver television and films to customers. Well, it appears they instead turned their attention to an online model not dissimilar to Netflix, until Microsoft was presented with the licensing costs for such an endeavor, which appears to have put a spanner in the works.

Recent visitors to Microsoft's official Xbox site will have noticed its new 'Metro' design which, along with a few aesthetic changes, also includes a couple of extra features, such as the ability to cancel the Xbox Live Gold auto-renewal feature.  While it's currently unclear as to whether these features will make it into the 360's next major dashboard update, Microsoft have announced that their new 'Metro' design will be hitting consoles on December 6th, bringing it in-line with the rest of their products' user interfaces.
