April 2010 Game Releases

We're hurtling towards the end of April, and here comes another new releases post. It seems that everyone's just waited until the last week of the month to release their titles.  Dead To Rights: Retribution comes out along with Square's action-RPG Nier this week before an exciting end-of-month avalanche on the 30th.

How to use: Click on the title of the video game if you would like to see the cross platform possibilities. Click on the game cover of the platform of your choice to see the price comparison for that particular game, showing you the cheapest prices from UK online retailers.

NB. Game developers are notoriously flighty so be aware some of these dates may well change.

Wario Ware Touched £9.95 @ Shop To [DS Games] photo

Since the first Wario Ware title appeared on the gameboy advance, there seems to have been one for every Nintendo console going, culminating in the most recent Smooth Moves for the Wii. The DS's offering, Touched is a fairly mediocre addition to the series and over far too quickly but nonetheless offers a fair bit of fun and some laughs for your cash, especially if you haven't played any of the other games before.

Shop To are currently beating the competition by a mile, selling Wario Ware: Touched for £9.95. Believe it or not, the next best price I could locate for the title was £25.29 from Amazon, giving an awesome £15 saving, so if you've been looking for this game at a bargain price for a while, rejoice!

If you are familiar with the Wario Ware concept then you will know what to expect: a constant onslaught of mini games (each lasting no more than about 5 seconds) thrown at you one after another, each requiring you to perform a simple task as quickly as you can.

The main novelty of the game - that it centres around the touch screen and works on stylus control is, sadly, also its main drawback. The "touch" hook to every game means that they quickly start to feel repetitive, with little variation from quickly tapping the screen in a specific spot, dragging the stylus around or drawing lines on screen. This can get dull and considering how short the game is, it's a real concern that it cannot maintain a decent level of excitement.
