Pay attention, Nintendo fans, because another retailer is selling the legendary Metal Mario 30th Anniversary Wii U controller. Part of the officially-licensed PDP Fight Pad Line, it boasts a shiny metallic finish that looks gorgeous even if it will likely attract fingerprints like flypaper. What's even more exciting, though, is that we've also got a new cheapest price for the peripheral, which is dated for release in October.
Thanks to stefan852stefan @ HUKD!
Start your engines, Nintendo fans, because a new Wii U/ GameCube controller appears to have leaked out. A UK retailer carries a listing for a 30th Anniversary Metal Mario Gamecube-inspired controller, which comes with a shiny metallic finish and should be natively compatible with both Wii and Wii U (no adaptor required). As far as we can tell, it's part of the officially-licensed Fight Pad Line. VideoGameBox are currently accepting orders and even offering a discount via their current voucher code.
There are a couple of caveats worth mentioning, though, in that it's the only listing we can find for the controller anywhere. It's also very early to pre-order considering that the peripheral is ostensibly due in October.
If you've got some GameCube controllers gathering dust in the attic, it's time to dust them off and press them back into action with the GameCube Controller Adapter for Wii U and PC. You can plug up to four controllers into the USB hub, which will liven up your Super Smash Bros sessions no end and help you get involved in 8-way brawls!
This nifty device once commanded ridiculous prices at launch, but you can now buy the GameCube Controller Adapter for just £9.99 at Gameseek.
Haven't got into Smash yet? You can buy Super Smash Bros For Wii U for £28.99 new, or pick up a used copy for £26.99.
Click here to read our Super Smash Bros for Wii U review if you're still on the fence. Many thanks to bargain76 @ HUKD for spotting this awesome deal!
You can now pick up a 3TB Seagate Expansion Desktop Hard Drive for £69.99 at eBuyer.
It's a great price for a massive amount of memory, whether you need it for PC games or to plug into your Xbox One or PS4 for extra storage. I think it will work with Wii U too, given that Nintendo's console likes external drives with their own dedicated power supply, but if you know different then drop us a line!
Many thanks to millarcat @ HUKD.
The GamePad may be a great peripheral that deserves to be taken more seriously, but its battery life is horrendous. Thankfully you can extend your game time with the high-capacity battery, which you can now pick up for under £16.
Since the listing is on Amazon France, however, you'll need to pay in £ Sterling to get the price -- you can choose your currency at checkout.. A great find by preparationiskey @ HUKD!
Just bought a Wii U? Hit the ground running with the handy Wii U Accessory Starter Pack for just £3.00!
It includes a Neoprene GamePad case, Wii U Stylus, standard Stylus, Screen Protector Applicator and Cleaning Cloth. You'll definitely want to keep a spare stylus and cleaning cloth handy, especially if your kids frequently use it, while the screen protector and Neoprene case should help guard the GamePad against wear and tear. It's a pricey bit of kit, so £3 is probably a decent investment.
Note that you'll need to reserve and collect in store to avoid paying extra delivery. Many thanks to jamesianmoore @ HUKD!
The GamePad may be a great peripheral that deserves to be taken more seriously, but its battery life is horrendous. Thankfully you can extend your game time with the high-capacity battery, which you can pick up for under £19. If you don't mind shipping, you can get it even cheaper on Amazon France. If you own a Wii U or 3DS and are in the market for a decent pair of cans, you can't go far wrong with this screaming deal. Turtle Rock's Ear Force NLa headset will only run you £5.10 from iCell Media's Amazon marketplace (4.8 stars, over 6000 ratings), a whopping saving of about £10 as far as we can make out. UPDATE: Spawnst★R reminds us that it can be plugged into practically anything via the 3.5mm headphone jack. Thanks!
Many thanks to ggchris @ HUKD - gg indeed!
Solve your storage problems with a Western Digital 2TB My Book USB 3.0 External Hard Drive for £55 from Tesco. Click here to buy >>
Need something for housing your rapidly-expanding Steam library? Or perhaps you're getting into game capturing and need somewhere to store your video files? Whatever the reason, Tesco have slashed their price for the Western Digital 2TB My Book USB 3.0 External Hard Drive (thanks to nickc74 for the tip!). It's mains powered, so it should work with Wii U consoles as well, and Nintendo lists the MyBook range amongst compatible units.
It's worth noting that you don't necessarily need a mains-powered HDD for the Wii U. I prised the hard drive out of my defunct, 8-year-old laptop and used a Y-cable and it works perfectly.
A tip from HUKD's Tomis000 indicates that Tesco stores might be clearing out their Wii U stock on the cheap, with the Great Yarmouth store offering the Wii U 32GB Premium Nintendo Land bundle for under £150, which is an absolute steal!
More details here: http://goo.gl/YY80CZ
It also looks like Tesco might be selling Pro Controllers for a tenner too (also via Tomis000). Click here for more on that.
In any case, if you happen to live or work or otherwise find yourself near a Tesco that stocks games, swing in and have a gander!
Want that classic Gamecube feeling when it comes to Super Smash Bros for Wii U? Well the official range of controllers is perfect for some multiplayer action, especially if managed to pick up the adapter on the cheap. If not, you'll need a Wiimote as these wired controllers use the Wiimote connector port to link up to the Wii U. Cheers JC2MULTIPLAYER000!
Official accessories and peripherals can be a little bit pricey, and we're used to seeing Wiimote Nunchuks for upwards of £12.99. However, the Argos eBay outlet are doing both white and black versions for just £9.95:
Thanks to JC2MULTIPLAYER000 for the tip!
Need some new controllers for when Super Smash Bros releases later this winter on Wii U? I've lost more of wired ones, so I'm certainly going to need a few replacement Gamecube-style controllers, and these Mario and Luigi themed items from Hori look pretty damn sharp.
Hori have been in the peripherals game for a long time, producing high-quality controllers for Nintendo platforms since the days of the SNES, and they tend to go out of stock pretty quickly, so get your pre-orders in now!
If you're looking for a cheaper alternative, the PDP pads can be had for under £20, and come in Mario, Peach, and Yoshi flavours. Thanks Gamer_U at HUKD!
Fancy a more conventional controller for your Wii U? Well, Amazon are selling the official Pro Controller for just under £30, which is the cheapest price around currently. We love the GamePad here at Dealspwn, but sometimes something a wee (wii?) bit smaller is better for longer gaming sessions. That said, whereas the thumb placements make perfect sense on the GamePad, the upper placements of both thumbsticks on the Pro are a little disconcerting at first.
Still, a fine price for a fine controller, and the build quality is excellent.
Great spot by Adamcraze1.
