Namco Bandai will be rolling out a basic Free version of Tank! Tank! Tank! this week on the Wii U eShop, allowing players to engage in three of the multiplayer game modes - Monster Hunt, Free For All and Team Versus - three times per day. If you like what you play, content, modes and singleplayer levels can then be unlocked via various DLC packs. A single purchase of any DLC pack will remove the aforementioned daily restriction.
It's an interesting and under-utilised take on the traditional console publishing model, though we can't help but wonder whether desperation rather than innovation might have been the driving force behind Namco's decision. You can read more about why that might be in our 5/10 Tank! Tank! Tank! review.
