Tekken 6 preorder £29.85 @ Shopto.net [XBOX 360/PS3 Games]Beat-em-ups are making something of a comeback recently. With Street Fighter IV having already brought button smashing, controller hurling, ‘winner stays on’ and tears of frustration flooding back to our living rooms, Tekken 6 stands poised to grab a slice of the action.

Due to be released on the 30th October, Shopto are currently offering customers the chance to pre-order a copy for £29.85. Shopto guarantee customers that if they order before 12pm on the 28th October they will receive their copy by the game’s release date.  If consumers receive a copy after the 30th, Shopto promises to give a £3 refund (a bit lame if you ask me, I think they should give you the game free!).

It remains to be seen how well Tekken 6 will perform compared to its arch rival SFIV. However, given the reception Tekken 6 has received in Japan – taking double the income from arcades compared its Capcom counterpart (according to a Eurogamer preview) – things look promising. Some argue that Tekken’s success over Street Fighter is, in part, down to its more consistent flow of releases which has helped ‘keep the brand in the public consciousness’. (EuroGamer)

Tekken 6 is certainly not lacking when it comes to variety. There are no less than 40 characters to choose from, each with their own unique fighting style, meaning every player is sure to find a character which suits their style of gameplay. Levels in Tekken 6 are also, for the first time, interactive. This means that it is possible to throw opponents through walls or even through floors; taking the fight into dark and dingy cellars. Another exciting Tekken 6 feature is the revamped campaign mode in which it is possible to run around big environments and take on multiple enemies.

This deal is certainly good for hardcore fans who are desperate to know that their copy of Tekken 6 will be with them on the 30th October. However, it is true that the price of beat-em-ups goes down quite quickly, so if you’re prepared to wait , it might pay off in the long run.
