Sony and Tekken fans rejoice, as Namco Bandai have just announced that Tekken Hybrid, the all-new film and game collection, will be launching this Autumn exclusively on the Playstation 3. Bundling a copy of the feature-length Tekken Blood Vengeance 3D with Tekken Tag Tournament HD and Tekken Tag Tournament 2 Prologue, it looks set to be a must-have for all Tekken aficionados.
Tekken Tag Tournament HD is the high-definition remake of the PS2's classic fighter, with all your favorite fighters from Jin to Kazuya re-modeled to match up to today's high standards. Tag Tournament 2 Prologue, however, is an all new game, a crossover of sorts between the game and the bundled film, Blood Vengeance 3D. It features four playable characters - Alisa, Xiaoyu, Devil Kazuya and a mystery fighter - with costumes ripped directly from the film.
And on the subject of the film, Blood Vengeance 3D is the latest computer-generated spectacle from Digital Frontier - who've worked on videogame tie-ins before with Resident Evil: Degeneration - and a script penned by Dai Sato of Ghost in the Shell and Cowboy Bebop fame, and directed by Youichi Mouri, who shepherded the CG cinematics that opened both Tekken 5 and 6.
All in all, a quite splendid box-set of epic proportions for Tekken fans. It's exclusive to Playstation 3 owners, so Xbox 360 fans will simply have to sit and wait, hoping Namco announce a port some time in the future. Which is very unlikely, I should add.
