The Testament Of Sherlock Holmes Screenshots Are Elementary, My Dear Watson

Focus Home Interactive have released some new sleuthy screenshots for The Testament Of Sherlock Holmes: their Victorian-era adventure game slated for a 2012 release on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360. With Sherlock enjoying a renaissance thanks to Robert Downey Jr. and Benedict Cumberbatch, there's definitely a market for more deerstalker-toting, pipe-smoking detective work.

Graphics quality is looking reasonable, but here's hoping that Frogwares can deliver on their promise of a "captivating mature storyline" that sees Sherlock becoming a mistrusted fugitive on the run from Scotland Yard.

Exciting!

Wish they would make a game of "Sherlock" though it would probably be expensive to get BC and MF to do the voices and it would suck without them. BBC should get in to computer games... it's the future.

I remember hearing about a Sherlock Holmes game that was set in a steampunk world (Victorian-era obviously), which sounded perfect.

This Testament game does not look at all steampunk :(

However I can forgive that if it is a proper and good Sherlock Holmes game.

By the way, I think the new films with Robert Downey Jr. are a travesty (haven't watched them). And I don't really like the new BBC Sherlock set in the modern day. One of the best things about Sherlock Holmes is the Victorian setting - why take that away?! The modern setting doesn't work and ruins the character of Sherlock.

The only Sherlock Holmes I like is the BBC series with Jeremy Brett:

Jeremy Brett is the king. We can all agree on that.

Yeah, I caught one eppisode with Brett in and it seemed awesome so I am gonna buy the complete works on DVD, was looking at it just this weekend actually.

Loving the new BBC "Sherlock" though, which I wouldn't have thought I would. Such a downer that it is only 3 eppisodes per series.

I've been kind of waiting for a blu-ray but I seriously doubt it will happen.

The complete collection is available on DVD for less than £20 - bargain! http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sherlock-Holmes-Complete-Collection-DVD/dp/B002EAKWEI/

I'd say that was one of the main reasons it was set in present day, hard to compete with the Adventures of Sherlock Holmes. Thought the first Sherlock movie was ok, not seen second yet.

Yeah thanks hurrakan, I had seen that at the weekend and figured I must be able to find it cheaper as it was the 1st place i looked... but alas, no.

So ordered from Amazon now :)

Collected Sherlock Holmes The Awakened and Vs. Jack the Ripper games from my Mum last night so will play though those while waiting for this one.

Watched the first couple of episodes now. Really good, but there is some dodgy voice acting and some really fake mustaches which really put me off. Clearly if you see a chap with a fake tash he is a bad guy and up to no good... except not in this series. That's just how it rolls.

Still, it is a great watch.

Started playing Sherlock Holmes Vs. Jack the Ripper... OH MY GOD. That has THE WORST voice acting I have EVER heard. Some of the characters are fine, but for random drunks and some smaller characters there is clearly one unskilled guy doing all the voices, so many that he has to put on really stupid voices and it sounds god awful. That aside, it's good fun.

Yeah I think it gets better as it goes on! Oh and the actor for Dr Watson changes near the end - but he looks similar and is almost as good (he was recommended by the original Watson, who wanted to spend more time with his family). I didn't realise that they were two different people until I learnt this fact!

I used to play an old-skool Sherlock Holmes detective game on CD-ROM but I can't remember the name and I couldn't find any info about it. It was very awesome though. I think there were two cases - one related to a Egyptian muummy or something, and I don't recall the other. I never solved either of them! Obviously I was too young... ;)

EDIT:
It might have been some version of this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sherlock_Holmes:_Consulting_Detective

Watching this series more and more and am finding it hard not to laugh at Watson's constant grin.
