THQ’s lead games designer Bryan Williams has suggested that the entertainment behemoth that is WWE is finally on the way back to the top following sliding ratings over the last few years.
'WWE is on the way back up. In the summer CM Punk shook the wrestling world up with his incendiary speech. He got ESPN talking, and GQ Magazine interviewed him. With The Rock coming back, he is going to help kick-start an upward tick in WWE ratings. '
Williams is hoping that the more family-friendly nature of wrestling these days and the fresh direction will spell good things for the game series.
'It was perfect timing to give the brand a facelift. It was getting a little stale. We want to put the focus back on gameplay.'
Hmmm...we're not so sure if that's the case with WWE '12, which dropped the 'Smackdown vs RAW' suffix this year. Brendan has the big, fat review this evening, but I can tell you now...all is not peachy. [MCV]
