Considering how much fun the final day of this year's Masters tournament was to watch, from Rory McIlroy spectacularly falling apart on the back nine, to a pretty close call on who exactly was going to win, before Charl Schwartzel eventually grabbed the green jacket, I'm not surprised that sales of the latest instalment of the Tiger Woods PGA Tour series are flying off the shelves fast enough to break the series launch records, as people attempt to simulate the Augusta National experience.
During it's first week following release, merchants managed to shift 225, 000 copies of the game, which is a 17% increase on the previous record holder of the series, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 08, and includes figures for the iPhone and iPad versions as well with digital revenue being twice as profitable as last year.
So far, 7 million games have been played consisting of 185 million shots, which is a lot of balls to fish out of lakes, rescue from the rough, or sail straight onto the green for a cheeky hole in one!
Another surprising statistic for you is the age of the series; 14 years old! Well, that certainly shocked me and made me feel my age, considering I didn't really think it was that long ago I was picking up the first game! [vg247]
