TimeGate Studios File For Bankruptcy

Aliens: Colonial Marines Devevloper Goes Under

TimeGate, the studio behind Section 8: Prejudice and the lion's share of Aliens: Colonial Marines, have filed for bankruptcy and currently owe between $10-50 million to numerous creditors.

Polygon reports that TimeGate's creditors include Epic Games, Agora Games and DJ2 Entertainment, alongside a local pizza joint that's currently out for $34. TimeGate also recently lost a long-running legal battle with Southpeak Studios over the Section 8 license and $7.35 million in damages, which was probably the nail in the coffin.

TimeGate made headlines back in February for their role in Aliens: Colonial Marines. It's believed that Gearbox delegated them with developing the entire game on a tight budget and almost no oversight, neglected the project, before assembling the finished product themselves. The net result was significant layoffs.
