Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2 £9.99 @ Play [PS3 Games]It’s been a little under two months since Ubisoft unveiled Ghost Recon: Future Soldier (due for release sometime during the 2010-11 fiscal year) but for anyone who’s eager to get stuck into some modern infantry combat in the meantime, copies of GRAW2 are currently going for £9.99 at Play. This is a good deal - same as the one posted on Amazon a week or so ago but they are now OOS – and a price which beats the next best offer by £2.

If you’re someone who’s actually interested in the background story behind Ghost Recon, and sees it as more than just a convenient excuse for the US to flex its military muscle, you might be slightly disappoint with GRAW 2 on the PS3. Ubisoft decided to just skip straight to the sequel when they brought the franchise onto the Playstation, so unfortunately, unless you happen to own a 360, you’ll find yourself thrown in mid-way through the story. However it’s pretty much the same old tale of unstable South America, rebels with nukes, and threats to American security.

But regardless of its storyline, GRAW 2 provides some really intense modern infantry combat as you lead your squad through some visually superb urban environments. Tooled up with all the latest hi-tech gear, there's plenty of useful gadgetry to get your hands on such as the mule drone, which doesn’t just spot enemies but drops supplies and can even provide mobile cover.

Team AI is also surprisingly sharp, although there is a need to step in and take charge during the game’s various set piece battles. These make a nice change from the sniper rooftop hunts which could be really tedious in the original. Although it was released in 2007 and is slightly dated now, GRAW2 is still definitely worth a look at £9.99 for anyone who has yet to  add it to their collection.
