Tom Clancy's Joint Strike Announced [April Fools]

Ubisoft have finally announced the next title in their lucrative (if ailing) Tom Clancy franchise- and frankly, we couldn't be more excited. Whilst we've been expecting a new Rainbox Six title for some time, Joint Strike features protagonists from Third Echelon, Team Rainbow and Ghost 'future soldiers'... along with what appears to be a reference to the Assassin's Creed franchise? Crazier things have happened.

Tom Clancy's Joint Strike will reportedly feature a 12-mission storyline; consisting of extremely expansive vertical levels with procedurally-generated enemy locations. This will allow players to choose which team of operatives to use for each stage and provide for multiple styles of play. The Ghosts, for example, will go in all-guns blazing, whilst the stealthy Splinter Cells can infiltrate buildings through ducts and high windows. Team Rainbow (our personal favourites) will be a cross between the two and can rappel down the side of structures.

However, it's the story itself that seems more intriguing than most. Apparently the campaign involves a coordinated terrorist attack on American soil that's targeting Abstergo Industries... which, as you might remember, is the Templar front from the Assassin's Creed series. Could the terrorists themselves be the Assassins? Either way, details are still thin on the ground - and we'll keep you updated by the wire.

Joint Strike is slated for a April 2012 release on Atari Jaguar.

Oh man I totally fell for this one! How very silly I feel. There was an abstract Assassin's Creed reference and all.

I'm going to cower in a corner for an indeterminate length of time...
