A couple of weeks back, Johnathon posted an awesome deal whereby FHM are offering a free copy of Splinter Cell: Conviction for anyone who subscribes to their classy rag. But if, like me, you don't fancy taking the risk of being saddled with a year's supply of bad jokes, big cars and bouncy boobs, while your free gift turns out to be a substitute of allegedly equal value, then Amazon's deal represents the best preorder offer out there right now, offering a great saving of more than £5 when compared to the next best price of £34.95 from Zavvi (and it's only that cheap if you use their April voucher code).
Happily, Ubisoft seem to have learnt from Mr. Fishers poor showing in the last Splinter Cell title, and Conviction has been lauded with excellent or at least very good reviews all round. The new title has switched up the gameplay a fair bit, with a new approach that is all carrot and not a lot of stick. Fisher is now all speed and strength rather than skulking wallflower tactician, bound to get his ass kicked straight into a restart if he so much as leant out of the protective shadows at the wrong time. This, of course, is bound to be a deal breaker for plenty but is sure to win over just as many and most of the critics assure us that , just like their hero, Ubisoft have made all the right moves this time around.
